Chapter 23; Follow Up: Uriel

Uriel sat down on the rocking chair ignoring the fact that I was acting strange, chalking it up to me being me. I looked at him, placing my head on the palm of my hand and eyed him.

"Ya know, you still haven't answered my question yet." I say.

"What question?" He asks tilting his head to the side.

" The one about why your able to kill?" I ask.

"Oh, right." He says sitting up. He scratched the back of his head and sighed.

" Well you see, one of my parents weren't an angel and the other was. My grandfather is the real Uriel and archangel, so once I was born my mother who wasn't an angel was.... executed because she had married and given birth to an angel. Though I'm not a full angel so I was kicked out of heaven so here we are." He says. Arching an eyebrow I eyed him in worry.

" You left out a lot of details, Mister." I pointed out.

" Ugh, fine. But then we're going for another round of flying if I elaborate." Says Uriel grinning. Luckily I'm a bit over my dear of heights.

"Deal, now speak." I say sitting up and crossing my legs. He blinked.

" Oh, come on! The one time I want you to back down and you won't! Ugh, whatever. Any how, my mother was a half human half demon girl, and her name was Rany, she was born and raised on Earth, but on one of the expeditions the angels held in ancient times, dad and mom met. *sigh* No one saw it coming, that they would fall in love or that mom was a half breed. Dad took her to heaven showing her around and eventually.... they married but mom was pregnant by then. And then.... dad's brother who had met her first and whom had fallen for her from the start got a bit..... frustrated. In anger he tried to kill my father but my mother got in his way, she transformed into her demon self and killed my uncle. My dad was frightened at first but gradually he understood and accepted her for who she was. I was born after that.... but then word got out that my mother was an demon and that she had killed an angel, they barged into our house, ripped my mother from my father's arms and took her to the capital *pauses.* There was of course a trail, but my mother lost and was executed the very next day without warning. Dad was told to raise me until I was seven years of age, and that's what he did. He tried to escape with me the final year but he failed an was imprisoned, that day I was kicked out of heaven and on to the pavement of New York. Did you know time works differently in heaven? One year is a hundred down here." Uriel sighs. I stood up and hugged him.

" We all have our pasts. But... that does not mean we should wallow in them, instead we should try to move forward to make those before us happy. What do you say?" I ask pulling away and rubbing the tears away from his eyes.

" What should I say? If it's I agree then I do. But if it is something like I should have a retort or something than I don't have any." He says shaking his head.

" Good. I don't want you to retort. Good night, Uriel we'll take our flight lesson tomorrow, I'm way to sleepy to do that right now." I say and walked off waving my hand.
