"Hey, girl, Miss, wake up," someone patted the cheeks again.
Inaya knew what has happened. She fell into the river, hoping to die, but sorcery has taken her to another dimension, another place, pushing her into a new way of life. 'Should I open my eyes?' She wondered inside her head. 'Should I accept my fate?' She had no answer for this.
The pale skin and protruding cheekbone made the girl look weird. It looked like she was under terrible hunger and poverty. People misunderstood her.
The man who performed CPR called for an ambulance, and it reached on time to the scene.
The girl was rushed to ER for attempting to take her own life. The girl opened her eyes when the doctors looked into her us8ng torch. It tickled her eyes. She shut them tight immediately. The blood reports came out soon indicating deficiency of vitamins in the body, being extremely anaemic.
"What's your name?" The lady doctor asked her, taking the masks and gloves off.
"Inaya," the girl whispered.
"Where are you from?" She was asked again. The doctor was analysing her closely. There were wounds and brusies that were yet to fade.
"I.. I.." Inaya did not know what to say. "I don't remember," she said.
"Nurse," the doctor called for a nurse. "Take her for an MRI and an ultra sound. "Relax and do what the nurse instructs you to, don't worry, you will be fine. She will take you to meet me again with all your reports. In the meanwhile, get the dinner coupons from the reception and go to the cafeteria to get your meal," the doctor said and walked away.
Inaya looked around her. "So this is what a multi-speciality hospital looks like," she spoke to herself. She held on to her stomach, feeling hungry, and looked for the reception. Everyone who passed her looked at her, surprised to see such a lean girl resembling a pale ghost. Inaya did not notice the attention she was getting.
"Doctor asked me to collect meal coupons from here," she told the receptionist.
"Sure, may I know your name?" Asked the receptionist.
"Inaya,"
"What's your age?" Receptionist asked further details.
"18 years old," the receptionist was shocked. She noted down the information and handed multiple coupons enough for a week feeling terrible for Inaya.
"Thank you," Inaya said and waited for her nurse.
"Miss," the nurse came running, holding a slipper. "Please do not walk around without slippers. This may infect the wounds under your feet," Inaya was told. "Sit on this wheelchair, do not walk, you are unwell and need to undergo several tests," Inaya nodded her head and listened to everything the nurse told her, taking it seriously.
"I am hungry," Inaya confessed.
"Take care of your coupons well, they are not easy to get," the nurse pushed her wheelchair around and took her to the cafeteria. A meal set was placed of Inaya's lap.
Inaya had no idea what the food items are. "This is chicken soup, toasted bread with butter and jam, a glass of milk and slices of apple. The coupon you gave was for this meal set. The other ones are for other meals. Hospital will serve you only healthy food," nurse assured Inaya and took her to the scanning block. There were people lined up with tokens but since Inaya was admitted in the emergency ward, she had high priority.
"Don't get scared," Inaya was warned when taken for MRI. Next for some ultrasound.
"Drink a lot of water. Complete four glasses," she was told.
"I wish to pee," half an hour later Inaya said.
"Then let's taken your scan, you can use the washroom right after it," nurse suggested and took her in for the ultrasound.
The doctor and the nurse looked at each other, feeling heavily concerned. There were several other tests dome including pap smear and bloodtests.
Nurse rushed her to the doctor. "Dr Maya, Dr Maya," the nurse was worried.
"What is it Lily?" Doctor asked her.
"You must see the reports of our new patient," nurse was panting hard. "It's not normal," she handed them all. Inaya was made to wait outside.
"The MRI looks fine, but the blood reports and scan shows.." doctor looked at the nurse.
"The early stages of pregnancy and.. " doctor took her glasses off.
"She doesn't know, she doesn't remember, the trauma has completely erased her memories," nurse said.
"The girl must be sent for counselling and rehabilitation immediately, we also will need her consent whether to.." the door bursted open shocking the doctor the nurse. It was Inaya.
"I don't want any therapy, but I do not wish to keep the child," it appeared that Inaya had also gone through the reports.
"You have to, you are just 18, who need guidance and help. We have to call your parents for further discussion.
"Would I be suffering this way if they were around?" Inaya smirked. "Help me, do as I request," Inaya sort of commanded.
