EDWINA
Our eyes met, and something snapped between us. The air immediately became filled with tension, and his gaze didn't waver from mine as he stared at me.
He must have gone out probably to use the restroom, and I turned angry eyes back to Harriet.
"Why didn't you tell me he was around?" I asked. She shrugged.
"You said you didn't want to talk about him. Besides, we've been alternating between watching you both. His shift with you ended yesterday and I only came here because he needed to go out for a short minute," Harriet explained.
I turned back to him. He was staring at me with an unreadable expression, and I hated how his gaze made my heart flutter despite my disposition towards him.
But I stilled my traitorous heart. He broke up with me, and I wanted nothing more to do with him.
"Well, thanks for watching over us but I'm okay now. You don't need to stick around. Please take your leave," I said curtly.
