[PROLOGUE: VOLUME 2]

"Will you miss the Tower?"

Dustan asked as he sat from across me. I peered from the small window, gently parting the curtain of lush lavender-scent.

"Yes." I answered. "I shall indeed."

A look of regret passed over Dustan's features—his eyebrows scrunched up like ugly worms, lips quivering as he said, "Oh."

"But this is where my path leads, I suppose." I whispered to myself, gazing at the tall infrastructure of stone, concrete, and wood.

I felt the anger stir at the pit of my stomach. The rage I've been constantly keeping in check felt like bile rising up to my throat, ready to blow up at any second. But for the sake of appearances, I held back.

The prince signaled the start of our journey with a yell. Our lavish carriage started to move, pulled by majestic horses. Soldiers dressed in uniform gold and red marched ahead of us. At the tail of our carriage, more soldiers atop horses carried swords and tents.
