Chapter 15

“Could you move that for me?” he asked, indicating the tray of appetisers.

After putting down the tray, Tas made two more trips to the kitchen. Once to get the buttered naan bread and more wine. The second time he returned with a small box.

“Before we eat, I’d like to give you your present. With it comes a small speech.”

Dane turned his chair so he was facing Tas. There were no comments. No jokes. Dane could sense this was a serious moment.

“When I moved in here,” began Tas, taking a seat. “I had no idea how dramatically my life was going to change.” He inhaled deeply and released, the air coming out in shaky bursts. “Dane, you’ve transformed my life in ways you can’t possibly know. It’s only been four months, one week and five days, but in that time, I’ve come to the realisation I have indeed met my soulmate. You make me happy just by being in my life. You don’t even have to be here with me physically. You’re in my heart and in my soul.
