Chapter 14

Maybe he was barking up the wrong tree. Maybe Tas was planning a picnic on the beach to watch the sun setting over the waves. That would be nice, especially since warm days were now becoming few and far between. The cold winter would soon be upon them.

When Wednesday arrived, Erica didn’t seem to be her usual self. She seemed distracted. Perhaps slightly agitated.

Dane’s suspicious mind took note. “Is everything okay, Erica?”

She couldn’t look at him. “Yeah, yeah. I’m just looking for…”

Dane smiled wickedly at his colleague. “Are you sure?”

“Yep,” she said, shooting him a glance. “I’m sure.”

“Well, as long as you’re sure.”

Dane was smirking as he went back to work. Surprise party it is.

He wondered how Tas could have organised it. He didn’t know any of Dane’s friends. Come to think of it, how would he have been able to contact Erica? Although a quick Google search would have made short work of that little obstacle.
