There were some moments of silence. The transformation had left everyone speechless, even Akari, although she had already witnessed this phenomenon.
Once the dust had settled, Ash and Greninja stood there, in the same battle stance.
It was now time to give it all out.
Ash knew he was at huge disadvantage, only having 2 Pokémon against the whole opposite team. And so, he decided that he needed his full power to top Kamado.
"Now Greninja, get close with double team!"
Greninja leapt forward and multiple copies appeared.
Kamado watched the scene not knowing what to do.
"Arial ace!" commanded Ash, his and Greninja's leg raising in the same moment. Snorlax was hit very hard and yet, another cloud of dust was released by the impact and Snorlax's body falling in the ground.
Snorlax stood there, swirly eyes, laying on the ground, not able to stand up again.
"Your Pokémon is unable to battle. Better recall him!" proclaimed Ash.
Kamado, still stunned, recalled the large Pokémon in his wooden ball.
Finally, he said something: "Who are you?" he muttered under his breath.
The entire population looked scared and angry. Scared at Ash's display of strength and confidence, angry because he had beaten one of Kamado's battlers.
In the village, no one was stronger than the director. The thought of a boy come from nowhere beating the best tamer in Hisui, made them angry but also worried.
Akari had different emotions, however.
She also was worried, but for Ash. Kamado was so strong. Snorlax was his most recent catch. His other Pokémon were on another level.
Anyway, she felt also pride in Ash's strength, even if she didn't know why. Her heart was in a turmoil.
"You may have been able to defeat Snorlax. But he isn't anything compared to the next one!" spoke Kamado solemnly.
From the next Poké ball, appeared a massive Luxray. He roared loudly, scaring again the population.
"Greninja, what do you say?".
"Ninjaa".
Ash smiled. It was going to be a big battle. And he loved it. His heart was beating faster, his blood pumping through his veins, clearly excited by the strength of his foes. In this week, he was so taken by all the news about this new world, by the worries for his friends, by those visions of Serena and Dawn that he had forgotten his true drive and passion. Battling till the end. He closed his eyes for a moment, feeling the connection between him and Greninja. His smile widened, surprising Kamado and Akari, the only two noticing it.
"Double team, Greninja!"
........................….
Serena loved airports. You can say that this was related to her love for travelling but it was not the case.
She remembered the day she took the first plane on her own. The day she left Kalos and put an end to her first journey.
While walking with Dawn to the gate, she spotted some escalators leading to the boarding area.
Those mechanical stairs… She thought about what she had done in a place like that. She had given her first kiss to Ash, before being separated from him.
She smiled sadly, reminiscing her old self great courage. But now, Ash was no more.
"Goh! Come here!" shouted dawn waving her arm.
A boy with a dark grey sweatshirt with red elements noticed Dawn and approached the two girls.
"Hey Dawn, it's so nice to meet you again!" said the boy happily but also a bit concerned.
Serena observed him. He surely was the boy Dawn was speaking about: Ash's latest travelling companion.
The boy had black hair and blue eyes, was holding a phone in his right hand and had a green monkey like Pokémon on his shoulder.
"And this is Serena. She travelled with Ash in Kalos"
"Ohhh, you are THE Serena! You were Ash's last companion in Kalos alongside Clemont and Bonnie!" said Goh, clearly interested in the girl.
"That's me for sure. Serena, nice to meet you. So, Ash told you about us?!"
"Well, not so much honestly. I happened to meet Clemont and Bonnie after the incident"
Serena gasped. Clemont and Bonnie knew too, and they met Goh in Kalos under these sad circumstances.
The mood was very tense and Dawn being Dawn did the magic: "How about we make our guest comfortable and then discuss everything? Let's go get something to eat. After all, there's No need to worry!" she proclaimed determined before starting to walk.
Serena and Goh looked at each other dumbfounded before following her with more relaxed expressions:
"She's really like Ash" thought both of them with a smile.
In the lead, Dawn was smiling, thinking how she was said just yesterday her own catchphrase by her best friend.
"I won't worry. I know you are good and will fight to comeback. I will do my best to make you come back to me, Ash!" she thought with a big smile. Piplup saw her trainer and relaxed. It was good to see Dawn more relieved.
.....................….
"Thunder!"
"Luuux"
"GRENINJA, GET OUT!!"
He didn't have the time and the frog Pokémon got zapped by a huge thunderbolt making him crying and falling on the ground.
Ash winced in pain, falling to his knees. The people watching the battle watched the scene with confusion, but Akari was very worried.
"What's going on with you, Ash?"
Ash, still aching, raised and so did Greninja: "We need to end it quickly!"
Kamado looked amused but Ash went on: "Greninja, Water shuriken to get close!"
The Ninja Pokémon threw a barrage of water shurikens, quickly dejected by Luxray. When the smoke faded, no Greninja was in sight, panicking Kamado and his Pokémon.
Ash only pronounced one word: "CUT!"
And from the air a striking Greninja appeared. When his opponent noticed it, it was too late. The blade had collided with him, slamming his body violently on the floor, cracking it surface.
"Luxray can't go on" proclaimed ash while panting and trying to catch his breath.
Kamado returned his partner in clear shock. Who was this boy? Why was he so strong?
Too many thoughts in too little time. He tossed another ball, this time summoning Heracross.
Ash was prepared once again. "We have too little strength to make this battle long. Greninja, arial ace!"
"Heracross, counter it with your own arial ace!"
The two Pokèmon collided, repelling each other.
"Sword dance in agile and then arial ace again! Strong style!"
Ash watched carefully but was surprised at the speed Heracross showed in his Sord dance and even more at the huge power his arial ace seemed to have.
But then, he noticed something else: "Greninja, run up to him, Arial ace from below him!"
Greninja launched himself forward, hitting Heracross' legs, making him stumble.
"NOOOW!!" Shouted the young trainer. His Pokémon kicked his upright arial ace on Heracross chin.
He was launched in the air and Kamado commanded for pin missile, but the Kanto trainer was quickly enough to react, retorting with another barrage of water Shuriken.
"Arial ace, Greninja!" Greninja jumped over the smoke created by the precedent clash of hits and struck Heracross with a final attack.
Heracross was down. It was 3-0.
"Yes Greninja, I knew you could make it through!" cheered Ash hugging his Pokémon with Pikachu joining after.
The frog Pokémon suddenly released a huge breath and reverted to his normal form, collapsing in Ash's arms. The boy also fell on the ground, but before hitting the ground, Pikachu managed somehow to take him. Ash quickly recovered and thanked his number one partner.
For Akari, it was a heartwarming moment, but the rest of the people were caught by Kamado reaction to his Pokémon lost.
"You useless bug!" he muttered under his breath.
"Ready to continue?" asked Ash, raising. The boy made Greninja lay on the ground while Pikachu was becoming excited, sparking electricity from his cheeks.
Kamado looked up and saw the determined yet caring eyes of the boy.
He nodded, releasing Braviary. A different Braviary. Ash was amazed to see a new Pokémon.
Braviary had dark red feathers on its back and dark blue feathers on its underside. His tail feathers were red, turning to yellow, and then blue at the tips. He also had a long, thick beak with a blue cere. On either side of the cere were Braviary's eyes, which are black with small white pupils. Sprouting from above the eyes there were three large, white feathers.
He was in awe but quickly recovered and called Pikachu on stage.
Pikachu fist bumped his best friend and jumped on the floor, ready to get his exercise.
"Braviary, Psychic!"
His purple feathers glowed together with his eyes and Pikachu was blocked by the power unleashed.
"Pikachu, quick attack, break free!" Ash called. Pikachu broke from the psychic power and leapt toward Braviary, hitting him hard enough to make him KO with only one, not super effective move.
Even Greninja was bewildered by the sheer force Pikachu had gained.
No one could now believe what had happened. Kamado's Braviary had lost to a single attack from a tiny Pikachu.
Their confidence was breaking, the sheer faith in their leader destroyed by a youngster.
Akari was shocked at the talent of the boy who had saved her life. Clutching her hands stronger against her chest, she whispered: "You are amazing, Ash".
Ash saw the murmurs, the disorientation in the people and knew what he had to do, even if he hated it.
He tightened his fists, clearly not wanting to ruin this village destiny. After all, he had decided to go away on his own. Pikachu sighed. Even if he wasn't watching his trainer, it was like he could sense his trainer decision and mood.
After a deep breath, Ash began to walk to Kamado. He smiled, watching the older man, extending his hand to him, Pikachu mimicking the same smile on his face:
"Let's stop this! This was a very good battle. You have to be proud of your Pokémon strength. But you should spend more time with them, getting to know them to truly understand their power. They want to be your friend. Take your time to think about it and the next time we will have another battle."
Kamado looked surprised. The entire population went silent. Akari wanted to reach for Ash but was blocked.
He raised Greninja and exited the village with a smile, talking to his Pokémon and planning the next move in order to come back to his old life.
Akari could only see him leave. She gazed intensely before grabbing her only Poké ball.
I wanted to cover some other things but I decided to stop the chapter here. Next one is going to be the start of the second arc in Ash’s journey through the Hisui region.
Let me know your thoughts, and, until next time, See ya!
