Evolution Points

Sluuurp! Sluuu-

The suckling sound suddenly stopped and the deranged woman raised her head high, her dark gaze locked on to Ryver who was a few meters away.

Ryver finally got an entire view of the lady and his frown tightened. The middle-aged woman's eyes were completely white, the pupil and iris were nowhere to be found.

"A zombie?" Although he rarely read books about them, with how popular the genre was on the Web, he was familiar with their features. The maddening craving for blood, white creamy eyes, unaffected, even to fatal injuries; the injuries on its face caused by the man's struggle.

Ryver wasn't given more time to think. The middle-aged zombie stood on its feet and began running towards Ryver with intense vigour. Although its speed wasn't too fast, it wasn't slow either but Ryver made no signs to move away. In a few seconds, it had arrived before Ryver, leaping at him and just when they were a few inches away from each other, he finally made his move, sidestepping in the nick of time.

The zombie flailed aimlessly as it passed by, landing on the ground. But before he could move, Ryver withdrew a sharp combat knife from his boots and stabbed right at the back of the zombie's head. An unintelligible sound came out of its mouth, its body twitching slightly before motion seized.

Ryver withdrew his combat knife from the back of its neck and cleaned up his knife using the suit from the corpse. Ryver tilted his head sideways as though he heard something. The corner of his eyes squinted and the two dead corpses the middle-aged zombie had bitten to death clumsily stood up on their feet.

The man had a portion of his innards dangling before him, half bitten kidney hung below his belt, blood dripping all over the ground as they began walking towards him. Ryver's expression darkened seeing this "Who do you think will clean that up for you?"

This floor was his responsibility and seeing it getting stained with blood, he couldn't contain his emotions.

Flipping the Combat knife so he was holding the sharp steel blade, his fingers trembled and his hand muscles strained to release a faint sound of strings being plucked as he let go.

Whoosh!

The combat blade travelled at a speed which the naked eye could track and with a puchi sound, the blade pierced through the eyes of the female zombie, stabbing into the brain, effectively killing the female zombie.

Grabbing his second combat blade from his waist, Ryver bent down as he sidestepped, evading the grab from the zombie, stabbing his combat knife at the armpit of the zombie.

Kicking the back of her knees, Ryver grabbed its hair preventing it from falling over. The zombie struggled but Ryver held tightly, its scalp started to peel during the struggle but it was as though it couldn't feel the pain of its flesh being ripped from its skull.

He was right, they couldn't feel pain. Withdrawing his blade from its underarm, Ryver pierced the back of its neck with his blade and when a quarter of the blade had entered, he forcefully bent the blade vertically and push the remaining length of the blade deeply into its skull. Its struggle stopped as it died.

Ryver let go of the bloody scalp that had peeled halfway, letting the dead zombie drop to the ground. He cleaned the blade with the female zombie's shirt and went ahead to pick up the other blade from the male zombie's skull.

Ryver tapped and held a spot below his ear, on his neck. "Call Yvonne."

[ERROR! Unable To Connect, please try again later.]

Ryver wasn't shocked by this. The nuclear explosion should have wiped out the Cell Towers within range.

Waves of hot air blew from the city to his face as he gazed down at the city. Bands of thick smoke rose from numerous collapsed buildings and cars, moving up to the skies like pillars. The air was filled with yellowish-like particles filling up his lungs as he inhaled.

Slightly shocked by this, Ryver stood still for a while, deep in thoughts as to what was happening. First the nuclear explosions, then the zombies and now, all forms of communication are down which meant the satellites are down. He was beginning to worry now.

He shouldn't be worried about his daughter; Lyssa since his ex-wife; Yvonne, her mother could take good care of her in any situation. Only an army could stop that woman. But that didn't stop him from worrying over her.

"736 routine streaks put to an end." He closed his eyes and inhaled. The particles rushed into his nose like a tornado. A thick smell of copper filled his nose making his heart pound rapidly in excitement. His body shuddered but Ryver managed to contain himself.

Achoo!

Ryver sneezed and rubbed his nose. The radiation was beginning to affect him. He could feel his body getting warmer and his cells abnormally excited.

He had no idea where he could get a gas mask within the company, so he decide to make an alternative.

Grabbing a bottle of water from the office, he tore the middle-aged female's white shirt, soaked it with water and then proceeded to tie the wet cloth around his nose. Finally, he felt as though he could breathe again.

While he could still feel little of the particles entering his lungs, this is still very effective.

In his line of sight, Ryver saw a red flash of light, flickering.

[Three new notifications.] His vision lingered on the message and the notification expanded.

[You eliminated a zombie, 0.02 Evo points have been extracted]

[You eliminated a zombie, 0.02 Evo points have been extracted ]

Ryver's brows knitted, confused he spoke out after a while. "Status"

[ Ryver Mvcyger]

[Sex: male]

[Age: 28]

[Strength: 1.43]

[Agility: 1.45]

[Vitality: 1.9]

[Evo Points: 0.06]*NEW*

Ryver focused his gaze on the new information and it

immediately expanded.

[Evolution points; Evolution points are converted by the system when a certain form of radiation is exposed to the host; this is achieved when lifeforms not registered within the Archive are eliminated by the user's hands.]

[Evolution points can be used to increase the user's stats. For example, 1 Evolution point can directly increase the user's stats by one when distributed.]

[Report; Evolution points can only be distributed when it is 0.10 or above 0.10 points]

[Injuries: Antisocial Personality disorder, Two Fractured ribs, Punctured skin cells, Strained muscles, Road rash, Minor bruises... ]

[Remark: It's advisable to see a therapist first then go to a medical centre for your injuries.]

[WARNING: Evacuate the Environment or use a Gasmask! The air is poisonous!!! ]

[Report: Due to the nuclear explosion, Radiation within the environment has risen to an extreme level (500rads).]

[Host is inhaling 0.5 units of radiation per second. If this continues, the cells within the body will slowly mutate uncontrollably and within 10 days of continuous absorption, the host's body will fail and die!]

Now, this only served to confuse Ryver even further. Lifeforms not registered within the Archive? Does that mean zombies? And what about Evolution points, they can be used to increase stats when above 0.10 points but they seem to be permanent, unlike the DarkBull energy drink that increases strength and agility for about an hour when ingested.

"Have I been hijacked into a virtual game? Or did someone hack my bio-lense?" Ryver muttered as he thought. There was no need to think too deeply into things. He had 0.06 Evolution points now and only needed to kill two more zombies to reach 0.10 Evolution points then he would distribute the points and see if it would work.

He held his two combat blades in each of his hands and started moving towards the other offices.
