Chapter 58- Shadeweaver

I stared in disbelief at not only was it exactly like a code, with different coloring in the text that had randomized words and numbers, but at the sheer quantity of code there was.

Scanning over the first couple of lines of the code, I couldn't decipher any of what the text was meant to do.

About to give up, I land on a certain text that read M=175S-1(ON).

If I were to guess what that sentence meant, it would be that it costs 25 mana and one soul power for the effect to be on.

A notification appears before me, obscuring my vision of the code.

{You have glimpsed into the language that mana speaks and have understood a little of its speech. You have gained the skill, Spellcoder- Improve existing spells or skills and at higher tiers, create your own.]

With the new skill I just got, more pieces of the code start to make sense to me.

After studying it for an hour, based on the little bits from the massive wall of text, I could get a basic understanding of how each spell is meant to be.

Each spell had to have a mana cost which would count as input, that was required in order for the spell to activate.

Each spell must have some effect that corresponds with the amount of mana inputted

This being a shadow spell, I noticed a sentence that read that soul power was a requirement for the spell to activate.

The skill, Spellcoder, allows me to improve existing spells and skills, so what if I can remove this requirement and use shadow spells soul power free.

At least I would attempt it, but I would be an idiot to not learn from my past mistakes.

Any time you mess with something that belongs to a god, spirit, or a being of their level, there is an equal level of reaction back from them.

'Chathis, how do you contact Skiaxodius? I want to try to see if I can remove the shadow cost of his spell.'

'I'm well aware, you forget that I am a part of your mind now, but I've never come into contact with Lord Skiaxodius first. He contacts you and its never usually good when he does.'

That didn't help knowing that information at all, as I really needed to experiment to see what I do with the skill.

Touching his requirement for soul power without permission was a bad idea so the best I could do was try making the mana cost lower.

When actually spellcoding, I was given a flat black stone, that resembled a tablet and a stylus that needed mana to rework any chances to spells and skills.

Taking the back of the stylus and treating it like an eraser, I scratch out the current mana cost and try for 50 instead.

The spell activates, telling me that the spell has an appropriate mana cost for the spell.

No sooner from it activating do I hear from Skiaxodius himself.

"Well, even I didn't expect to be meeting you again so soon, but fortunately for you, its good for you.

If I had known that when I ascended to being a Concept Spirit that I would be so busy, I would have vied for another evolution, but what's done is done.

That being said, I have many other vacant positions and titles other than champion that need filling.

Since you are fooling around my ingeniously designed spells, you are qualified for my 'Shadeweaver' title.

You will make 3 different spells or skills every year until I have at least 15, in which cause you will only have to make a new one once a year.

Before you say anything, I'm not offering this one like the Champion position, you'll accept it or be turned into a shade."

Disappointed that he read me like a book, I try to get something out of this.

"I remember there was a perk for being Champion, what do I get for being your Shadeweaver?"

"Ah, you're correct. I'll allow you to have one shadow spell without the cost of soul power right now and when you do your job, for every 10 new spells, you gain another one."

Well something is better than nothing and it wasn't that hard to choose what shadow spell I wanted as well.

"Shadow Lance please."

"Very well, from hence forth, any time you cast Shadow Lance no soul power will be taken from you.

One last thing, when creating those spells and skills, the soul power is a requirement for all that you create."

With that, his presence promptly disperses, leaving just me and Chathis in the same room I never left from.

From that little side quest, I was now stuck with a job that I had to do as well as worry about my other problems.

At least I could now spam shadow lancers without worrying about being turned into a shade.

Focusing on the black tablet, I etched into it, what I roughly wanted to happen with the mana echolocation type skill.

Using what I've seen from the other spells, I attempted to write whatever I thought for the inputs.

Of course, when I tried to activate the spell, nothing happened.

Which was fine because I knew that nothing would.

Opening up a new shadow spell, I settle in to study the mana language.

I just back from vacation so I will focus on my story again. Thanks to those who still are loyal during this dry spell.
