Chapter 59- Beginner Spellcoder

As I studied the coding that was on the spell before the darkness in my eyes for a couple of hours, I tried to copy what I was seeing on the tablet.

There was so much that I didn't understand yet, but I needed to keep trying because failure was not an option.

I basically had my depressing attempt at making a spell for the first time memorized, as I tried to compare it to the shadow lance.

Noticing that both were entirely structured differently, I made the understanding, that maybe it wasn't working because I was trying to make it into a spell, when this was a skill that I was supposed to make.

From what I've seen with skills as compared to spells, skills were a constant flow of mama rather than a seemingly one-time activation.

For example, the cost would be written as, M= 25(C) then the next input would what the mana was for.

Then the action was needed that basically described what the skill did.

Last thing was the line that ended the constant mana flow, which subsequently ends the skill.

This was the frame of how a skill was set up, but when I looked at another codes from skills, there was more lines that formed complex paragraphs.

These were basically unreadable, and I had no way of understanding what I was reading, so I choose to ignore it.

My best bet was to use what I had, then improve or refine based on the results of any attempts.

Using the stylus as best I can because I'm still not used to being blind, I copy whatever I'm seeing before me messily down on the tablet.

I start with using what I assumed to be the minimum requirement for mana cost even as a constant, which I put as 75.

For the next input, for the mana to flow out in a radius around me, I put the line, M-360(x1)

Next, for when the mana comes into contact with anything to return with information is the tricky part.

I write, M.flow.obstruct. identify obstruction as y.

M. return(x1).

Constant. {M.flow.obstruct. identify obstruction(y1). M. return(x1)}

My brain starts to ache from how much thought I put into just those lines to form the structure of that skill.

The tablet fades from my hand, as I'm done with the skill and ready to test as I stand to my feet.

I activate my mana flow, and the skill I've coded begins to take effect.

I can feel my mana spread out as wanted in a radius that spreads across the room against the walls.

As they strike each wall, more Y variables are created which then return to x1 or me with information on what is identified.

As the skill completes a full rotation and begins the next loop, a notification goes off.

[Spellcoding has recognized this skill as an already existing skill, Pith Orientation. You have created the basic structure of the skill; therefore, you will receive the skill at Tier 1.]

I can't avoid the feeling of satisfaction as I've completed my goal and gotten over a big obstacle.

As I constantly maintain the skill, a map of the room pulses through the dark before my eyes.

Being able to see again, I confidently reach for the handle of the door.

I can feel the warmth of the sunlight on my skin and the soft blades of grass between my toes.

Without the mana telling me, I can understand that I'm outside, but I have no idea where I am.

Another problem I'm facing, is that it just so happens that walls are outside the radius of skill, therefore, I can only sense the grass around me.

As I'm thinking about a way to address this issue, the outline of a person enters my skill radius, and they get identified.

Race: Human

Class: Knight LVL 35

Health: 2000

Mana: 1200

As the guy approaches, he calls out,

"The headmaster sent me to make sure that you're not wondering his school as soon as you exit the door in your current state.

I have some clothes for you and can lead you to your dorm whenever you're ready."

With the use of the skill, the mana shows him holding out some clothes towards me, which I grab without issue.

With minimum problems, I put on the clothes given to me, and the guy steps towards me to which I hold my hand out to stop him.

"Show to me to any training rooms where I won't be bothered."

He pauses and I can see him turn towards me confused.

"In your state, I would suggest rest."

"I'll get rest when I'm the top ranked, until then, I train."

"Well ok, right this way."

He makes no further attempts to guide me by hand and instead takes the lead while I follow him.

He leads me to a room with various training dummies against a wall and a bucket with wooden weapons.

"Alright, here we are, if you need anything just let me know."

"Do me a favor and make sure I'm not bothered for the next five days."

"That's not what my job is for but ok."

As he walks out the room, I pick up some wooden daggers and drag out a training dummy.

Since I'm blind, I need a new fighting style to adapt, as close combat will most likely not be my most efficient way of fighting anymore.

Poising to strike, I begin my training to prepare for the upcoming conflict.

I struggled with this chapter, not because of the no laptop situation, but trying to accurately try to code. For those who can do programming, ignore my sad attempts.
