Chapter 47: The Monster

Lucy had resigned herself to death when the guards had come back to bring her before the council again. Lucy didn’t resist or put up any fight at all. She had no reason to think that Aleksandr would spare her life now. She kept her head low as the guards guided her back into the theater room. 

She looked up at Celeste and saw the panic in her eyes. Lucy stared at her confused. Had something else happened? Had Aleksandr already given their sentencing? But then she noticed Celeste was trying desperately to point something out next to her. Lucy turned slowly and saw a man. He looked like he was passed out. He was strapped to a wooden pole with a tight leather strap around his neck. His hands were locked with barewire and he looked like he was barely able to keep himself up. When he finally looked up, his eyes sent a chill throw Lucy so intense she thought she’d never recover.
