Chapter 8 : Ivy and her friends

Students talking and eating by groups, some entered and their chatter filled the cafeteria as they sat at their tables. The bench cafeteria tables were filled.

"you okay?' Louie asked as he placed his food on the table and sit next to me. My mind is preoccupied with the things that happened recently. First, a nightmare. Second, Suicide. Now what? I sighed and nodded,

"yeah, I'm okay" and shot him a subtle smile.

I looked at my lunch, untouched. Things went south when I came here, something isn't just right or maybe because I'm still adjusting to my environment or maybe I'm just stressed? A light brown haired girl with minimal makeup walked across my table, food tray in her hands.

"Hi, Ivy" I said, waving. She ignored me as if she didn't hear me. I looked at where she was going, a bunch of sassy girls with heavy makeup she sits in. That's a major change, I guess.

"Louie, can you look after my lunch? I'll be back" He nods and keeps eating. I stood up and went to Ivy's table. Ivy is smiling, talking to them as if she is already one of them.

"Hey' I said as I'm getting nearer. "Enjoying your lunch, eh?"

They looked at me, eyebrows raised. "Who are you?" a blonde girl wearing a headband and a pink lipstick said, raising her eyebrows. I've greeted them with a smile. "Hi," I looked at Ivy but she immediately avoids her gaze. "I want to talk with my friend." Pointing to Ivy.

They looked at each other and let out a laugh, " Friend? Oh no, girl. This is OUR friend and not yours, right Ivy?" they asked, looking at Ivy. Ivy looked at me and then back to them.

"yes like, I don't even know this girl." Ivy, flipping her hair. "Run along now," she said as she motioned her hand to go away. Mouth-opened, I couldn't believe what Ivy just said.

"Oh, come on, Ivy! I'm your friend. Your best friend" I said, looking at her. The girls shes with looked at me disgusted. " Ewwww, a person that claims she's been friends with our friend"

"I know like how pathetic right?"

"She even talks to us. Girl, we don't talk to ugly people like you" One of Ivy's friends said as they laughed in unison, agreeing to her statement.

I clenched my fist, taking a deep breath. "You don't talk to ugly people? Well, I do" and smile a sarcastic smile.

Insulted by my reply, they stood up except Ivy and looked at me.

"If I were you, go to where you've come from...TRASH" the blonde girl said, pointing her polished acrylic nails on my chest. I unconsciously grabbed the tray with their food in it and smash it to her face. The sound of breaking plates caught all students' attention.

"Oh no, are you okay?" a friend of them, asked and went to their blonde friend's side. "I think a broke a nail." dramatically cried of the blonde. Ivy was stunned, mouth-opened, and doesn't know how to respond.

"Oh my shirt is ruined!" she said as she pats the food stain off her shirt, hoping it will come off.

"You!" a friend of them, wearing a crop top said as she choked me with her hand, making me lay flat on the floor.

"How dare you do that to her!" she said as she sits on top of me. I grabbed a plate nearby, "Because you insulted me!" I said as I smashed her with a plate.

The students circled us, the noise of the crowd is getting intense entertained by the fight.

"Go, black-haired girl," a student said, cheering me. I don't want to get into fights but when someone would stoop me low, I don't care if you are a girl or not but I'll fight. I support gender equality. I stood up and another friend of them pulled my hair, I pulled back.

"You are such trash!"

"Says to the person who is also trash, I can even smell your garbage perfume." Enraged by my reply, she pulled my hair tighter. The cheering of the students filled the cafeteria.

"Stop!" Ivy called out. "Stop!" she said as she tries to make her new friend and me apart.

"Are you okay?" she asked her friend as her friend being flicked her hands away. Catching my breath, Ivy looked at me. " lets talk outside" and grabbed my hand and went outside the cafeteria.

"You are not my friend, Lilith. And will never be my friend" she said, she took her hands away from holding me. I looked at her intently, "I'm sorry for what happened last time, Ivy. I'm really sorry.. "

"I like you as my best friend but being questioned by my best friend that why I'm her best friend?" her voice wobble as tears flowed out. "I'm sorry, Lilith."

"I can fi-"

"Fix our friendship?" She let out a disbelief laugh and wipe her tears. "Don't make me laugh, Lilith. Anyway, I'm going back. I need to help my friends, they were hurt." She said as she walked out.

Tears welled in the corners of my eyes, I couldn't hold them back. I don't want to lose my best friend. As Ivy walked out, everything went slow yet so fast. My best friend, my only best friend Ivy Inri Stewart left..
