Is he similar like you?

"How come you are here?" Isabella asked as she sat on her white bed while extending her hand to reach out for fruit from time to time.

She faced an open curtain which revealed the person lying in the other bed. The infirmary does not define status as it was ruled by the principal himself, and the people who had higher statuses could not complain.

Hence despite the background Isabella held, Isabella did not complain to her Master… or her former master. And so was the person he asked, who appeared to be indifferent and acted as though she was a thin air despite being her fellow apprentice.

"Tsk! You might be handsome but you're so cold and distant. How will you get a girlfriend with that personality?" Isabella continued tasting different fruits which caused her face to change with every bite. "Anyway, it appeared you suffered more immensely than I am. Mine almost only lost my fist, but you almost lose your arm. I wonder, who does this great person who did not hold back in the slightest?"

Aiden's exasperated expression only brightened Isabella's mood. Who would not be intensely irritated and annoyed by Isabella's continuous nagging? As though an elder sister was bullying her brother to her enjoyment.

"Don't forget Isabella that I'm your suitor. Don't treat me as your brother," said Aiden with a threatening tone.

Isabella, however, smiled mischievously in response. "Really? Do you mean it? I don't think so! Look at your face when you said it. You said it without feelings, as though you were forced to become my suitors. I know who you are really, Aiden. You should probably have a hint of who I really am."

Aiden's eyebrow arced upward when he heard Isabella. He was not an idiot to think Isabella was still playing with him. He naturally knew Isabella came from one of the ancient family bloodlines since she had revealed her breathing technique, which probably only the Four Ancient Family publicly owned.

Although there were some hidden powerhouses who owned breathing techniques, their life would still be at risk if they revealed themselves. Even Frank's breathing technique, probably only the government headquarters were aware of it.

"Are you a daughter of the patriarch?" Aiden asked nonsensically.

However, Isabella's surprised and stunned expression was shown for a moment before they were back to her usual playful expression. Aiden did not capture that moment, as he closed his eyes when he asked while resting on her soft bed.

'He is smart but at the same time an idiot.' Isabella shook her head.

"Who knows?" Isabella placed the uneaten part of the fruit aside from the basket while swaying her legs like a kid. "Anyway, you probably aren't even worried about me when you heard the rumor, didn't you?"

Aiden was lost in thought and even though he caught Isabella's question towards him, he did not hesitate to ignore it. Although it was indeed he was worried about whether the rumor was factual or not, he knew it must have not been accurate considering Isabella did not stand up to confirm it herself.

Her self-proclaimed friends only wanted to verify the rumor, not the woman herself, so Aiden was not worried that much.

"Decided to ignore me, huh?" Isabella did not mind it. She was completely awakened from her explosive temperament after Draven dealt a tremendous mental shock to her. However, as usual, she was still easily distracted, and she remembered her duel with Draven once again.

"To think he defeated me in a single clash. Who knows if his soul power was that strong? A blue little fire who devoured mine…" Isabella's pupil lost its luster as she was daydreaming again. Aiden listened to her since he was also curious as to how Isabella's fist became gruesome, which she almost lost it. "In addition, he reacted to my punches. Really? Is he similar to me?"

Aiden remembered Draven had defeated Isabella in a single clash and even injured her, which was the reason why he decided to beat Draven and plan to humiliate him to satisfy Isabella. From her tone alone, Isabella was clearly enraged and would probably take revenge and returned the humiliation Draven had given to her.

When Aiden heard Isabella's question, "Is he similar to me?" he wondered what Isabella was talking about. He was curious and decided to ask her, "Fill me the detail of your battle with Draven."

Interrupted by her lost daydreaming, Isabella was not maddened by it. Although she was irked since she did not want to be interrupted, and given the recent problem she had, she did not scold Aiden. Contrary, she smiled at him brightly, and Aiden wondered if something was wrong.

"Be more politely next time. Anyway since you probably tried to take revenge on me, I will forgive you this time." Aiden tried to explain but she interrupted him with a shushed. "Since you asked for it, I will tell you. Although, because emotions clouded my mind and judgment, which is the reason why I got defeated, I will tell you the details of my carelessness and the cause of defeat."

"However, if only I have my mind cleared and might activate my third phase…" Isabella was distracted again and the explanation was out of the topic, so Aiden hurriedly stopped him.

"You are being distracted again," said Aiden. "Stop justifying your defeat, a defeat is a defeat. If you are on the battlefield, do fair rules still applied in the life and death situation? Whether you were outsmarted by your enemy or fell into his trap. If you died, can your soul still complain about unfairness?"

Aiden's endless berating caused Isabella's face to twist in pain. She had to stop him from continuing and promised she would report the battle without getting distracted again. Aiden snorted while comforting his back at the bed once more, closing his eyes, and readying himself to listen to Isabella's story.

------

"And that's it."

Isabella licked her dried tongue from the nonstop babbled. She looked at Aiden, who tried to hide his astonishment from his story, by facing his back on her. Aiden lay on the bed sideways and he was not asleep, for he was completely enthralled by Isabella's story.

It was indeed factual his indifference, casual face gaped in astonishment. It was fortunate he did not battle Draven for he was even unsure if he could subdue him. In addition, he heard Isabella not activating her third phase, which meant they were on the same level but still got defeated.

It was impulsive for him to directly decide to humiliate Draven when it could happen otherwise. However, he did not regret going into Draven's place since he met the Goddess, who became one of her suitors despite the gap between their ages.

"Was Draven always that strong? And why did you say he is similar to you?" Aiden asked.

"It's because he could react to my punches just like what I said earlier, which means his physique must have been enhanced." Isabella narrowed her eyes at Aiden who had already faced her. "Did you forget, despite you having seen my punches, you can't react enough since your body is always slow to respond?"

Aiden's face turned abashed as his mouth turned mute. Isabella did not let this chance slip by to snicker at him before turning serious again.

She replied, "Well, for Draven, it's the opposite. His mind was always troubled, and he was clearly still inexperienced when it came to fighting a high-level fighter at his age. He could have even made a counter, but because of his overthinking, he almost lost his head."

Isabella could not help but mocked Draven's failed judgment from their first clash, but Aiden's reply broke her amusement.

"But he adopts real quick, right? After all, he became decisive to meet your attack."

"Hump! He still relied on his Soul Path. His blue flame devoured mine and it contributed to the fight the most. If it was pure combat without relying on…." Isabella was distracted again, and Aiden did not interrupt her as he lay on his comfortable bed and was about to sleep.

Happy New year~!
