Wait

"What was that?" Emmitt asked, as he and the rest of the pale faces looked over at Rosalie who held the greatest gift to the world since string cheese.

She stayed, looking at the baby for a few moments more and then focused on her family.

"I'm..not sure. When I looked at him, I had the greatest urge to just welcome him to the world, so I did." She stated simply, like it was absolutely no big deal, no matter how uncharacteristic it was for her normally surly persona.

"Yes, I got that," Emmitt said as he moved closer to her. "But after you said welcome, did you say daddy?"

"What?" She responded to his question with a question, her brows slightly furrowing, despite knowing exactly what he was talking about, she had no intention to let them know that while she did feel the urge to welcome him, she also felt the urge to add "Daddy" at the end. She reasoned it had something to do with the child, however until she figured it out, she refused to give them another reason to be weary.

"I was imagining what it would be like if the child were mine, and was talking to the daddy," she explained. Allowing a convincing lie to cover up the inconvenient truth.

"Oh," was all he replied, completely joining her from the side, as he too looked at the newborn.

"What's his name?" Alice pepped up from a few feet away from Rose, more towards the bed where a sleeping Bella lay.

"I think we will wait on that until Bella wakes, yes." Carlisle's soothing voice answered her with a small smile on his lips that went away to be replaced with a slight grimace as soon as he was done with his sentence. "For now, we have other matters to be concerned about. Namely, the wolves that will soon come huffing at our door."

Esme, who stood at his side, donned a look of worry and slight fear. She did not want to fight anyone, nor did she want to see her family in danger. Not even a few minutes went by since the birth of a new member of her family before drama presented itself once again. "What do you think we should do?" She asked.

"That's easy," Emmitt began.

"Do not say we fight," he was immediately interrupted. "How can we fight and protect him at the same time. Our numbers are too close and they can launch an all out attack, while we will need to defend him." Rosalie reasoned after she cut off his nonsense, advocating a rare show of nonviolence.

"I'm proud of you, Rosalie." Carlisle chirped up from where he was observing Bella. "Normally, you would be the first to say attack, however it appears you have found something more important. I am glad." He spoke wearing his classic peaceful expression. If our sleeping unnamed baby was awake he would definitely scoff at the ass-clown. Be at peace after no one is trying to kill you, shit-bag. Give your balls a tug! Would be his succinct reply.

However, he is asleep, and its only a matter of time until the wolves come howling.

Something must be done.

"We can run." Jasper suggested. His mind playing through the different combat scenarios and landing on the most likely to see them all emerge safely.

"He's right," Alice provided.

"As if they would let us." Edward added the obvious.

"We will need a distraction," Emmitt provided.

"None of us are getting left behind." Rosalie commanded/demanded.

"The longer we take to make a decision, the more likely it is that they will realize something is wrong. If they find out the baby is born, they will come." Esme conceded.

'We wait.' No one provided.

"Wait, wha..where?" They scanned their surroundings. Each noting that they all heard the voice, until they realized the deja vu of the situation. Then, they all looked at the baby relaxing in Rosalie's arms.

They looked at him and saw those once blood red eyes that had turned golden brown, staring at the woman holding him in her arms.

Rosalie instantly started rubbing her finger on his already chubby cheeks. "Did you say something, baby?"

They could not see it, but in that moment, the baby had a decision churning in his mind, one that could determine the course of events for himself and his family for many years to come. And it all hinged on one thing. One introduction. One chance to be a true badass, so he decided to take it.

"Anos Voldigoad. Not Baby. Anos Voldigoad." A deep voice sounding from the baby's lips as those in the room stared in abject horror. (Just fucking with you lot. Ignore this after you laugh at it.)

The baby made his decision. There would be no pretending to an idiot for the few weeks that it took him to level up to crawling baby. No, he needed to take control of the situation now. While it was still chaotic, because he knew, once they settled into a stable rhythm, getting them to move how he wanted to would be far more difficult when they operated using pure logic, rather than heighted emotional responses.

'Say, no. Think, yes. We wait'. A small voice resounded in their minds, as they both heard and felt all that the carrier of the thoughts sent their way, and in that moment each and every one of those sparkling disco balls prone to melodrama, fell in love with, baby.
