Chapter 1.34

Orion had reached his breaking point. The tension in the house had become unbearable since the ritual had occurred a couple of days ago. Bonnie had been avoiding him. She'd been giving him the cold shoulder, and he'd had enough of her sulking and silent treatment. So, he decided to dial up Grams for some backup.

Orion flopped onto the couch, phone in hand, and punched in Grams' number. After a few rings, she picked up.

"Hey, Grams," Orion said, a touch of exasperation in his voice as he greeted his grandmother over the phone.

"Hello, Orion," Grams replied, her voice warm and comforting. "What's bothering you, dear?"

Orion sighed. "It's Bonnie. Ever since that ritual thing, she's been completely ignoring me whenever I try to talk to her. It's driving me crazy, Grams."

"I'll try talking to her," Grams said

Orion's frustration grew as Grams' attempt to talk to Bonnie seemed to have only made things worse. Bonnie remained distant and unresponsive. He couldn't stand the tension in the house any longer. He needed to find a way to get through to his sister.

Tiered of the dramatics decided to spell a therapy box for Bonnie, showing her what would have happened if Orion hadn't been there to help or save her if Grams died, and how badly she would have suffered. He wanted to let her know that he was looking out for her, even if that meant it was detrimental to her.

After a few hours of crafting and putting together the therapy box, he went to find Bonnie. She was sitting in her room, lost in her thoughts when Orion gently knocked on her door.

"Bonnie, can we talk for a minute?" he asked softly.

Bonnie looked up, her eyes tired and distant, but she nodded, allowing him to enter her room. Orion placed the therapy box on her bed and said, "I made something for you. Can you Open it?"

As Bonnie carefully lifted the box's lid, a sudden rush of dizziness overwhelmed her. Before she could react, her body went completely limp, and she fell unconscious. Her mind, however, was drawn into the depths of the therapy box, leaving her in a state of unconscious awareness. Orion had cast a spell ensuring that she remained physically unconscious even when her consciousness returned.

With Bonnie lying unconscious on her bed, Orion quietly left her room. He knew that she needed some time to process the intense experience she would go through. He left a note on her bedside table explaining his actions and intentions.

The note read:

"Hey Bonnie,

I hope you're feeling okay. I know this was a lot to take in, but I did it because I care about you and want to see you heal. You've been through so much, and I believe a change of scenery might do you good. Grams and I have arranged for you to spend the summer in Greece. It's a chance to get away from Mystic Falls, clear your head, and find peace.

I've packed your belongings for the trip, and the tickets are on the table. When you're ready, we'll be here to support you. Take all the time you need, and know that we love you.

Orion"

With the note and the tickets placed prominently, Orion hoped that Bonnie would eventually wake up, read the message, and consider the opportunity for a fresh start in Greece.

Before he headed out, Orion planted a quick kiss on Bonnie's forehead. With that sweet gesture, he left her room and felt his phone buzz in his pocket. It was a text from Klaus asking if he was ready to go.

Orion typed back, "Yeah, almost done here. Be there soon."

With his phone back in his pocket, he took one last look at Bonnie and then closed the door behind him.

Orion went to his room, grabbed a duffel bag, and tossed in some clothes, his trusty grimoire, and one of the vials with Elena's blood. He figured they might come in handy.

"Finally decided to show up, huh?" Klaus quipped with a smirk.

Stefan, seemingly unfazed by the banter, wordlessly slid into the back seat. Orion casually tossed his duffel bag in the trunk and hopped into the passenger seat.

"Let's hit the road," Orion said, and with that, they were on their way, Stefan's indifference a constant presence in the background.

They traveled from state to state for months, tirelessly searching for clues or leads regarding werewolves. It's when they get a hit for a man named Ray Sutton in Tennessee.  During those months, Orion got into with Alpha Derek, the werewolf he helped earlier; he asked for a vial of blood and to get werewolf blood from other bloodlines for him but to keep it discreet.

When they found him, Klaus turned him and his pack. Only to realize that his hybrids were failing. They would bleed out their eyes, ears, and noses, going Farrel, killing anything in sight. Orion decided to put one of the transitioning hybrids into sleep to test an experiment for later.  Furious, Klaus, and Stefan killed all of the hybrids.

Klaus turned to Orion with a puzzled expression, hoping for some clarity. Orion scratched his head and said in a more straightforward manner, "Klaus, if you can get me something that once belonged to the witch who cursed you, I might be able to figure out what went wrong with your hybrids."

Klaus took a moment to consider their next move and then informed Orion, "Alright, we're heading to Chicago."

"I'll clean up this mess," Orion said as Klaus and Stefan left to return to their motel, leaving Orion behind.

Orion didn't rush; he waited for a good five minutes after their departure. Then, he strolled over to the hybrid they'd put to sleep. The young guy, probably around 18 or 19, with brown hair, lay there peacefully.

With a calculated calmness, Orion reached into his jacket and retrieved Elena's vial of blood. He carefully uncorked it, adding a few drops of his blood into the vial. This concoction was intended to shift the sire bond from Klaus to himself, and the addition of his blood acted as a catalyst.

With the vial in hand, he began chanting, "Sanguis, parens, vinculum," his voice steady and resolute. As the incantation reached its culmination, he gently poured the blood mixture into the young man's mouth. The hybrid responded immediately, his body jerking upright with a gasp, writhing in pain.

Amid the struggle, the hybrid's eyes flashed a vivid green before returning to their usual bright amber hue. Orion watched the young hybrid closely, a sly smirk playing on his lips as he sensed the shifting connection. When he felt it settle, he extended his wrist towards the boy, offering it as a source of nourishment. The bond had changed, and now it was time for the young man to solidify his new allegiance by feeding from Orion.
