Chapter Nineteen: Tingle

Valerie maintained a strong front before Aiden. She was heartbroken. She trusted him and yet, he had broken that trust she had. He broke his promise, and that hurt her. The light in her eyes flickered as she stared at him, eyeball to eyeball. Her heart threatening to burst out of her chest, her lashes fluttered but she wasn't backing down.

Aiden closed his eyes, gave a long sigh and opened them again. When he did, the strong and overbearing glint was replaced by a guilty and remorseful one

"I'm really sorry if I hurt you, or broke the promise I made. But you have to understand that I did it for you! I couldn't bear to risk your life or endanger you. I was scared! I didn't want to lose you, I don't know what I would do, if I lost you!"

Valerie became tongue-tied. She didn't expect him to bare out his emotions to her on the spot. It really was shocking and she didn't know what to say. She opened her mouth and closed it again, lost for words. She blinked severally and retreated.
