Chapter 3

The morning breeze of a growing town always seem to ease the mind and heart of a person. The birds chirping in the trees and local home folks going about their daily routine.

The neighbourhood is full of peace and serenity and nature is a dominant feature. Little children who avoid the nursery ride on their bicycles and play tag. Elderlies are seen talking to each other under the giant oak tree, laughing and reminiscing their youthful days.

And me?

I am running at almost the speed of light and my sweat overpowers my two day old cologne. My hair repeatedly covers my view and I frantically brush it away from my eyes every five seconds.

Why?

Unfortunately I am late on the first day of school after a three months vacation, just when I thought i would have a change of heart I always seem to disappoint.

I'm just a few more minutes away from school running across Streets paying no attention to the road signs. I check my watch and curse inwardly,

"Why did I ignore my alarm??" I mentally slap myself with the question, this was not how I planned my first day.

I see school just after a street and some students entering the large blue and white building. I mentally scream a yes but my enthusiasm dies as I see Andy the paperman with his bike on the street I was just about to run across.

I curse as loud as I could and Andy notices my incoming speed. Some of the students turn to see who was having such a bad day.

"Looks like someone's late again" a student says with an exasperated tone,

"Come on Eris!!! You can still make it!!!" a dear friend of mine, Debbie cheers on "you have three minutes girl!!"

My unnatural hearing abilities pick up the number and I increase speed. Andy is scared shitless that we might crash and he should be. I was not slowing down.

I am definitely making a bad impression for the new guys and girls but I wasn't born to make a good impression but rather a stunning one.

Andy prays to dear God to forgive us for the accident that is about to occur. So he thinks.

As I reach him I use all the energy I have and channel it to my legs forcing my body to do a front flip over him. I land and wave him goodbye. Poor man almost fainted on his bike.

Debbie screams excitedly as the stunt pulls, gym class really helps. Don't ever skip it. The new kids are surprised as I make it just in time before the bell rings.

So I guess I'm not late after all.

"Morning" I say almost out of breath to my bff while trying to straighten my hair and regain my composure,

"That was amazing Eris! Best impression yet for a new school session!" She hugs my sweaty body and she doesn't seem to mind,

"Better than last year's?" We laugh together as we enter the building.

Hi, my name is Eris Stone and I have to be the most unnatural person on planet earth. My black locks always seem shiny and shampooed even when I don't shower for days. My Raven eyes are a glimpse of a dark Halloween night, do not stare at them for too long. My nails grow faster than my height and I have a personal nail cutter I carry everyday to cut them. But when I'm not cutting, I'm polishing and sharpening.

I'm sixteen and though I'm not the brightest student I do like books and sports. I'm rather extra ordinary and I like it just like that. It does get scary at times but I've learned to accept myself.

I'm also single, don't come around.

"This session is going to be a blast! We have new teachers, new facilities and more importantly new boys" Debbie whispers the last part as we walk by the new hunks that caught her attention. I give a small smirk and don't say a word,

"What? Don't you like them?" Debbie tugs at my arm,

"I'm not interested really. Not my type" I flash a smug grin making her giggle,

"Don't worry, hopefully we'll find one for you but I have my eyes on a couple" she covers her cheek with her palms.

Debbie is my bff and I've known her since I was in middle school. She's basically a sister. Her brown locks always smell like fresh honey from a honeycomb and her facial features are perfectly arranged. She might as well be a model.

I am a bit taller than her but her glasses give the impression that she is the smarter one. We are alike but the difference is that I tend to be reckless and spontaneous while she is reserved and down to earth.

Opposites attract.

We stride over to our lockers to place our books while still discussing about the new term. I did promise to up my grades to apply for a scholarship to a well known college but with me almost coming late I could've blown my chances.

I pick up my writing materials and a book about to head to my first class with Debbie just when a strange aura hooks me. I try to clear my head, probably the pump of adrenaline was a bit too much. I feel a tad bit dizzy but quickly shake it off and follow Debbie to class.

We enter the classroom and we take our usual seats, mine at the back of the class and hers just in front of mine. We have about ten minutes before class begins, it's a habit of ours to come in early and talk a bit before class starts.

A couple more students enter, most of them new. I get that feeling again and shrug it quickly as Debbie turns back,

"I just can't wait for the class! Our favourite, Arts!" She squeals holding my hands in hers. Art was basically our favourite class. It had this feel about it that couldn't be compared to any other class.

"Yeah I hope Mrs brown has—" I'm cut off by perfume content being sprayed directly at my face. I use my hands to propell the concentrated scent away from me, "what the hell??!? Do I look like a mosquito to you??!!!"

I'm technically about to murder someone right now.

"Not yet, but you sure do smell like one" lilac gives a smug response.

Lilac Ash is the girl you would never want to be friends with. Talk about complete attitude adjustment, she is literally the meanest person on earth.

Her lilac hair matches her name and although she appears dumb she isn't. A characteristic beauty mark is placed on the right side of her upper lip and a sharp nose anchors her face.

As usual, she adorns herself with the most expensive jewellery, make up and clothes. Very rich and spoiled if you ask me. Most popular girl in school if I forgot to mention. Every girl knows her and wishes to be her, and every guy wishes to date her. Her figure is rather slender with little signs of development and her height the same as Debbie's.

In conclusion, she is the perfect highschool villain.
