Twenty Dollars

"So how was it?" Anne asked Lenny.

Lenny, remembering the task-complete message at that moment, just nodded his head slightly with a reserved expression. 

"Was ok."

Anne extended her palm out and said calmly, "That'll be 20 bucks."

Lenny couldn't believe his ears.

"Wasn't… Wasn't it free?" He asked, the thought of having to pay for his first-ever kiss gradually resembling a shameful nightmare. 

Anne looked him in the eyes, utterly serious as she repeated, "That'll be 20 bucks. Do you think I'm a charity that gives out free kisses?"

"…" Lenny had no response, looking at Anne with a slightly downtrodden expression. What was the point of great looks and charisma if he couldn't acquire just a free kiss from a lady?

"I wanted to do it for free, but you suck at kissing," she added.

"H-How is that my fault?!" He cried out defensively, her words stabbing directly at his insecurities.
