Chapter 469: Logic's Interstellar Journey_1

Everyone smiled helplessly at Jiang Yu's string of tasks, the Wallfacer was about to start treating everyone like workhorses again.

However, Jiang Yu's tasks filled everyone with enthusiasm, after all, having goals and direction provided motivation.

Moreover, Jiang Yu's plans were some of the previously unresolved issues, short-term prospective development directions for the Solar System State, and had been troubling those present. Today, Jiang Yu had resolved them all at once.

Jiang Yu said again, "These two small tasks, the first is to complete the final elimination of the Silicon Star People as soon as possible, to avoid future development inconveniences."

Cao Yang, who was attending in the form of a three-dimensional hologram, nodded his head, "Yes! We will complete the elimination of the enemy as quickly as possible!"

Jiang Yu elaborated, "The second is to explore the gravity source near the New Continent Star System. According to the Science Academy's explorations over the years, this gravity source is quite different from normal celestial bodies.

"We cannot rule out the possibility that it is a product of advanced civilization technology, and we must proceed with cautious exploration.

"This exploration mission will be undertaken by both the military and the Science Academy."

Cooper and Chris responded together, "Yes!"

Jiang Yu took a deep breath, "I know these tasks are quite challenging. However, everyone should be aware that there are far more important matters at hand.

"The Strategic Department's multiple calculations have yielded similar results; the next century or two will be a period of rapid lane development for humanity.

"Whether it's our comprehensive strength, or development in technology and thought, we will advance considerably.

"Everyone must be ready to provide the best opportunities for this period!"

The crowd responded with a resounding, "Yes!"

Jiang Yu nodded with a smile, "Oh, right, starting from January 1st next year, we will switch to the Galaxy Era for our calendar.

"We don't want to be like the Solar System Federation, constantly changing the calendar system, which confuses the students when studying history and adds to the thinking cost in daily life, not to mention it's easy to get dizzy and unclear about the various eras.

"As long as we have not stepped out of the Milky Way, we shall always use the Galaxy Era!"

He paused, then said, "Additionally, starting today, I won't intervene in every big or small matter. I am only responsible for controlling the general direction. For some trivial matters, don't seek my opinion; you can discuss and decide amongst yourselves."

Having said this, Jiang Yu took a deep breath. Although he realized his mission might not be over, he knew it was still time for a break.

...

In May of Galaxy Year 3, 3.8 light-years away from the original Solar System, a vague shadow suddenly appeared in the pitch-dark space.

This shadow quickly materialized into a small spaceship, inconspicuous in the pitch-black night sky, and even after starting its nuclear engine, at one astronomical unit away, it was still hard to observe.

The space here was too dark and too vast.

Logic, inside the spaceship, looked out at the world through the porthole. It was dark, with nothing but the dots of starlight to be seen.

He smiled and said, "Only by being inside the forest do you realize the extent of its darkness."

He nodded, speaking to himself, "At least it's darker than I had envisioned!"

On the spaceship's navigation map, one could see models of surrounding celestial bodies constructed using gravitational fields, with a few star systems a good distance from the spaceship.

The closest bodies to the spaceship were the Moon and Earth.

Logic sat in his chair, leaning on his cane out of habit, "Lightspeed spaceship, heh, humanity has finally learned to run."

Suddenly, a communication request came through. After Logic accepted, the holographic imager started operating.

Zhuang Yue's figure appeared inside the spaceship, smiling as she said, "Father, welcome to Earth! We will hold a grand welcome ceremony for you when you land on Earth."

Decades had gone by, and her appearance had matured. Her smile was now more composed and graceful.

Logic laughed and said, "I'm just an old man who came to spend my old age by my daughter's side, there's no need for all this."

"It's what everyone hopes for, you have many fans here."

It would be a lie to say Logic wasn't pleased by this, thinking back to his time in the Solar System Federation, where he was constantly guarded against, and ultimately used for a trip to Pluto, which essentially resulted in his exile there.

Zhuang Yue added, "According to our respective courses, you should be able to arrive on Earth in about five days.

"Rest well these few days, I will keep in regular contact with you."

After ending the communication, Logic asked the robot to pour him a drink as he continued to reflect on the changes that lightspeed spaceships would bring to humanity.

Looking out of the porthole, it was still pitch black.

As Logic stared into the darkness outside while taking a sip of his beverage, the blanket of darkness amidst the stars brought a slight tranquility to his heart.

Suddenly, a point of light appeared within the darkness. Logic was startled. Was it a supernova explosion? Or some similar celestial event?

The point of light grew brighter and eventually became clear enough to discern; it was a seductive red glow that looked a lot like the exhaust flare of a nuclear engine.

While Logic was still in a daze, the spaceship received a communication request.

After Logic accepted the call, to his surprise, it was Cheng Ping!

Cheng Ping had aged considerably, with white at his temples, looking somewhat elderly.

He asked with some astonishment, "Are you, Teacher Luo Ji?"

Clutching his beard, Logic laughed and said, "Haven't seen you in decades, do you really not recognize me anymore?"

"How come you are here?"

Only then did Logic notice that Cheng Ping's expression was a bit off. "Don't you know that I'm visiting Earth?" he asked.

Cheng Ping grew even more surprised. "You're not going to tell me you just disengaged from lightspeed, are you?"

Logic laughed and replied, "You've certainly gotten better at joking after such a long time."

Cheng Ping murmured to himself, "My guess was right!"

Then he put on a forced smile and said, "May I come on board your ship to visit you?"

Logic lifted his drink, "You're welcome anytime!"

"Good, just give me a moment to make some preparations, and then I'll be right over."

After the call ended, Logic felt Cheng Ping's response was quite abnormal. Back when he first arrived in Sydney, he often interacted with Cheng Ping.

In his memory, Cheng Ping was someone who never showed his emotions openly and had never looked so astonished in his presence.

Logic laughed to himself, "Did my aged appearance scare him?"

Then he gently shook his head, waiting for his old friend to catch up on the past.

By rights, he should have been able to see the other ship in his line of sight by now, and the two spaceships should have been able to connect quickly, but Logic waited for over two hours before Cheng Ping finally arrived aboard Logic's ship.

Only when the two spaceships were close did Logic realize that Cheng Ping's ship was quite large, looking more like an escort ship, not a curvature spaceship.

Cheng Ping opened his arms and gave Logic a brief hug, "It's truly comforting to meet an old friend here."

Logic said with a laugh, "I heard that you were once a senior administrative official on Earth, how could you not know I was coming to Earth?"

"You don't know," Cheng Ping answered with a bitter smile, dodging the question, "I've undergone a tremendous upheaval."
