I hear my papa's voice on the other end of the phone, and I know involving him in this conversation would be an advantage to getting what I want "Papa, talk to your husband,'' I screech into the phone.
My papa Jabi collects the phone and I can almost see the smile on his face "What mayhem are you brewing this time beloved daughter.''
I smiled into the phone because for the first time, this conversation doesn't feel empty. Ever since I shut off my humanity, I haven't actually smiled at a conversation with anyone and when I say smile, I don't mean on the outside. I haven't smiled on the inside.
