The Wild Wolves

An unmated yet ancient wolf, Uriel Ulrich, wanted nothing more than to leave the void that has always assaulted his heart for centuries so as to convince fate to provide him his mate, so he could finally rip himself away from the cage of boredom. But, when a strange vampire walked into his life to capture his heart, the plot that had been prepared by fate underwent a great twist. Uriel was left with two choices, an advantageous and a disadvantageous choice. It’s either he finds a way of convincing his ruthless beast to accept the vampire as their mate and thereby forsake the search for their fated mate or he rips apart the image of the vampire that was contained within his brain and continue his search for his fated mate. Each choice leads to an unwanted ending, for both his fated mate and the vampire belonged to a more powerful being.

A Broken Mirror II

(Veronica Varys)

I was assaulted by guilt when I thought about the lie I told to Uriel in order to get him to do my bidding. I had left the house to go meet the luna of the light pack. The wolves on guard casted their eyes upon me and further proceeded to ascertain if I was the only visitor, I knew they were scared of Uriel's visit. When they saw that I was but the only one, one summoned courage to question me. `What are you here for?' He growled at me and I knew to be careful lest I incur their wrath, I wasn't Uriel. `I'm here to see your female leader. And, don't think I'm the only visitor present. Just a signal of mine would bring your heads to the ground should the other hidden visitor make a move.' I casted a false threat at them and it did well to scare them for they all tilted their heads around to search for the other visitor, Uriel, but they saw none.

My fake threat did well to convince them to let me into their pack. I caught sight of a lot of black clad wolves, I knew they were the members of the neighboring packs who had come to pay their respect to the dead. I was brought into the dead Alpha's lair to meet her and I sighted some burly men crowding around her as she spoke. `No Beta within my pack would dare to assume control while I'm alive. I would flay the skin of anyone that dares to do that, I would cut off the head of anyone that tries to revolt against me, and I will hang his filthy head on a decayed tree for other wolves to see. As long as I'm alive, I'll be the female Alpha of this pack.' I stopped my advance towards them when I noticed their heated argument. I was shocked by her words, nonetheless. It was an impossible thing for a female to lord over a pack, such had not happened within their kind for years.

Their argument drove their perception towards a lost island which made them to not discover my presence even when I had entered. After she laid her threat, she tilted her head rightwards to gaze at me and I could see fury. She wasn't the only furious wolf, others growled at me. `And, what are you here for?' I calmed my fear as I spoke. `I'm here to strike a deal with you.' She frowned at my response but her curiosity got the best of the fuming luna and she didn't hesitate to dismiss her audience so as to hear me out. `Speak, I cannot restrain myself to kill you. This is an opportunity to kill you and achieve my previous objective since that beast is not here with you.' I was curious about the objective she mentioned so I hesitated not to ask about it. `What was your previous objective?' She smiled in response before giving a reply. `When you walked into my pack, I sighted that sunlight ring on you. We both know what a rare artifact you possess. If I could sell it to a renowned vampire, I would gain a greater benefit. Let's say my greed earned my husband's death. I was curious about how you managed to obtain such a rare artifact but when I saw how that man fought, he was different from the others, I knew it was his doing. Let's forget that and let's talk about the deal.' I was shocked when she revealed why she wanted Uriel to release me to their pack. I waved the thought away and spoke about why I was there. `I need us to trick Uriel into thinking I was kidnapped. His first guess about who might have kidnapped me would be one of the red ravens and he would have no other choice but to visit Odeon's House for he already knows that their Omicron is a brother of one of the renowned vampires serving directly under Amenadiel. But, he wouldn't know where Odeon's House is so he would come to you since he knows you have knowledge about the location.'

She said nothing till half a minute had passed by. `I can't understand you. You wanna lure your friend into Odeon's House so as to kill him? What's your objective?' Her words earned her my smile. `No, I wouldn't think of harming a friend of mine. I have a bad relationship with Odeon's brother, he had served a lot of pain to me in the past. So, I intend of getting back at the red raven by killing his brother.' She was further confused by my words. `Wait, you mean to say you are enemies with a red raven and you're still alive? How did you manage to achieve that? Is it because you're under the protection of that man?' She digressed from the main subject but I didn't hesitate to satisfy her curiosity. `No, I protected myself. I've been hiding so as to not be killed by them. But, now that a chance has been birthed, I plan on making perfect use of it and get back at them.' She frowned in response before deciding to question me. `So, how could one wolf delve into the lair of Odeon's vampires. I've seen how he fights, he's faster than most vampires I've encountered before and he's also stronger but how would he fight dozens of vampires, alone? He might be strong but he isn't immortal.' I smiled in response but didn't mention Uriel's origin to her, I wasn't needed to be told to not reveal such heavy discovery to anyone. `He has his way, trust me.'

`I understand, we both earn what we ant. We both get to see our common enemy die. I'm in. Have your seat, friend.' I was finally given the chance to have a seat after saying many words to her. I accepted the offer and sat on a chair opposite hers. `You would remain here till nightfall. Before Uriel manages to kill them as you've claimed, I would find a way of making him think Odeon was the one that captured you when he comes to ask about his location. That would make his return to my pack quicker so you both could return to your home.' It was my turn to get curious about how she would make Uriel believe Odeon was the one that captured me. `I know your man, he wouldn't want to kill Odeon unless he has a solid reason, he's quite a honorable beast, I must say.' I smiled in response as she spoke.
