The Wild Wolves

An unmated yet ancient wolf, Uriel Ulrich, wanted nothing more than to leave the void that has always assaulted his heart for centuries so as to convince fate to provide him his mate, so he could finally rip himself away from the cage of boredom. But, when a strange vampire walked into his life to capture his heart, the plot that had been prepared by fate underwent a great twist. Uriel was left with two choices, an advantageous and a disadvantageous choice. It’s either he finds a way of convincing his ruthless beast to accept the vampire as their mate and thereby forsake the search for their fated mate or he rips apart the image of the vampire that was contained within his brain and continue his search for his fated mate. Each choice leads to an unwanted ending, for both his fated mate and the vampire belonged to a more powerful being.

A Broken Mirror III

(Uriel Ulrich)

Whenever Ulnar took control of my body, my consciousness found it hard to take back control due to the blockage produced by an unfathomable spiritual door. I would have to pound it with my fists till it crumbled but the hardest part of it was it's will to not crumble. When Ulnar took control over my body, I found myself in the usual dark room whose door was always locked. I enjoyed the excitement that sunk into me when Ulnar ripped apart the heads of the vampires, he dug his venomous fangs into their necks and drained them of their energy. He halved the bodies of others, he was the real definition of a beast. During the entire battle which yielded the death of Odeon, I was confused. I felt that I had lost some memory but I couldn't wrap my head around it. I knew the memory was important and it was related to the entire search of Veronica but I couldn't remember.

After the battle ended, I yelled at Ulnar to let me have control over my body and there were only two ways to achieve that. It was either he willingly agreed or I broke the spiritual door. That was one reason I hated letting him out, he would always try to exploit the opportunity. I wasted no time to raise the fingers of my right arm and folded them into a fist, I pounded the door so hard but nothing happened. `Ulnar, don't you feel like something is wrong?' I calmed my anger and questioned him but he snorted in response. `Before we arrived at the Light Pack, I already knew it wasn't Odeon that captured her and my real target was his brother but why did we lose that memory after we left their pack? Something is wrong.' I finally regained the lost memory after seconds had gone by so I explained the issue to Ulnar.

`That's right, we already knew it wasn't Odeon that captured her but her brother so why did we lose the memory and believe it was Odeon. Someone must have blasted our brain with a memory loss spell, only witches are able to do that, very powerful witches. Normally, magic shouldn't be able to affect us so much but the fact that the witch managed to do that is quite amazing. If I find who did it, I would kill him or her. Who do you think did it?' He questioned as he exited the mansion to gain entry into the car. He wasn't lying, magic had very little effect on us but for the witch to pull off such a feat made her formidable. `I have no knowledge about who the person is. It was after we left the pack that we lost that memory so whoever might have done it was present at the pack. To get a better understand of this issue, let's return to their pack.' I convinced him to let's return to the pack but he shook his head as he drove the car along a wrong path. `While I'm in charge, I'll find our mate. Trust me when I say it will take time before you would even manage to break that door.'

`Do you wish for such witch to stain our honor, how dare the witch toy with our memories. Do you not want to show him or her how formidable we are? How we are not to be treated lightly?' Even if he was a powerful beast, he was still an animalistic being. My persuasion worked out and he steered the car towards the right path, the path leading to the pack. The journey lasted few hours before we managed to arrive at the pack. It didn't take long to arrive at the Alpha's lair for the wolves on guard seemed to have been instructed to let me in if I did come. Five burly men stood before the door leading to the interior part of the house and when they sighted me, they backed away and let me in.

But, what I saw made me so furious. I sighted Veronica sitting beside the Luna of the pack. They were having fun derived from the chessboard that sat between their figures. As I barged in, I noticed shocked expressions on their faces. Perhaps, it was due to how scary I looked, my tuxedo was ruined by cuts made by the claws of those vampires, blood bathed my tuxedo and made me looked like a demon that managed to escape hell. I was out there battling those innocent vampires in order to find her and there she was, having fun with another lady. I couldn't wrap my head around why she was even present, didn't she say she was in danger? If I was in control, I might have just left the house without saying any word but I wasn't, it was Ulnar and I was aware of how Ulnar dealt with such situations. He hated being tricked a lot and would kill whoever that played with his mentality.

`Weren't you captured by a red raven? Why are you here? I already told that fool to let you be and focus on our objective. Talk fast, I still need to kill you.' Veronica was frightened by Ulnar's husky voice and I was aware she knew that I wasn't in control. `Ulnar, listen well, I can explain.' Just as she replied, the Luna was confused. `Who's Ulnar? Is his name not Uriel? Or, is this Uriel's twin brother?' She arose and stood by Veronica's side as she gazed at me, I noticed the hint of wariness within her eyes. `I want a quick explanation.' That was all Ulnar managed to say. `I needed to avenge the death of my previous lover and I lack the strength so I made use of the arising opportunity to achieve my goal, I had to trick you into believing that I was captured by a red raven to achieve that. I knew if you would want to visit Odeon so as to inquire about the location of his brother, you would have to come to this pack to ask about Odeon's location. I left the house before you woke up so as to draft out the plan with Rina. And, that's it.' I was furious by her explanation but I could do nothing since I wasn't in control and even if I was in control, I would have just walked out.

`So, you tricked Uriel into achieving your goal? Even if you hadn't tricked him, the intention of killing you so as to make him focus on our objective is still within my brain box.' Ulnar said to her before tilting his head rightwards to speak to the Luna of the pack, Rina. `Where's the witch? After I kill her, you would do well to give an answer or you die with her.' Ulnar threatened her with no hesitation. He could kill any vampire on sight but he hated killing wolves, none of us wanted the extermination of our kind. `Ulnar, she's still under my protection, don't touch a single hair of hers. I won't let you do her any harm.' I growled at him as I pounded the spiritual door with my fists. `Uriel wants me to not even touch you after what you did but I don't agree with him.' He said to Veronica and after that, he bolted towards her. Within the span of few seconds, her neck was within the grip of his claws. He raised the claws belonging to his right arm with the intention of digging her chest out. `No!!!' I screamed as I landed a strong hit on the door.
