Chapter 2 - Welcome to Olympus

Azami and Adora led me to a small room located near the library.

It was once a study room and now it is a storage closet for old objects none of the Gods wanted to use anymore.

It was a dusty room with a large red couch and two chairs opposite it.

Pieces of equipment were thrown everywhere like a bow and arrow, harp and even a couple of rusted swords that seem to be dated back thousands of years ago.

Yet they were all covered in cobwebs, and no one seemed to take an interest in this place, especially the servants and maids if this room was kept untidy for all those years.

Azami clicked the light switch, and the room was lit by only one small bulb with barely a flicker of light in it.

Adora beckoned me to sit on the couch, but I felt uncomfortable knowing there may be rats or insects crawling everywhere.

Yet I sat down on the couch with my hands on my lap.

Adora and Azami locked the door tightly as they gave each other a brief nod as they sat down on the two chairs facing me.

I didn't understand why they had to shut the door if I was only trying to talk to them especially since they looked worried for some reason.

"Why am I in this room? I have seen more comfortable rooms than this" I ran my hand through my hair as I felt a little uneasy about what they were doing.

"It's not safe to talk anywhere outside this room. About one year ago someone started snitching everyone out to someone so whenever we want to talk about something secretive, we would all have to find a secret room to communicate" Adora looked down at the ground as sweat trickled from her head.

That doesn't seem good at all but who would try to put their life on the line just to know everyone's secrets and tell whoever this person was?

"Have any of you even tried to find out who it might have been?" I asked.

"We tried but just a couple of months ago Asaal went looking for the culprit himself. Apparently, the king found out that Asaal was trying to help a mortal have a little more time left in the world before they were going to die and he was punished really badly with a whip. After that everyone stopped searching for the culprit. It was said by the God of knowledge that whoever tried to find the culprit would be badly punished" Azami was shaken with fear as her voice became a slight whisper.

Both of the girls seemed to be terrified of whoever this culprit was and yet the king himself didn't even try to find them himself.

Was the king siding with this culprit if he didn't do anything about it?

"Who is this Asaal person you were talking about?".

"Asaal is the God of Time. He is a very quiet person and barely anyone talks to him since he likes to keep himself isolated from everyone. But he is one of the highest ranked" Azami replied.

The highest ranked...

"Listen I don't understand barely anything you guys are talking about. At least give me a brief summary of everything you know" I asked trying to sound a little nicer.

The girls both glared at each other wondering if it was alright to tell me this sort of information.

Of course, I was just new here so it would be hard for them to trust a girl who was supposed to be dangerous because of the Dabria girl.

"Fine but you better not tell anyone else this information we are about to tell you. Because this isn't the Olympus we once knew. It's a corrupt society now and after what we are about to tell you, make sure you remember each detail. This will be the only way you can survive this hell hole" Adora gave me the serious look as if she was going to slaughter me if I told a single soul.

These Gods sure are interesting in many ways possible.

"The city we are now in is called Olympus" Azami spoke with a low murmur.

As she waved her hand small objects began to appear in the room.

They were seen as hallucinations and they were miniature size as if Azami was telling a story using pictures.

"Years ago Olympus was once a city of life and energy where we Gods were more powerful than life itself. But it all changed once Medea became a God. She was known as the Goddess of Chaos and Mayhem which was the first we had ever heard about. The old queen told us that Medea was not a dangerous person yet it had all been lies because Medea had started to cause trouble in Olympus and the mortal realm. It was true that at first Medea was a gentle soul who used to help others but that was until she had done the impossible. One of Medea's missions was to go to Japan and cause a riot there in a village. But once arriving Medea had fallen in love with a mortal man named Akihiko who was a nobleman. Medea lied to the king and said that she had to stay longer in the mortal realm as she had many missions to complete and the king believed what she had said. Months later Medea and Akihiko fell in love and got married. They had two children, one was a girl and the other was a boy. But Akihiko grew tired of Medea and so he had an affair with another woman called Nozomi. He didn't know that Medea was a God so once Medea found out from a friend that her husband had cheated on her, she was furious. She ended up destroying thousands of cities and villages in Japan yet the heartbreak of her husband tore her to bits. She became corrupt. In the end, she killed her two children, her husband and his lover and she fled back to Olympus where she locked her room and never left there ever again".

I sat there in utter shock as I could feel my body become still as a statue.

No words came out of my mouth because I was at loss for words of how a Goddess like herself could become dust.

So many questions came to my head as if a rush of adrenaline kicked started my thoughts.

My eyes were as wide as an owl and my skin felt like it was being pricked by thousands of little needles.

Could a story so gruesome as this be real?

"Where is Medea now?" I asked with a low voice.

"She is on a mission to collect information. She will probably come back after a year so there is no reason for you to fear. Every time Medea comes to visit no one talks to her so as long as you don't get in her way then you're safe" Adora clutched onto her hand while she was trying to cover something from me.

"Medea is second-ranked. In Olympus, we are all ranked depending on how powerful we are and the most recognized we are among mortals. If you are at the top you are safe but when at the bottom you could be treated as a slave. Me and Azami are ranked near the 20th so we are safe for now".

"Who is at the top?".

"That would be Damien God of War and conflict. My advice to you is to stay out of his way. He despises every God and the reason he is at the top is that there were rumours that before he became a God, he sold his soul for power. There were times Gods tried to take the title from him, but he slaughtered every single one of his opponents with nothing but a claymore sword" Azami's eyes lit up with astonishment and it seemed as if she was a fan of his.

Adora's seemed to hate him from after the last fibre of her body, yet Azami was completely different when it came to him.

I didn't understand whether or not I should be afraid of this so-called 'God of war' but the one thing I can remember is that he is a good fighter with a bad attitude who I should stay clear of until I have more information to rule him out.

"Me and Azami are the only Gods you can trust here. I saw what you did back there, and we are not afraid of you like the others are. They are only scared because you are something new, Adriana. Chaos, War, Sins and Nightmare have been watching you and sadly they are not done with you yet. Chaos had a bad relationship with Darkness as well as Sins so if you are in any trouble, it's better to find us immediately" Adora leaked information out as if I was nothing more than a person she would trust with her heart.

I don't know why Adora and Azami would do this but now I knew that I had some allies in this place after all.

But telling by their role it was easy to guess they weren't as terrifying as Chaos was.

"Thank you for this Adora and Azami. I am in debt to you but there is one more question I must ask of you" I stared directly into their eyes as I held my breath tightly.

"You can ask us anything. You will find out about everything soon enough" Adora gave off a sad smile.

Azami didn't seem to give any comfort to Adora, yet I could tell they were very close friends.

"Are Gods actually immortal like everyone said?" My question made both of the girls laugh.

It was a stupid question, but I had heard a rumour before that Gods had indeed died thousands of times in the past.

"Your quite right Adriana. But not exactly close to the answer. You see we Gods will never die of old age, but we can die from injuries and gruesome deaths like any other mortal. In human form, we are sixteen or older but in reality, I am actually 131 years old" Adrian's face flushed red.

She is 131!?!

She is hundreds of years older than me and yet she looked younger.

She had the complexion of a sixteen-year-old goddess yet in reality she hid like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

"Don't be too surprised Adriana. She is still young for a Goddess because unlike someone who thought I was a ten-year-old I am actually 533 years old" She scoffed at my face.

What was wrong with these Gods!?

It felt like they had immortality yet it was far from it.

There were too many questions left unsolved and these two Gods won't always be there to give them to me.

They were useful for now but how much longer until they catch up to what I'm doing?

"Thank you, Adora and Azami. I will keep in mind the information you have shared with me and if I ever get into trouble I will be sure to find you two" I stood up from the revolting couch as I made my way to the door.

When I was just a child I read a book about Olympus.

No, it wasn't about Zeus and those Gods because in our world they were merely a fantasy legend for humans to believe.

The true Olympus was a death trap for those enslaved to follow orders and keep a balance in the mortal realm for foolish humans that were already corrupt and were banished from Olympus.

When I was just seven years old grandmother told me a story about how humans once lived in Olympus until they were banished because they were ugly and sinful creatures who were greedy for power.

Maybe times have changed but who knows because Gods are more human than humans are of themselves.

As I reached my hand out for the doorknob all of a sudden the door slammed open as a figure stood outside looming over me like a giant.

Panic shot through me as I wondered if this was the person spilling everyone's secret.

I didn't dare to look up and thoughts of danger spun around like a circus.

My heart began beating like drums and my breathing was unstable.

"Who are you?" The voice demanded.
