CHAPTER 65

It has been a week since I brought Jellal to Porlyusica, and it has been one day since Jellal had been freed from the possession magic that controlled him. I was on high alert yesterday just in case if the caster of the spell would come knocking, but it seems that I was worried for nothing. I stayed up all night and I saw no intruder near Porlyusica's house, so I decided to get a little nap.

"Wake up, wake up, I said wake up!", Porlyusica said as she uses her broom to hit my face.

"What the--, Are you kidding me?!", I said as I woke up from a broom landing on my face.

"Jellal is awake, you can take him out of my house now", Porlyusica said with annoyance written all over her face.

"Seriously! You know you could have just woke me up like normal!", I replied as I stood up and went towards her house.

"When I'm back, the two of you better be out of my house. Healing Jellal had cost me most of my supplies and I will be sending you the bill", she said as she started walking towards town to replenish her stock of medical supplies.

I just sighed and entered her house. The moment I was inside, I saw a dejected Jellal. Did she just woke me up and left me to handle the emotional mess that is Jellal? Jellal is probably remembering all the things that his done in the past. He probably feels extremely guilty and Porlyusica immediately left me so that I could handle that problem.

'Stupid woman, I thought you were a doctor', I said in my head.

"Jellal? What did Porlyusica tell you before she left"

With a hollow look in his eyes, Jellal looks at me and said, "Your Enzo right? Porlyusica told me that you were the one who found out that another foreign energy existed within my body.... I guess I owe you my thanks".

"Don't mention it", I said. I could feel the pain he was under. It doesn't matter if he was under a possession spell. It was his body that forced people to become slaves, it was his body that led to the deaths of multiple people just so he could build the Tower of Heaven. For him, it doesn't matter who cast the possession spell, for Jellal, he is guilty of all those crimes.

"Come on. let's get out of her before Porlyusica comes back and forces us out with her broom", I said to him.

Jellal just nodded and weakly followed behind me.

As we were slowly walking towards Magnolia, Jellal who was walking a few paces behind me, said, "What now? What's going to happen to me?".

I glance at him and said, "For an entire week, Master Makarov has been lobbying for your behalf. And based on the last message he sent me, he said that the Magic Council is still 50-50 in what to do about your situation. Your predicament hasn't been told to the public in fear of causing mass fright. The knowledge that a Wizard Saint of the continent of Ishgar has been under a possession spell while he was part of the Magic Council isn't something that the public will keep quiet about. People would begin to fear their safety. And the Magic Council can't have their authority questioned. So, your case is in a delicate situation".

"I see....What are the two choices that they are 50-50 about?"

"One group wants to send you to prison for the rest of your life, while the other group can't see themselves sending an innocent man to prison. That's why I believe that you should go to the Magic Council and plead your case"

Jellal listened to what I said and he looks at the trees in the surroundings, "I think I should go to prison...I think that will be the best...I need to atone for my sins and I believe that is the right course of action to take".

"hmmm...", I said when suddenly I sense multiple presences coming directly towards us. I readied myself for battle and thought that perhaps maybe it was an enemy coming our way. It was only when I could see who the presences belong to did I relax.

"Jellal!"

"..Er....za...", Jellal said weakly.

"You're okay", Erza said as she went into a sprint and gave Jellal a tight hug.

The following people that were with Erza were team Natsu and Simon. Lucy went towards me and said, "We're sorry we couldn't stop her any longer. She really wanted to see him".

"How did you guys even know that he would be fine now?", I said to them. I told them before I left the ship in the resort that I would bring Jellal to Porlyusica, but I didn't tell them how long it would take for him to be cured.

"We didn't, we wanted to wait for you to tell us that Jellal's fine but Erza couldn't wait any longer", Gray responded.

I nodded in understanding. I then saw Simon clenching his fist as he looks at Erza and Jellal talking in the distance. He still didn't show his emotions on his face but I got a feeling that he didn't like seeing Erza with Jellal, perhaps he didn't like Erza being with another man.

Simon then looks at me and said, "What's going to happen to him now?".

"He will need to go to the Magic Council and plead for his case. He needs to do that now while he still has a group of people that are on his side. If he delays any longer then the chances of him being a free man would go down the drain", I replied.

It was at this moment that Erza drags Jellal towards us and said to me, "Enzo, Jellal said to me that you told him that he could go to prison and that the only chance of him not being sent there is for him to show himself to the Magic Council and make them acquit his case".

"That's right", I said to Erza. I then look at Jellal and said. "But Jellal doesn't want to do that, or does he?".

"What do you mean by that?", Erza said as she looks at Jellal.

With a pained look on Jellal's face, he said, "I'm guilty Erza, I did so many cruel things. I killed people, I manipulated people into servitude...", With tears flowing out of his eyes, "How will I be able to live with myself".

Erza was shocked at what Jellal said, she then placed her hand on Jellal's face and said in a loving voice, "You will be able to live with yourself cause I know you were innocent. And the council members need to know that too. In fact, everyone in the entire continent needs to know that you Jellal is an innocent man".

Jellal became quiet as tears began to fall from his eyes. To know that Erza doesn't blame him for his actions was something that meant a lot to him. Erza then once again gave Jellal a tight hug. She slowly rubs Jellal's back as Jellal places his head on Erza's shoulder and sob.

While this was happening I saw Simon quietly leaving the place.
