Ch 4: Ship and Job?

After meeting the crew, everyone rushes to their stations to set sail. Seeing the hustle for the first time surprises Tim causing him to stand in marveled shock unaware that directly behind him is the captain who pinches Tim's shoulder getting a yelp of surprise

"Ah, what was that for"

"Making sure you're awake kid, you don't want to miss this"

Not understanding what the captain meant Tim looks out the window seeing something he will never forget.

"Marvelous" was all Tim could utter seeing a sight words could hardly describe. The clouds spread out in all directions boundlessly. The sun peaked over the horizon causing the whole world to look like it was glowing and the ground, something Tim had never experienced before, was so vibrantly breathtaking.

"It's wonderful right" the captain says in a low voice.

"Ugh huh" Tim responds still at a loss for words.

"Alright welcome to the sky let's get you a room and a job" the captain pulls Tim from his stupor walking out the door expecting Tim to follow him. Not wanting to get lost Tim rushes to catch up with the unusually fast old man.

"Wait up, what do you mean a job" Tim asks panting. To his dismay the captain only responds with a smirk while increasing his pace causing Tim to have to jog to keep up.

"Here we are, just as he left it" the captain mutters opening one of the biggest rooms on the ship much to Tim's surprise.

"This is your room" the captain exclaims causing Tim to doubt his vision

"But..."

"Just accept it kid, this was Franks room back when he used to fly with me, anyways now off to your job."

Before getting the chance to question him or even process his last couple of statements cap grabs Tim and walks at a pace that Tim can't keep up with if he ran. after a couple of minutes the captain stops.

"Hey, Fred get out here this kid wants to learn to work"

Tim begins to think to himself on when he said anything like that, realizing that he never said that, Tim figures out that this journey is going to be a lot tougher than he thought. Although he doesn't mind working and would love to learn how the ship works who knows what else he'll end up "volunteering" for according to his captain. Seeing Tim's face Fred laughs understandingly.

"So cap what should I teach the kid engineering or flying"

Hearing that cap just smiles "teach him everything, once your done he'll learn from someone else until he understands what it means to be a skyfarer."

Hearing that he is to learn everything Tim's eyes go wide in shock wondering how many years it is going to take.

While Tim is dazed Fred quietly asks "hey cap when are you gonna put him through his enhancement to survive ground level" (this is necessary due to gravity being ten times that of the sky city Olympus and 20 times that of the other sky cities.) to his response the cap gives one of his famous smirks

"When he can keep up with my walk"

Fred just turns to Tim in pity knowing full well that cap is serious however he is also curious as to why cap would go through so much trouble for this kid. Before cap leaves he turns to Tim telling him he has training in 4 hours, and if he's late he doesn't get lunch. Seeing cap talking to him Tim wakes up from his thoughts and then follows Fred to the engine room to receive his first lesson on ship mechanics.
