Swoosh!
Cane Astro opened his eyes upon hearing an airy sound. He thought that he had died, but a cold feeling in his body led him to think otherwise. He saw himself lying down inside a lab capsule, naked.
'Where the hell am I?', he softly asked himself.
'Hello. You are in a high-tech survival bunker. I am Liz, the AI controlling the place.', a robotic sound echoed.
Cane was shocked when someone suddenly answered. AI?Survival bunker? At that moment, he was sure that he was not on a higher plane. He took some time to recall what happened and remembered that he collapsed when he 'treated' the beautiful golden-haired woman.
'Right. I should have died due to unknown energy stopping my heart from beating. Does that mean that I'm reincarnated or something? Could something like that really happen?'
Cane was naturally a level-headed man and knew that the place was not heaven or hell.
'Liz. What's my name?', he asked the AI.
'You are Cane Astro, son of Ranger Burnhill Astro and Viv Greenwood Astro.'
'What am I doing here? Where are my parents?', he added.
'You hibernated for 270 years. Liz does not have information about the whereabouts of your parents. If you want more information about your origins, Liz's programmer left a confidential folder in Liz's system. You just need to scan your right eye on the scanner.'
Shocking! Reincarnate with the same name? Possibly body? He tried to understand every detail that he had gotten so far. It was too much to take in. If he hibernated for 270 years, were his parents still alive? Just how different was the world outside? Eventually, he calmed down and decided to understand his circumstances, starting from what was in the bunker.
'Liz, do you have access to information outside this bunker?'
'Yes. This is the most advanced bunker made 270 years ago. It is equipped with self-sustaining power and taps into the satellite in space for connectivity and function.'
Cane tried to move his body inside the capsule, but he was startled to realize that he couldn't, no matter how hard he tried to exert force.
'You have a special situation that forced you to be hibernated. You are not able to move for now because your body prematurely woke up. You are scheduled to wake up in another 30 years, but a phenomenon outside caused the capsule to malfunction.', Liz stated.
Cane, as a medical doctor, understood right away. He concluded that this era that he was reincarnated in was more advanced than that of his previous life.
But what phenomenon could that be? What special case do I have? Does that mean that I will have to hibernate for another 30 years to have a healthy body?
Liz seemed to have known what was on Cane's mind and told-
'You are not able to hibernate remotely. The capsule has a special key to operate, and that requires physical intervention. Liz will not be able to do it. Do not worry, Liz is equipped with emergency life potions made by the Greed God Company, which could be used to attain a healthy body equal to thirty years of hibernation.'
Without waiting for Cane to say anything, a green-colored liquid can be found moving in one of the transparent tubes connected to the head of the capsule.
'Do not worry. It will not hurt and it should enable you to move around. Liz's programmer should have prepared everything for you. You just need to scan your right eye on the scanner when you get up.'
Cane did not utter a word as he got lost in the pleasant feeling of his body getting invigorated by the so-called Life Potion.
'Just how advanced is the technology in this world? In fact, everything here was from 270 plus years ago.', he silently thought.
Two hours after consuming the Life Potion, Cane started to move his fingers. Another 6 hours passed, and it enabled him to move his entire body.
Suddenly, a warning flashed on the huge monitor in front of the capsule.
It showed the vitals and current situation of his body. Liz announced the warnings and tried to rectify them, but the red blinking still went on.
Luckily, Cane was a doctor in his past life, so he understood what was going on inside his body.
'Fuck! How could this be? Flesh deterioration? Accelerated aging? This is not a special case, this body is simply cursed!', Cane screamed inside his head as he thought that he would die a second time in another tragic manner.
'Liz successfully analyzed the cause. Liz determined that the problem comes from your right eye and right hand. Liz detected two viruses in your body, causing deterioration and aging. This would not have happened if you had woken up 30 years later. Liz is still searching for a possible solution.', Liz's robotic voice can be heard unceasingly.
Cane did not want to accept his fate again. He wanted to live. He believed that his old life was cut too short and the reincarnation was his chance to live the life he wanted-a life full of adventure and not of monotonous and dull days.
He rapidly analyzed every piece of information available to him and hurriedly asked Liz-
'Liz. How much longer does the Life Potion last? Calculate it quickly.'
Liz answered that it would last for a month. He hurriedly told Liz to double the rate of the Life Potion.
It was successful. But before he got to sigh in relief, the rate of deterioration and aging spiraled out of control, and that led Liz to increase the rate of Life Potion being injected into his body.
'Liz. Give an estimate of my survival using the information of the current rate of deterioration and aging versus the injection rate of the Life Potion versus the Life Potion remaining quantity versus my projected body strength 30 years later.'
It took 5 minutes for Liz to answer-'Survival Rate is 0%.'
'(Sigh!) How could I be played to death two times in a row? Did my past lives commit too much evil and did it affect me through karma? What an unlucky life!
It did not take long for him to accept the fact that he would really die again. He was just grateful that he did not feel anything related to the deterioration and aging, or else it would be torture. It was like he was just waiting for the death reaper to come.
After 6 hours, he saw the state of his body on the monitor. He now looked like a skeleton with his skin slouching on the bones. His vitals continued to drop as his eyes slowly closed at the same time.
'Why do I suddenly feel warm? Could I be in hell? What truly rotten luck!', he thought, cursing.
He hurriedly opened his eyes. His naturally curious mind would not let the chance pass to see how a man goes to hell.
But this is not hell! This is the same bunker! I am still alive!
