Gerald Morgan followed his younger brother into the mansion. Orson led him into the family hall used to receive guests and gestured for him to sit down.
Gerald frowned. The Family Hall was vast and opulent; its ground was paved with clear and bright steel that contained slivers of gold. Glacial lamps burned at every lampstand. Everything in the hall showed the prosperity of the Morgan Family and gave face to both the visitor and the owner; but, Gerald was not pleased.
Down the hall, there was a smaller sitting room bare of such luxuries. Orson actually received his intimate guests there. Gerald had always been entertained there.
Orson's Dao accomplishment parties, his wedding reception, Lyle's birthdays and even his younger son Levi's naming ceremony had all been celebrated there. That place contained all of the memories of their past, both joys and sorrows.
