CHAPTER 8 – The Bonds

Cho – Hee POV

Knock * Knock –

"It's me girls, open the door!"

Creak… As the door slowly opens, I saw Emma standing in front of me.

"You are here, What about Alvin?"

"He went outside for a bit, I think he might have gone to look for a new sword for himself."

"Oh… yeah, he had to get a new sword!" Looks like Emma nearly forget about his sword.

As I entered the room, I saw Sakura sitting on the bed and decided to sit next to her.

"So, what were you guys talking about just now?"

"Nothing much, just some random stuff.", Emma replies as she grabbed a chair from behind.

"Aren't you both tired from this long journey?"

Emma replied, "Not really, I think it was a fun experience."

"Oh yeah, it was a good experience.", I think they enjoyed the journey to the capital.

Emma seats down on the chair.

"Hey Cho, What do you think, can go back home?"

Huh?... That was out of the blue.

"Well, it's hard to say. We don't even know how and why are we even here."

As I answer Emma's question, I couldn't help but notices Emma and Sakura both getting their faces down in concern.

They are worried about home, I guess it's hard for anyone to stay somewhere far away from home. No matter what, in the end, anyone will think about what's happening back at home.

If I remember correctly, on our first day here even Alvin asked the same question. I wonder why I don't really care in which world I am right now?

Am I being selfish to think this way?

Anyway, this silence after one question, I need to lighten up the atmosphere a bit.

Ahem*

"Don't worry, Alvin will find a way. He decided to visit the capital so that he can gather more information."

Emma and Sakura chuckled a bit, then while smiling a bit, Emma says, "Alvin, that guy is thinking way too ahead of us as we speak."

Sakura grabbed a pillow in her arm and hugged it tightly.

"I know right? He thinking about all of us at the same time. I think we wouldn't be able to manage everything."

I chuckled a bit at Sakura's comment but I know they are not wrong, even if we are supposed to be strong according to our levels. We wouldn't be able to manage everything.

Either way, without realizing it. We did depend on him at certain times.

Looking around, it's not just with Alvin, I think we girls also understand each other more than before now.

Sakura suddenly grabbed my hand and says, "does Alvin do anything at night? If yes, you can always come to our room."

As soon as Sakura finishes her question Emma also suddenly asks, "Oh yes, what do you guys do at night?", she stares into my eyes as she asks the question.

Wait, What are they thinking?

"No, there is nothing to worry about. To begin with, he doesn't even sleep at night."

"Wait, what do you mean that he doesn't sleep?"

Ah, I shouldn't have brought this topic, I guess I have to tell them now.

Sighs…

"Back in Port city, He didn't sleep in the inn and throughout our journey to the capital, I doubt he slept because whenever I wake up in the middle of the night. I found him missing or just staring at the moon."

Well, he did his best to hide it but you can't hide it every time.

"So you are saying that past one week he didn't sleep even for a few minutes?" As Emma keeps staring into my eyes.

I guess, she is confused, well I know it is weird that a person is busy throughout the day and still unable to sleep at night. To be honest, he doesn't even look like he is tired or sleepy.

"So, Alvin is sick? Or is there any other reason?", Sakura asks with a concerned face.

Wait, Sakura is also concerned?

"Don't worry Sakura, I don't know for sure because he doesn't really talk about it but I think he is not sick at all. If there will be an issue he would have said something."

Emma suddenly stands up and speaks, "I have an idea! How about we monitor him tonight."

Monitor him tonight?

"I don't think it is a good idea and he might not like it."

Sakura also speaks, "I think it's a good idea. Let's see what he always does at night."

Wait, not you too, we shouldn't do that.

...This is going to be one hell of a night tonight…

Alvin POV

[few minutes before…]

There are so many food stalls, weapon/equipment shops, and even clothing stores here.

"As expected of capital, Let's go and buy a sword."

As I keep on walking, I found an equipment shop name 'Nexus'. As I entered the shop I can see all types of swords, armor, and other equipment around the shop.

"Who are you? What do you want?", A dwarf with a big hammer in his hand came outside. Is he the owner of this place?

"I am looking for a sword."

"Whatever, go ahead and pick one. Honestly, It feels like young people these days are looking for a sword every day!"

Wow, what a hotheaded guy. Why everyone is angry these days?

Never mind, Let's just pick a sword.

At the corner of the room, I saw something glowing.

"Is it a sword? Why does it look like it is glowing?"

"Glowing, did you just say glowing?", The Dwarf approached me, with a shocked face.

"You can see the sword glowing?", Dwarf asks me again.

Maybe I shouldn't have said that out loud. Did I say something weird?

"Yeah, can't you also see it glowing?"

That dwarf coughed a bit like clearing his voice then speaks, "What's your name kid?"

Uh… Why is he asking for my name now?

Should I tell him, Hmm….

Whatever,

"I'm Alvin Gray. I recently arrived here in the capital."

"Alvin, I see. Don't worry, you can take that sword. It's old so just give me two silvers for it."

I looked back at the sword. He said it is old but there is not even rust on the blade. Wait, what if it is really old? Should I look for another sword?

But… this sword's design is simple but still looks way too good.

What should I do???

"Make sure you keep your sword in good condition kid." The Dwarf guy says this as I was leaving the shop.

In the end, I ended up buying the sword. I hope it was a good idea.

Even that dwarf guy was weird till the end, right before I was closing the door behind as I exits the shop. He kept staring at me intensely.

That feels weird. I wonder what he was thinking.

Sighs…

Let's go back to the inn and relax.

I wonder what are the girls doing back at the Inn.

As I was on my way back, I saw a library on the left side of the street.

"Was it also here before? How did I miss it earlier on my way here? "

Looking at the sky It's getting dark but not completely dark yet. Should I look inside?

Nah... Maybe I will come back later, It will be dark soon.

What am I thinking? Let's go back.
