Enemies Lurking

In a dark room, elves were gathering. "Well, old friend, I suppose your plan failed. Several of those who followed us perished because of the betrayal. Not even I know how they found out we sent those maps to the orcs." An elf with his face covered just watched the campfire. "The trolls will gather soon. They'll attack there and we can finish off that elf who follows the Sun King." Everyone fell silent and looked at each other. "So be it, for one more day of life, gentlemen."

Gadon observed his grape plantation. With the help of the druids, all the plants quickly grew. The players were jumping around and Ponpota was showing off his flying mount, as several players had also managed to obtain a dragon egg. They realized here you had to feed the mount, which didn't bother them at first, but then it did because it was a special food only sold in the game store. This left them stunned and angry because the game always wants to take their money. Gadon just laughed. The players looked at him strangely but no one said anything, and they all went about their business.

Before he could do anything, Gadon remembered what he had discussed with the Sun King. The king had just told him to prepare, as the corrupt nobles would soon attack. That's why he summoned the players, so they could protect him and also train. The Windrunner family helped the players familiarize themselves with the game - it was like the tutorial for them, but they mostly trained hunters. Several players complained about this, but Gadon couldn't do anything.

Before they realized it, night had fallen. Several players decided to spend the night with the Windrunner family. They realized they could enter the structure, not like in the game where you could only see the facade of the building, making this world seem really existent. When they spoke to Sylvanas, she only nodded her head. Some told her about her future, that she would die by a prince's hand, making the ranger Sylvanas laugh.

While everyone was enjoying the Windrunner family's welcome, several hooded, black-clad figures approached the place. Gadon observed the party and just sighed. Ponpota approached him, asking, "What new adventure are we headed towards?" Gadon just watched the party and told him, "First we must help the Sun King. You don't want what happened in the game to happen, do you?" Several people in the stream wrote that they didn't, and advised eliminating the corrupt nobles. "That was already done. The problem is some corrupt nobles managed to escape judgment against them, implying they were innocent. This angered the Sun King, so he was hoping I could obtain proof before it was too late."

Gadon suddenly realized an artifact was awakening. When the artifact appeared in his notifications, he could only see that it said "The Artifact of Loan is available." He didn't understand until he saw the Artifact of Loan's ability - it could loan the power of any being in the Warcraft universe. He tried it and realized he could choose several characters that don't exist yet and may never exist. He could even transform into characters from other timelines like Garrosh Hellscream. Thinking about transforming into him, he felt his body growing larger. Before he realized it, several players looked at him and everyone shouted "Event!", even those in the stream realized something was happening. But since they could only see from Gadon's perspective, they didn't understand what was going on.

The players drew their weapons, but realized the character that appeared had his name in green, so he wasn't an enemy. This disappointed many and reassured others. Before they could sheathe their weapons, hooded elves entered and attacked the players. Before they could counterattack, several players had already died. Gadon realized he possessed Frostmourne - with this weapon he wanted to attack the hooded elves. When he eliminated one, he felt the sword stealing his soul, remembering that was the sword's best ability.

Before he could think, several elves were already attacking him. Unable to defend himself, he received several stabbings. Before he could do anything, the players quickly helped him. He realized he possessed the power but was not invincible, and since it was just a loan, it wasn't maximum power. But he realized the artifact could be upgraded, but of course it cost 10 million gold to upgrade it, implying it would take him time to improve it.

The players quickly counterattacked, leaving those who were hooded either dead or badly injured. They realized that before they could question them, they had already eliminated themselves, likely to leave no evidence. The Windrunner family also helped in the fight but were protected by several players, leaving them saddened.

Seeing everyone was fine, Gadon decided to use the loaned power to at least resurrect one of the elves who attacked them. When it worked, he asked the elf who he was in life. The elf just said he was a mercenary and they were paid a good amount of gold to eliminate everyone at this party. When Gadon asked who had hired them, the artifact's power ran out, eliminating the resurrected elf. This disappointed Gadon, but he realized he had to move if the corrupt nobles didn't eliminate him.

Several players realized Gadon had a mission. When they tried to accept it, they saw its name: "My Enemies in the Grave." Several were surprised, and others thought upon accepting it, it just said to discover who the corrupt nobles were. The mission had a two-week time limit, making the players hurry to complete it.

Gadon just watched as several players set out to complete the mission, making him sigh since they really were a great help, because even with the power of artifacts he couldn't do it alone. Ponpota looked at him and opened a portal to the city of Silvermoon. Gadon bid farewell to the Windrunner family, thanked Ponpota, and entered the portal.

Before he could look around, he realized several players had already arrived. He assumed they also used the portal artifact. He noticed several players asking about evil nobles, but the citizens just looked at them like idiots, since to them all nobles are evil. Everyone in the chat started thinking, and several laughed because the players themselves didn't know how to play - to them it was just ask, get the answer, and complete the mission. Some who had played role-playing games prepared to speak politely and even bribe some for information. This worked for some but others were arrested by the guards, making those watching Gadon's stream laugh more. Gadon also smiled, remembering how foolish players could be, and how foolish he himself was when he was a player.
