The Ordinary Transporter - Chapter 2

'Great, the medical center has been built long before the fight ends. Next is to upgrade the walls and recruit more troops.'

Ryze gazes on the new build farm from the system map while smiling to himself.

'Pfft, what am I doing. As if I am the one that built it. No matter what, after upgrading the walls I need to solely focus on the farm. I wouldn't want to steal any more resources from the innocent.'

Ryze jumps to his bed while giving off a sigh of relief. A couple of seconds later, tears start building up once again.

'Stop thinking of the past and get over it.'

No matter what Ryze tries to do, he is unable to stop thinking about the lives that he had played with. That night he had nightmares of seven hundredths and eighty-three troops screaming to him for help.

'What a nightmare...' Ryze wipe the sweat on his forehead before taking another look at the new card that he received.

'Targeted transporters will be able to carry twice the amount of resources. Well, I got to say. I have no idea when I will use this card. Time to get up and exercise.'

Ryze continues to focus on stabilizing the amount of food by building more farms and increase food research. The next day, Ryze deployed at least twenty thousand men to eliminate another two thousand of demon wolves. General Vincent is chosen this time. In fact, for the next two fights with the wolves, General Elizabeth was not chosen.

'Elizabeth will not be able to fight properly without her bodyguard by her side. That's what I taught. I regret not deploying her because the very next day, a rumor was spread.'

They started throwing pebbles and pieces of food towards general Elizabeth. When confronted by such people, Elizabeth seems to accept the punishment.

'This is getting a little bit out of hand. I hate her, but I don't hate her to that extent. It's time to deploy her then.'

"Orders from the royal court! Those that wish to test themselves to join the front line step forth! Of course, this comes with benefits as well as risks." The bodyguard yell at the top of her voice.

The supposedly strong and mighty voice, instead receive much criticism. The men jeer and show extreme displeasure.

'The fight is unsurprisingly easy. As expected ten thousand men are indeed too little to lower the morale of these wolves.'

Ryze suddenly flinch. It felt that someone put their weight down on his left shoulder. He turns and unexpectedly finds general Elizabeth smiling at him.

'W-Why is she here?' Caught unguarded, Ryze didn't expect the general to approach him of all people.

"Great work, Elie." Ryze unconsciously addresses the general as if he is the player. Too immerse to realize what he had done.

"Ye...Eh?" General Elizabeth turns to get surprised.

"Eh?" Ryze also, in turn, realize what he had done.

"HOW DARE YOU ADDRESS OUR GENE..." The bodyguard voices out her opinion but is cut off by Elizabeth.

"Calm down, Sally. No fighting. We should celebrate instead. You, what's your name?" General Elizabeth glance at Ryze waiting for his answer.

"Ryze ma'am." Ryze manages to catch the slight frown by Elizabeth when he calls her ma'am.

"Ryze, great name. Nice meeting you." General Elizabeth gives Ryze a bright smile before turning around and walking back to the camp.

"General, why did you give that transporter your attention?" Sally question her general but she is stunned once she receives one of the most deadly answers.

"I...Don't know. He feels like someone I know previously." Elizabeth tilts her head, questioning the reason herself.

Sally immediately give the transporter a death glare while muttering something under her breath.

Ryze scratches his head while looking at the situation unfolds. He opens the kingdom map and proceeds to level up the storage so that there won't be a situation in which there is excess food that will be wasted.

'I will need to increase the number of resources I have. At my level, the resources needed to upgrade are sufficient, as an example to upgrade my farm, it will cost me 40,000 wood and 10,000 iron, but once these buildings are level 10 and above the resources required are tremendous, it would reach up to 2 million wood per upgrade. I could perhaps continue to deploy until I can afford to defeat the Rank 2 monsters.'

'For that to work, I need more men within my army ranks. Especially generals that allows me to deploy more at once. The downfall is that I have not enough knowledge about this world. It seems like the world where I play the game but at the same time it doesn't. I wonder how are my instructions are passed through to the royalty.'

Ryze flips through the help page within his system and looked through the currency of the world.

100 Bronze coin is an equal value of 1 Silver coin. 100 Silver coin is an equal value of 1 gold coin. 1 gold coin can allow a commoner family of four, having normal lives with 3 meals on the table for 4 months.

Once Ryze arrived back to his room, he quickly changed to casual and set out to patrol the streets. During his free time when there's nothing to do while waiting for the upgrades to be completed, Ryze set out to look at the construction and how the information is passed one.

A man ran past Ryze while holding onto a piece of parchment while looking motivated and excited.

'A list of ingredients to be obtained to upgrade the storage. I see it's common sense to think that wood and iron is not enough to upgrade the storage. I wonder if they use the resources that are used as barter. Hmm?'

A priest wearing a red robe came out from the storage building. Everyone around him seems to respect him as they bow to him as pass. Ryze's eyes meet contact with the priest, at that moment the priest seems to stagger unexpectedly.

'Is he the one that receives my instructions?'

Ryze wanted to meet and talk to the priest but unfortunately, he seems to be in a hurry as he rushes pass to the other direction. The priest turns his head straight to Ryze before he turns left.

"We should celebrate today! Ouch! What did you do that for? B-Boss!"

"Complete your work before you get distracted. Have you did what I ask you to?"

"N-No haven't yet..."

"What are you waiting for?"

"A-At once! Oh, can we help you?"

"Excuse me for asking, are you guys rebuilding the storage?" Ryze approached the two men to know more about how the world and the system works.

"Not rebuilding but we're upgrading! There's a big difference! B-Boss stop pushing me around... Okay fine, see you later!"

"Hello there, administrator, how can I help you?"

Ryze pauses himself for a moment to try to understand what was the man was saying.

"No, I am not an administrator. I am from the army, a transporter. I was just curious when I saw the priest that just came out from the building." Ryze took out his badge and shows the man.

"Transporter huh? Don't you know priest Murphy?"

"Is there something abnormal inside that a priest needs to be here?"

"Eh? Hahahahaha no nothing to worry he is just here to inform us that we can start our upgrading."

"Priest grant permission nowadays?"

"Hahaha, priest Murphy is the one that can hear our god instructions. He usually informs the administrator and they will then pass down the information but due to our close relationship he drops us a visit."

"What if he was saying false statements?"

"... A non-believer huh. This is how we work around here. If you are curious go and visit priest Murphy to get more information."

"Will do, nice meeting you."

"You too."

The middle-aged man frowns and he appears to disfavor someone that is a non-believer. The man waits for Ryze to walk away before he turns in to the storage building.

Meanwhile, Ryze did not immediately go to the church to speak to priest Murphy but he when back to his room to think about what just happen.

'The church holds more power than I thought. To make a change, I will need to convince the church rather than Royalty. Wait, if that's the case shouldn't Muphy be the person that is hard to meet? Nevermind that, I am much more curious about how he received my instructions.'
