Lanie sighed before she stood up. She fixed her oversized t-shirt then, brushed her hair. She looked at Tyler who was still staring at her, weighing her reactions and moves. She began to walk and passed him. He remained standing there, and didn't look at her. Lanie stopped in front of her room door.
"What happened earlier…" she said, and didn't turn to look at him. "That was just an act. Just forget it." she continued before she went inside her room, leaving him there.
Lanie threw herself on the bed and stared at the ceiling. She stared at it without thinking anything. Her mind went blank. Minutes later, she put her hands on her face and groaned. She lay face down and buried her face on the pillows.
"What the hell did I do…" she said after she looked again at the ceiling. She groaned again and forced herself to sleep. She has work tomorrow. She should sleep. Yeah, she should.
Hours had passed, her eyes were still wide awake. She couldn't sleep because every time she closed her eyes, what happened between her and Tyler at the couch kept on flashing in her mind and she was going to get crazy!
"I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have told him to make that scene with me." She groaned again and put her pillow on her face and screamed while kicking her feet. It's almost sunrise and here she is, still wide awake. She had no choice but to get up in her bed and go to the bathroom. She made sure that Tyler's door was locked before she took her shower.
She walked like a zombie while going to her cabinet to get her clothes. She still was not in her right mind when she was putting on her makeup, thankfully, her makeup was done nicely despite that. It was already 7 o'clock when she went outside her room. The whole unit was silent and there was no aroma of food. Her brows furrowed. She looked at the couch. She noticed that the blanket was still there at the place where she left it last night. She went to the kitchen and it was clean. There was no food at the table.
"He left early? But… he is normally cooking breakfast…." She shook her head. Ignoring all the thoughts in her mind. She got fresh milk, then ate a piece of bread before she went to work.
"Good morning!" Althea greeted her. She smiled at her and waved to Penelope who just arrived next to her.
"Ah! We are back to reality. Work again." Althea half joked. Penelope just laughed and went to the locker to change her clothes.
"Where's Mark?" Lanie asked Althea. Althea gave her a malice smile before wiggling her eyebrows.
"We left Mark there with you that night. What happened between you two?" she asked. Lanie smirked at her before shaking her head.
"What? Nothing! We just talked about random things." she chuckled. Althea shrugged while giving her a meaningful smile.
"Mark's checking the VIP rooms together with the cleaning team." she said. Lanie nodded then went to the locker room.
Luckily,Lanie managed to focus on her work without thinking what happened last night. No. In fact, she was distracting herself again to her work so she will not remember that. Since the holiday just ended almost all of their guests were checking out of the hotel so they were busy assisting them.
Even Though she was busy, she still managed to always go to the lobby. Her first reason was she needed to escort the guests. And her second reason was to see if the CEO, Mr. Tyler Lancaster finally went to work. Since she went to work, she saw every person in and out of the hotel but no Tyler Lancaster appeared, not even his shadow. But then again, she remembered what Althea said before, that Tyler seldom visits this hotel because this hotel was just one of his hotels in the country. In Addition to that, he has a project with Hossler so he is probably busy visiting the site and meeting for the construction plans of the new hotel at Hossler's beach resort.
Lanie sighed after she went out to their locker room. Althea, Penelope and Mark already went home. She worked overtime today because the guest where she was assigned suddenly had a problem.
Her brows furrowed when she saw a familiar man leaning on his car on the other side of the road. He was looking at her while playing his keys. She crossed to the road and walked to where the man was. She crossed her arms on her chest and gave the man a sarcastic smile.
"Oh! You're still alive?" she asked, sarcastically. He chuckled and tilted his head.
"I went to your place yesterday but you weren't there," he said. She opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. What will she say? That she is now living with her boss? No way! She will not say that to him and her friends. She hoped that Althea didn't know about that, though.
"Why are you here, Alvarez? How dare you to showed up here after declared that Mr. Lopez case was a suicide and not a murder when you all have the evidences that will point Mrs. Hossler that she poisoned him!" She said, quite angry at the same time, irritated at him. The Lieutenant only sighed and raised his both arms while nodding, surrendering to her.
"That was why I went to your apartment yesterday. I want to explain my side, okay?" he said calmly. When Lanie rolled her eyes on him, Alvarez lowered his arms and opened the door of his car. Lanie went inside and put her seatbelt on. After he closed her door she, once again, looked at the hotel, thinking that maybe, just maybe, he was there standing near the entrance or he visited the hotel late in the afternoon… but he was not there. She did not see him. There was no Tyler Lancaster at Pyeha Hotel today. She looked straight in front when Alvarez opened the door, went to the driver seat and drove to her apartment.
