The Multiverse System

[WELCOME TO THE MULTIVERSE SYSTEM.] [USER NAME: THOMAS NOLAND]…. What if, every time you made a significant decision, a new, alternate reality or universe was created—the life that would have occurred had you made the other choice? What if those realities/universes were jeopardized? What if it's up to you to keep those realities/universes alive? Thomas Noland, also known as Tom, is a typical fifteen-year-old boy until a strange letter arrives in his mailbox. The letter, postmarked from Alsace and cryptically signed with the initials "M.S," informs Tom that dangerous—perhaps even lethal—events have been set in motion, which may result in the destruction of reality/universe itself. M.S. promises to send Tom 12 riddles that will reveal something extraordinary that will happen on a specific day, time, and location. Will Tom have the courage to partake in this wild goose chase? Will he be able to solve those riddles? What choice will he make? Quit? or Solve?   Another volume of the intriguing children's and young adult fantasy series, THE MULTIVERSE SYSTEM, is filled with adventures, riddles, and um—danger too. What do you think about this universe and realities? Tom was warned that a dangerous event was coming his way. Will you join Tom on this wonderful journey through the multiverse system? What would be your choice?

The yellow strange letter

The bed squeaked as Tom flopped down next to the pillow after arguing with his mom that his room was the worst. The little room with a wardrobe on the extreme side of the wall after seeing the door and the table. On the window side was a milk netted curtain with designs of wooled butterflies. That in particular sickened Tom; that was when he knew Mom had arranged the room for him. He trudged towards the wardrobe and opened it. His clothes were well put away and neatly hung.

Then he pulled out his shoes and said, "Yuck!" He couldn't stand the smell. "I shouldn't have lasted that long in that closet," he grumbled as he tossed the shoes into the wardrobe. He wrung his toes, which made some cracking noises, before walking to his bed. The walls of his room were empty; there was no wallpaper. There are no pictures of his best sci-fi heroes—Star Wars. "This room really needs a makeover." He lay on the bed, puffing out air from his mouth and ending up making an unintelligible sound from it. He knew he was super bored. "I should go out and have a look."

"Tom!"

Holding the banister and sliding down the stairs, "Yepppee!" His mom saw that, and he already knew what she'd say. "Tom, stop sliding through the banisters." As he silently mimicked Mom, he rolled his eyes.

She pointed towards the couch, "You got a mail, It's right there." She went off to do some other things. "Where's your dad?"

"I don't know," Tom replied quickly as she exited the back door. He trodded to the couch, curious and a bit intense. He was puzzled as to who had sent it.

Seeing the neat yellow envelope and wanting to pick it up, he heard some footsteps coming down the stairs heavily. "Why are you bending over the couch?" He turned sharply just to lock eyes with his annoying sister. "Nothing," he said. Tom squatted slowly with his hands on his back. He was able to pick up the envelope.

"What is that?" Lorena noticed his weird behaviour, but she didn't much care to get an answer from him. She went for her phone, which she left near the rack. Turning back, Tom was still there looking at her.

"Weirdo," she grunted before going to the stairs—probably to her room.

Tom didn't wait for her door to close; he rushed to his room and shut the door behind him. Thump!, The bed shook greatly as he fell on it.

'Who might have sent me a letter?' He thought. Nobody came to his mind because he never had real friends, only bullies. "Do they miss me that much?" Tom shrugged, "They should."

He stared at the envelope for some time. The surface was neat and clean, with no written words. He flipped it over—nothing there either.

He wedged his finger under the sealed flap on the back and ripped the envelope open. At the top, a simple rectangular piece of white plain paper became visible. At the bottom, an initial: M.S. He became baffled, 'M.S?' Curious, he stared at the mysterious letter for a moment, racking his brain. Who could possibly have written to him with an initial M.S.

Pulling out the letter completely, he saw his name scribbled on it boldly—THOMAS NOLAND—and his address scrawled on it neatly. The postmark smeared on top of it said, "Mulhouse, Alsace". The upper left corner of the envelope had no return address.

"Mulhouse? Alsace? Is this somewhat of a joke? Was it his sister and she's trying to play dumb about it? No, it couldn't possibly be her because she never had time to play pranks on him, even on April Fools' Day. Then who is it?, the bullies? They had no idea I was leaving Deer Park; nobody did," Tom said abruptly, shaking his head.

The white paper was folded, so when he unfolded it, he saw a long message. Baffled, Tom began to read.

Dear Master Thomas,

I am writing to you in hopes that you will have the courage.

of heart and the solidity of mind to help.

I am in a most dreadful time of need.

Things are literally splitting apart at the seams.

As it were, I have to find those who will

Help me with some very serious matters.

These are messages and clues that'll lead you to an important mission.

If you choose, your destiny will be extremely dangerous.

This is something beyond your point of view.

It can thrill you to the point of madness.

I will say nothing further. And expect more

several things. Like I said, it'll thrill you to

a point of madness, but if you don't want it, burn this

letter. I'll know when you do, and I'll immediately cease to disturb you.

But if this letter stays for one week without being burnt,

I'll know you've chosen to help me, and you'll begin to receive the twevle clues.

Many lives are at stake; know this before you decide.

And they depend totally on the choice you make today.

Do you have the courage to face what's beyond you?

Do be careful; extremely dangerous events are coming your way once you choose to partake.

Respectfully, yours

M.S.

Tom starred at the letter for like ten minutes, reading it over and over again. He was clouded with thoughts and confusion about who and what the letter might be from. His head was filled with haziness, then he slept off.
