Oh My Heart

'You...saw my mom?' she whispered.

Falcon's heart began a dull sort of throbbing, that he could only characterize as an "ache." It took every fiber of his being to not collapse under the despair that hit him. Aurelia had found out, and how it would affect her, Falcon knew full well.

He knew she was going to do something extremely reckless in anger.

The silence was absolute as everybody either scuffed the ground with their feet or looked up at him to see how he would respond.

His stomach churned until he thought he was going to be sick.

'And...you just thought...that hiding it from me was the right thing...?' Aurelia said, and Falcon wished she would stop whispering like that.

'Aurelia...' Cyan came to his rescue. His good old friend. 'You see, we were going to tell you, yes, but not like this.'

'Then how?' She was whispering still.

And yet Falcon couldn't find in himself something to say. Where were words when he needed them?
