Golden maggot

As the three friends split up, the twins followed the guard towards the general's office in the main building of the base.

[General Adam]

Standing in front of the general's office, the guard knocked on the door and waited for a reply.

"You may come in"

Entering the office, the guard walked a few steps in before abruptly coming to a stop and announced himself.

"Private Arden, asking for permission to speak"

"Go on" Said the general without breaking eye contanct from the report he was going through.

"Sir, these two twins came to enlist in the military today and both possess unique traits"

Hearing the guards statement the general looked at Lark and Eona for a few seconds trying to analyse them.

Noticing there peculiar appearance, he was about to then proceed with asking follow up questions before noticing something on them that caused his eyes to be wide open.

Standing up from his chair he then said "Private you are excused and good job on escorting them here"

After tge guard left the office the general told the twin to sit down.

"Before I start with the follow-up questions regarding your unique traits, can you tell me how you obtain those pendants?"

Seeing no reason to lie, Lark answered "We were found with a box the housed these pendants by an orphanage in of Alfall"

"Is it that village that was recently raided by goblins?"

"Yes sir" Replied Lark

'hmmm, they do resemble that well known noble family with that shade of red hair and emerald eyes and they have the family's Coat of Arms... I will have to ask that abnoxious general of theirs about this matter and just thinking about him is causing me to have a headache'

"...sigh" sighing while rubbing his temples, the general decided to leave this matter for now, started to ask them about their unique traits.

"You boy, what's the name of your trait and a brief description of what it does"

"Mine is called {Dawnbringer} and at the first level allows me to utilise offensive light magic" said Lark, without mentioning the fact that it gives him a power boost during the morning.

"Interesting... light magic and specifically offensive light magic is considered extremely rare.

If this rare form of magic is available at the first level of your trait i wonder what you will unlock later on... What about you girl? what is your trait?"

"Mine is called is called {Star-gazer}, and it says it allows me to use a star magic"

Hearing this general Adam stood up from his seat and said

"WHAT!? I've never heard of this type of magic before... it doesn't fall under any of the main elements of magic nor their varient.

Alright, now that i have finished with the follow up questions, we can send you to the main military base located in the capital for some basic training for the duration of one year. After this training an examination will be done to determine if you are talented enough to join the Royal Coalition Academy"

"Umm... sir can i speak?" said Lark

"Go ahead" nodded the general

Gaining permissionto speak, Lark continued "Our friend Aeon also joined the army, he's the same age as us but much stronger, although he is unawakened he still has time to do so. Can he also come with us?"

"I'm afraid I cannot allow that. Although you say he is much stronger than you, he will be a hindrance to your progression and will never be able to keep up with you, due to him being unawaked.

The chances of him awakening are extremely low and your case is already extremely rare, so i suggest you move on with your life as your potential is very high"

At the same time inside the recruits training grounds....

A group of kids of both sexes at the same age could be seen lined up in multiple rows with equal spaces between them as a drill sergeant with medium built walked between them. After a few minutes of silence the sergeant stood at the front and said with a loud voice

"What a joke. Recruits keep getting worse and worse each year while monster keep getting stronger. LOOK AT YOU BUNCH OF MAGGOTS!

Everyone thinner than the other! If you ever want to survive out in the real world you better put on some meat and muscles!"

"I want every single one of you to run finish 200 pushups and 15 laps around this military facility" ordered the drill sergeant after blowing his whistle.

5 minutes later, Aeon was already done with his pushups and proceeded to exit the training ground to finish the 15 laps around the military facility.

This highly impressed the drill sergeant as he took interest in the golden haired youth.

After half an hour of running around the 8 squared kilometers military facility, Aeon completed his 15 laps while barely breaking a sweat.

Noticing this, the drill sergeant the shouted " IT SEEMS WE HAVE A GOLDEN MAGGOT IN YOUR MIDST"
