Chapter 2: Bones

I stare at the enemy before me, a giant rat

[Giant Rat HP: 10/10 MP: 0/0]

'This should be easy' I thought

I make the first move to break the standoff by firing a [Necrotic Bolt] at the creature

Woah 3 damage? Oh right that's because my staff increased the damage by 10%

It squeaks in pain and runs towards me, I fire 3 more [Necrotic Bolt]s at it, killing it

I smile and come over to the rotting corpse of the giant rat and drag it over behind a rock where I activate my skill [Prepare Lesser Corpse].

I press 'Zombie' and suddenly the body is highlighted and it shows me where to cut, what to avoid, and even where all the organs are, it's basically just a guide on how to prepare a zombie like it said, I guess it was really that simple.

I take out the Necromancer's Tools and start cutting into the Rat and soon all its intestines are out on display, slowly but surely I make my way through the rat, being careful not to damage any of its parts, and soon enough close it up.

I smile 'so I get XP just from doing things a necromancer should? Great!' I thought and soon got up, I used up 20 Stamina to create that zombie rat and was panting slightly.

I reach out and then cast [Animate Lesser Corpse] on the corpse and black mist spews from my hand and dives towards the corpse before entering through every hole in its body and it looks like something is squirming inside before it finally settles down and the rat opens its eyes before standing up and staring up at me.

I stare back at it as I felt a mental connection between us and I got a notification

[You have raised your first successful minion! You gain 10 XP and unlock the [Subordinates] tab!]

[You have created your first Zombie Minion! You gain 10 XP!]

"Oh cool a new tab" I say to myself and this time instead of saying it out loud I try saying it in my head 'Subordinates' and sure enough it pops up.

I nod to myself and think for a moment "hmm.. I wonder if there is a quests tab" I mutter "Quests"

Create a Humanoid Undead Minion- 50 XP

Create a Skeletal Minion- 10 XP]

'Oh cool, there's AI and everything! I wonder what it'll do' I thought 'I wonder what Hero Status is'

I then hunt down another Giant Rat and create a Skeletal Rat.

I smile in satisfaction at my 2 minions and check their stats

I tap on their 'Bite' skill

Deals 10% Piercing damage and adds the [Bleeding] Status effect]

"Ah- that sucks" I say "but it's not much better than my Necrotic Bolt"

I let them lead the way and we clear up a few more rats

And soon enough I come across something new, a skeleton just standing straight up holding a sword in one hand and a shield in the other.

I sneak up behind it and fire a [Necrotic Bolt] at it and it… looks shinier?

The skeleton turns around suddenly and charges towards me "P-Protect me!" I yell and my Giant Rats both charge at the skeleton and knock it down before they keep attacking it, the skeleton tries to fight back but my rats savagely rip out its spine and crush its head.

I was surprised at how fast my rats took the thing down

I realize that I have yet to allocate my AP and do that

I put 2 into Endurance, 5 into Charisma, and the final 3 into Magic.

The reason why I put any into charisma and Endurance is because I don't want to be 50% uglier than the normal person, I just want to look average. I also put 2 into Endurance to round out my endurance to 50 because even a rat could take me down eventually and do not get me started on if that skeleton attacked me.

I go over to the skeleton and activate [Prepare Lesser Corpse]. It didn't even give me the option this time and immediately showed me what I needed to do.

[Skeletal Assassin]

Excuse me whaaat? I mean I guess I have to choose one but I can't believe I got 3 full options! I was really missing out with my rats.

I decided to press [Skeletal Warrior] because that's what I need right now: a bodyguard. It immediately shows me what to do.

I take leather bindings and bind the bones together with them, after I make sure they stay in place and soon the process is done, it's rather simple: you just bind the bones together with leather bindings and then cast [Animate Lesser Corpse].

I cast [Animate Lesser Corpse] and black fog erupts from my fingertips and travels to the body and soon enough after the smoke dissipates the skeleton stands up with its glowing red eyes and stares down at me, I am 5 foot 8 inches tall and the skeleton is easily over 6 feet.

I summon my two rats, causing them both to flop down on the floor, dead, and quickly collect the leather bindings from the skeleton rat to conserve resources.

My subordinate suddenly kneels down before me and clacks its jaw, causing me to smile.

"Well aren't you a gentleman? Well I guess I should name you… as my first skeleton I dub thee… Rattlebones"

Oh- sick, I didn't know that there were hidden quests but I guess it makes sense: they are hidden after all.

Me and Rattlebones start to head deeper into the cave.
