CHAPTER EIGHT

Darius put on his dark suit. It fitted well to his body making him look more like a typical billionaire businessman. He arranged his hair neatly and put on a black top hat. Now he was more like a vampire, perhaps Dracula. He walked to the mirror to examine himself. He looked so hot as some ladies would say whenever they saw him. His suit was Italian and he wore it on a white shirt and black shoes. He also wore a black tie. When satisfied he left the mirror and walked around. His gaze fell on the lady on the floor.

She laid on the floor not moving any part of her body. He moved closer to her. Her heartbeat was slow but her mind was blanc. He felt tense. He never planned to keep her Alive in fact he had almost drained the blood out of her in his temper but something stopped him. He heard something in her, a tiny heartbeat. It was so slow and low that even a normal vampire might not have heard it. There was life in her, she was pregnant!. He searched through her memories and discovered she was raped before and her parents sent her away from their home and rejected her. It was in her lonely and helpless state that he saw her on the street sitting in the cold. He had thought she was just a helpless fool who was probably lost and well he was hungry. What actually pained him the most was why the parents would abandon her at the time she needed them the most. They felt she was a whore and had somehow seduced the men who later raped her and made her filthy. Somehow she brought out a feeling he thought he had buried a long time ago. Pity!.

She reminded him of himself when he was still a child and human. His parents were greedy bastards who cared about no one but themselves. They willingly sacrificed their children to some evil meniac who promised them immortality and power. They were sacrificed and their throats were split open right in front of their parents eyes. His sister and brother were screaming for mercy but their own parents just watched. They were however brought back to life by some creature whom they later discovered were called watchers. They woke up as bloodsucking beast and the first thing they did was kill their parents. They didn't actually feel any remorse or whatsoever. They had thought the watchers were saviours and good creatures but later found out they also were selfish like their parents and only did that to use and control them as a weapon against the darkers. He grew up in a messed up place. Slowly after the years they lost their humanity. Their sister lust for more power and blood made her go mad. She killed people for sport and caused havoc wherever they went. They created more creatures like themselves over the years and called them sires and made them do all sort of things. When their sister's madness became worst and she caused carnage wherever they went they decided to trap her somewhere so she could be immobilized. She however got to know of their plans and used a vampire hunter to kill her own brothers. She almost succeeded with him if he hadn't escaped but his brother however was unlucky. She succeeded in killing him and absorbing his power and then she became a dark lord.

She became more powerful than ever and was unstoppable. She hunted him for centuries so she could take his power too but he was always the smartest among them all. When she became too much to bear even for the watchers they decided to neutralize her and so gave him a blade. He tricked her and laid an ambush for her and she fell for it. He stabbed her and hence she slumped on the floor lifeless. The watchers took her body and assured him she was dead. He thought that was the end but it wasn't. The watchers had also created other creatures like himself with different sire lines. One of them succeeded in getting to him and killed him or so he thought not until he was awakened centuries ago.

He raised the lady from the floor. She looked terrified and couldn't even look at his face. She shook whenever he touched her. "Look into my eyes," he said softly almost in a whisper. Her eyes shot immediately towards his without blinking. He smiled, vamp lords compulsion tricks were very effective even to other strong or ancient vampires. "I see your pain, you're going to have a child soon." Her face flinched but her gaze was still locked to his. "Don't worry" he assured her, "you won't remember any of this, you'll forget all your pain all your sufferings and misery. I'll give you some money, you'll fly to a peaceful and quiet place and raise your child the best way you can. You'll love that child with all your hearth without having anything to be afraid of. You'll live your years in happiness and harmony with your child."

He then broke the eye contact. She still remained hazed. Everything he said was still sinking in. He walked to the shelf and brought out a bag. He unzipped it and saw hundreds of dollar notes laying there. He took it over and handed it to her. She was already smiling. She put a hand across her tommy and was rubbing it gently. The compulsion must have worked. " I'm the happiest mother on earth" she said aloud. She took the bag from him and did what he least expected. She hugged him tightly." Thank you", she whispered to his ears. He didn't move, he just stood there without hugging her back or anything of the sort. She let go and walked out of the door almost jumping in excitement.

He closed his eyes for some seconds and then opened it. His face had changed back to his mean vampire look from that soft hearted man he was earlier. He walked over and grabbed a file from the table. He needed to go check how his other base were doing. He closed his eyes and pictured his base in New Orleans and shortly after he teleported there. He opened his eyes and saw himself in a room. He recognized it as his private quarters in the building.

His alarm sense suddenly buzzed when he smelled fresh blood. It was vampire blood and from how strong it was he could tell that the blood wasn't coming from one person. He walked towards the door and opened it. He saw blood stained on the walls and splattered all over. There must have been a war here. He tried to sense if anyone was around but found nothing. He walked down a corridor checking all the rooms as he did but all he could find was blood all over. Some bloods were dripping down. Whatever happened here must have been recent not long before his arrival. He entered a room and saw the body of his men all piled in a corner. They were all slaughtered. He felt a lump slump down his throat. His sires were good fighters, whoever did they fought were apparently better than they were or maybe they were outnumbered. He studied the bodies. The slashes and wounds were all fresh. The perpetrators couldn't have gone far he was sure of that.

He stretched his senses farther, scanning through the entire building for any sign whatsoever. He closed his eyes for optimum concentration. He then found something. It was a heartbeat, no, numerous heartbeats. It was coming from the basement of the building. He wondered what they were doing there. He willed himself there and appeared in the basement. He was welcomed by about twenty vampires. They all wore dark mask to conceal their faces and were busy with setting the place ablaze. Vampires detest fire which means they were willing to commit suicide or maybe their goal was to attack his base and then kill themselves by burning the whole place down with them in it. What kind of a lunatic leader do they have?

He cleared his throat loudly to get their attention and they all turned back in surprise. He could tell that the aura coming out of him was strong enough to tell them what he was. They all stared at themselves.

"Who sent you to do this?" He asked glancing at each of them. They remained quiet and gave each other glances. One of them suddenly rushed to attack him. He felt insulted. No vampire ever dares challenge a vamp lord. The sight of him alone was supposed to scare them all but it looks like this ones were way stupid than necessary. He grabbed the vampire by the neck and pulled out his throat. He growled loudly but they still continued attacking.

They rushed towards him at super speeds hoping to attack him from all sides at once. One by one they saw their heads decapitating from their bodies. He still there, it was like he did that without moving. He was way faster than even a regular vampire to grasp.

Darius took a good look on his hands. It was bloody. His senses picked more vampires approaching. He guessed he was wrong. There were more. He turned round and saw a lot of them running at super speed towards him. From his eye view there were more than a fifty of them approaching. He still couldn't believe regular vampires would attack someone like him. It was like an insult to his ego.

He slashed one of them into two with his arms without any eye seeing what happened. He smashed another one into the wall. They kept pouring in to attack him. The helpless fools thought they had a chance. He threw some of them into the raging fire and it was then he saw that they weren't planning to kill themselves. They were burning the bodies of his men. He kept killing them, plucking hearths and head without any of them even seeing his face.

He killed them all and looked and saw one of them still standing. He was holding an iron rod. The fool still went ahead to attack but Darius grabbed him by the throat and slammed him to the nearest wall.

"Look into my eyes!" He roared. The man's eyes locked with Darius's own. Darius gave a wicked smile. " Who sent you?" He asked, "who do you work for?" The man tried to speak but couldn't, he seemed to struggle like there was some invincible force holding his throat. Darius stared deeper into his eyes, " Speak!" He roared. The vampire's pupil dilated. He struggled and then started convulsing. Darius released him as he fell to the floor shacking violently till he became completely still. Darius felt his pulse, he was dead!.

He didn't know what to make of that. In all his life time not once had someone reacted that way to his compulsion trick. He noticed the fire in the house was spreading fast. He grabbed the man's body and teleported it with himself outside. He kept the body on the ground to study it. Maybe he'll find something. He tore off the mask the person put on and examined the face. The vampire looked like someone in his early thirties but then again looks can be deceiving with vampires. He might actually be over a hundred years old.

He peeled open the man's shirt and examined his chest. His eyes spotted a tattoo on his chest. It was a symbol of two dragons clustered together. His eyes widened. There was only one person he knew whose sires were tattoed with that symbol. It represented strength and terror.

He gasped loudly. It couldn't be! Freda couldn't be alive! His sister couldn't be alive! He felt a suddenly felt a new emotion, something he hadn't felt for hundreds of years. Fear!
