A jujutsu sorcerer faces many problems in life. Curses trying to kill you. Clan politics. Difficulty moving up the ranks for clan less sorcerers. Being too poor to afford proper equipment. Being too cowardly to take up any missions. Being too stupid and dying on the battlefield.
Isamu was able to avoid many of these challenges. But one he often encountered was a more mundane one. Illness.
For a grade 1 sorcerer to be so susceptible to common colds may be a humorous sight to many but for Isamu, it was a hard ship he dreaded more than actually going on missions.
Perhaps it was whatever divine force that governed the world evening the score or maybe Isamu just didn't get any of the good genes when it came to his immune system, whatever the case may be, it was a fact that Isamu got sick often.
Not often enough to call it a condition like "primary immune deficiency" or something similar, but often enough for people to expect it. Such was the case for Maki.
Like clockwork, Isamu got sick around the first of every month. And like clockwork, Maki felt obligated to take care of him.
Due to her heavenly restriction making her practically immune to all common illnesses, she didn't fear catching anything. So, when Isamu felt lonely and isolated during the few days he was sick during this period, it was Maki's self assigned duty to keep him company.
——
"Isamu's sick again? Seriously? I didn't even know it was possible to get sick that much and still be alive." Nobara asked as she scooped some rice onto her plate. She was currently loading up her meal in the jujutsu high cafeteria.
To her left, Maki filled a bowl with some soup. Chicken noodle soup to be exact. It was Isamu's favorite food when under the weather. It helped him sleep.
"Yeah." Maki said, clearly a bit annoyed but oddly patient. Considering how cold blooded and ruthless Maki was when training her, Nobara figured there'd be steam coming out of her ears from such an annoying and repeating problem such as that.
"How do you put up with that? Practically being a maid for him for a few days every month?" Nobara asked as she reached for some orange chicken with a pair of tongs. "You might want to invest in a maid costume at this rate." She continued with a snicker.
"The pros out way the cons if you know what I mean." Maki said with a wink, completely ignoring her costume suggestion, and a slight smile before walking off towards the dorms.
"I don't think I want to get what you mean!" Nobara yelled back at her escaping form, a bit red in the cheeks.
——
Isamu heard a knocking emanate from his bedroom door. He knew who it was and normally, his stomach would be filled with butterflies. No matter how long he'd been in a relationship with her, Maki always seemed to extract the reaction from him.
She always made him gitty in a way. Like she was his crush and not his girlfriend. As a result, every time Maki affirmed her love for him, it felt 10 times better than it probably would have otherwise.
But he didn't feel such an emotion now, he was too busy being miserable. His head pounded, his eyes hurt, his stomach ached, his nose was stuffed, and overall, he just felt shity.
Maki opened the door, knowing not to expect a response from a mute. She traversed the dark room with ease, nearing his bed in no time.
"I brought your favorite." Maki said, her voice soft so as to not cause him more pain with his headache and all. She sat on the edge of Isamu's bed as he tilted his head to the right to look up at her.
Maki placed the bowl on the nightstand next to the bed before crawling towards his head.
"Move." She said, her tone still soft but somehow commanding at the same time. Isamu wanted to make some kind of sassy remark about taking it easy on a dying man, but he honestly didn't have the energy to raise his arms.
So he settled for a "you serious?" look. At his stare, Maki just rolled her eyes, a small smile growing on her lips.
"Fine, I'll help you. It's nothing new." Maki relented before grabbing Isamu and slowly sliding him down the bed. Once he was in a better position, Maki moved his pillow aside and kneeled right where it had been, sitting back on her calfs.
Maki then grabbed both sides of Isamu's head and pulled him up to rest on her lap. This was probably Isamu favorite thing Maki did for him, at least top 3. And that kind of list was extensive so it was really saying something. Feeling her creaming and soft thighs on his cheek as he rested his eyes felt like heaven.
Grabbing the bowl and spoon with ease, Maki began to feed him.
"You're really lucky you have me." Maki stated as she carefully pushed the spoon into his mouth. Maki saying things Isamu already knew.
"And that I'm so kind to you." She continued while pulling the spoon out his mouth before going in to get another spoon full from the bowl.
This continued for a while, Maki silently feeding Isamu and Isamu enjoying the attention and food. After about 10 minutes of silence, Isamu had finished the bowl.
"There. All done. Now, you have a choice to make. Do you want me to leave and you can be all alone to suffer in peace. Or do you want me to lay down next to you and cuddle you to sleep?" Maki asked like it was a serious question Isamu had to actually consider.
These bonus chapters will just be things that don’t have much to do with the plot, just little, cannon, side stories. I’ll either throw these out on like a Thursday or Friday or I’ll publish one of these on a Monday if I still want a day or two to get the actual chapter for that week done.
