The Immortal (twilight fanfiction)

"An everyday man gets thrown into the world of twilight thousands of years before the start of the plot. With immortality and incredible abilities. How will this man's presence change the outcome of the original story?" [ this is a slow-burn fanfiction; the MC is just trying to experience life and enjoy it, not to take over the world and rule from the shadows.] I do not own twilight or the characters of the twilight world, all that belongs to me are my own characters.

Finding a mate. (update)

Year-476

Sitting in my comfy chair by the fire, I relaxed as I felt the heat wash over me.

At the moment, I was alone in my small home.

I sent Julius to Rome, to protect our bank that was in Rome from being plundered.

Because at the moment Rome had collapsed and I needed him there to make connections with the powers there to keep the bank safe and still in use.

I knew it was going to happen but I didn't want to change history to a point that it would change the 21st century to a point of it being unrecognizable.

That's why I never went to see Jesus.

I knew if I had been there I would have stopped him from being crucified.

Let's just say he would have never been betrayed.

that change alone would have been drastic and could have done more bad than good.

Rome did it to themselves when Rome was constantly bringing back slaves, it did nothing but hurt the lower-class citizens, and keep them from making money.

And making them mostly reliant on slaves

Causing the lower-class citizens to riot in the streets.

That along with the insane amounts of corruption in the senate and crime in Rome only helped with its inevitable fall.

Getting bored of just sitting in my home all day, I decided to go on a small trip to the west coast to a place I knew had some great views and fishing spots.

So, packing up my horse, I headed west.

It's honestly amazing to see all the changes that have happened in the last 150 years.

Londinium has gone from a small fort city to a large city.

Of course, it wasn't even close to what it will become but it has grown in leaps and bounds.

Thankfully my home was a few miles from the city, giving me a few decades before they started to encroach.

Going down a well-used path I lost myself in a Joe Rogan podcast I had heard more than a thousand times.

Something they should have built into my Spotify was a connection with my old world so I could get some new stuff.

As I walked down the road I watched the trees sway and the birds fly from tree to tree.

As Joe Rogan and Elon Musk light up a doobie.

At midday, I stop for lunch, consisting of dried meat and a few vegetables.

Packing my belongings I hit the road again.

It took me another few days to reach my destination and make camp.

Sitting by my fire I watch the flames flicker and change, the wind cascading the glowing embers high above me.

It was around 10 o'clock and I was just sitting down under some of my blankets, the fire slowly losing its glow, when something stopped me dead in my tracks.

Up above me hundreds of white lines streaked across the night sky.

Slowly sitting back up, I Watched as the mediators flew across the sky.

"incredible," I said softly to myself.

Over the years I had always been drawn to the simpler things in this new life I call mine.

Like when I first came here I would do just what I am doing now.

Look up at the night sky by my fire and watch as the stars would twinkle and occasionally see a shooting star.

Even when I had my villa and more money than the emperors or kings of this world.

I would come outside, in the dead of night and just watch the night sky.

And a sense of being so small would wash over me as I watched.

That even with this whole new life I was still just a small speck of dust on a speck of dust on a masterpiece covered with specks of dust, in a dusty attic.

A small smile spread across my face as the last of the shooting stars passed by.

"I might just be a small speck of dust, but who cares, I'm going to continue living this new life to the fullest," I thought as I laid back down, and continued to watch the dazzling stars above.

That night I found the part of me that seemed to be gone.

The part of me that had meaning and a purpose, that I seemed to have lost at some point along my long unending walk down life's path.

For so long I just seemed to drift from one place to another.

I tell myself it's "for the adventure" but in reality, it was to just pass the time.

Of course, I did enjoy the adventure.

But you can only do so for so long before it's more out of habit rather than for the fun of it.

Slowly I closed my eyes and wondered what another day would bring.

Year-647

"would you stop that" I say, not looking away from the old scroll I was currently reading.

"sigh," I heard from Julius.

Dropping the scroll to my lap I look over to Julius, who was also reading a scroll in his recliner.

"Are you reading one of those sad plays again?" I say, pointing an accusing finger at Julius.

"What did I tell you about those, every time you read a new sad play your mister 'sad guy' for the next year. so if that's what it is I'm gonna.."

"It's not a play Adam," Julius says looking over at me.

"then what is it?" I say bringing my scroll back up to continue reading.

"It's just…how do you do it."

I look over at him.

"do what" I ask.

"how are you okay with being alone for so long" he asked me as he started to stand.

I raise an eyebrow at the question.

"uhm…are you okay Julius."

I say dropping my scroll back down.

"I mean has the time finally caught up with you, have you finally gone crazy."

Julius looks over at me.

"what" he asked.

"you know you just asked how I'm okay with being alone for so long but you are clearly standing there in the same room as me, so I'm not alone."

Julius looks at me like I am an idiot.

"That's not what I meant, Adam. I mean a partner."

"oh, well 'cough' Firstly you should word your questions better, and second it's none of your business," I say looking away from him.

"is it because you like men" Julius asked bluntly.

"WHAT, you think, that I,"

"Adam it's fine if you do, but I'm just telling you now, I'm not that kind of guy…so."

"would you shut up," I yell.

"I don't find men to be attractive." I snap.

He raised his hands in surrender.

In an attempt to change the subject, I ask.

"what made you ask?"

"Julius started to avoid my eyes and play with a small piece of cole in his hands.

"for the past few decades, I have been craving for someone…more."

"someone to fall in love with, someone who will be there in my darkest days," he said, his voice getting louder with every word.

"woh slow down there before you start going through that whole acting faze again."

I said standing from my chair.

"so you want a mate," I say as I wrap my scroll back up and put it on a side table.

"a what" he asked confused.

Clapping my hands together I say in my teacher's voice.

"buckle up kid you are in for a wild ride."

"What does a buckle have to do with this and what do you mean a wild ride," Julius asked, more confused than ever.

"well the wild and uncaring world of love, of course"
