Chapter 34: The Vampire City (2)

It has been a few days since Nehora was locked up in the dirty cell. Yvetta did mention it would be her last meal she would have during their previous meeting. However, it seems they were planning to keep her alive for some time.

During her stay in the dungeon, a guard would come to give her a meal, once a day. It can't be considered a meal since it was just a piece of dry bread and tasteless vegetable soup.

Nehora was angry at this treatment, but she couldn't complain since this is her only meal. Her cell partner which was the rogue werewolf from previously was taken by three guards. They used a leach to capture him and it was no easy task. The rogue became aggressive and tried to attack him, but they used a staff made out pure silver to restrain it.

It howled in pain as the staff burnt through its flesh. It was sad sight to see, but it seems the guards took pleasure doing this. They laughed like maniacs like doing so.

After being taken by the guards, the rogue never returned, probably dead and the cell remained empty. Nehora knew it would soon be her turn to go as well soon. On the positive side, she will occasionally talk to Hestia to lessen her boredon at times.

Back to the present, Nehora sat in her cell wearing ragged clothes and trailing her finger on the floor out of boredom. She heard the metal door creak open to the dungeon. Footsteps of heavy boots were heard.

The guard finally reached her cell and held a bucket full of water. He placed the bucket down. "Hey, you! Get up! It is time to go." The guard uttered rudely.

Nehora stopped what she was doing and glared at the guard with her fire-like, cold and emotionless eyes. The guard got angry by how she was looking at him. 'How dare she look at me like me like that? This dog!' He thought.

"Can't you hear what l'm saying, you stupid dog! Get up now!" he shouted but Nehora still didn't follow his instructions and this further angered him. He began to frantically unlock her cell with the key.

Once he opened the cell door, he walked up to her and roughly grabbed her arm and lifted her up. He then took out a baton made out of pure silver and used it to hit Nehora.

She cried in pain once it contacted her flesh and fell on the cold concrete floor. The guard breathed out in anger and kicked her hard on the stomach. Nehora's eyes widen as she held her stomach in pain. The guard breathed out in satisfaction as he went to get the bucket near the entrance to her cell.

'Nehora, are you okay?' Hestia inquired worryingly.

'Yes, I'm fine...' Nehora responded in a weak voice.

He placed the bucket roughly near her, "Now clean up! We can't go if you are filthy like this."

'As if l wanted to be dirty.' Nehora thought as she painfully got up. She had a burnt wound because of him. There was a cloth in the bucket.

Nehora then stared at the guard, "Can't l have a little bit of privacy?"

The guard scoffed before going out of her cell and locking it. "I'll be back after 10 minutes and you better be done. If not, you won't have your privacy anymore..." he said while licking his lips. It disgusted Nehora to the core.

Once he went away, Nehora hurriedly unclothed herself and cleaned herself using the cloth. She scrubbed her body and washed her dirty silver hair. Once done, she tore her piece of shirt to cover the wound.

She wore her clothes and the guard came. He seemed a little disappointed. "You will get some clothes soon. Follow me without trouble." He uttered as he unlocked the cell and Nehora went to the entrance. He then chained her hands.

The guard walked away and Nehora followed suit. She found herself out of the dungeon and walking through the hallway. There were windows and she saw it was evening.

"Hey! Hurry up, we don't have the whole night."

She quickened her pace and the chains cluttered. The guard led her to the locker room, unchained her first and gave her clothes to change into. It was leather black pants and shirt which seems it would cluck her body. The guard went out for her to change and she did just that.

The clothes fitted her well and were comfortable to move in. 'Nehora check for any escape route.' Hestia informed her.

She started to look around the room to see if there was an escape route but none. It was a room without a window or holes. She sighed in disappointment and the guard barged in.

"Let's go!"

The guard once again chained her and dragged her out of the room. They walked and descended down the stairs. The way down the stairs was lit by torches. As they continued to walk, cheers were heard along the way which surprised Nehora.

'Where exactly am l? Why do l hear cheers?' she thought as her eyes narrowed in thought.

The cheers got louder and louder as she walked in the bricked walled corridor until finally she reached the metallic gate.

What she saw through the holes of the gate, were people sitting around the arena in the center. There stood the person that she hated the most in the middle of the arena, Yvetta.

Yvetta held a mic in her palm as she happily waved to the audience, "Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome and l hope you are all excited for another battle!" Yvetta announced with such excitement that earn more cheers from the audience.

"This time it will be different and exciting as the battle this time wouldn't be between two dogs..." Yvetta uttered, peaking people's curiosity.

There was a murmur in the crowd and Nehora's eyes narrowed as she thought about the worst that is to come.

"Ooh, exciting~"

"Did they bring a new variant?"

"I hope this is entertaining."

People spoke and inquired one another in the crowd. "l won't keep you waiting. Now give it up for Marcella!"

People cheered and the gate creaked open, swinging upwards. The guard unchained Nehora and pushed her on the arena. She lost her balance and fell on the dusty ground. Nehora groaned in pain and got herself up.

She scanned her surroundings and it looked like this place was like a colosseum, but underground. The above was covered and she couldn't see the sky. The place was lit by torches.

There were vampires all over obviously and as well as humans...but they looked mindless. Their eyes looked empty and lifeless.

Humans were kept as their cattle to feed on. Where the vampires sat, they would feed on them as their fangs suck into their necks while the humans sat on their laps like dolls. Most of the humans were women that barely wore anything.

Vampire cities would lure humans by making it seem like any other city where they would reside, but in the end they will meet their terrible fate, being mindless cattle. Even worse, humans would be forced to breed like animals to meet their demand.

In the colosseum, there were mostly noble vampires who seeked for entertainment in their boring long life. Once they saw Nehora now known as Marcella, there was murmur and mocking laughter among the audience.

"Wouldn't this little girl die in a second?"

"It will be fun to see her flesh be ripped apart~"

As the vampires continued to talk among themselves, Yvetta interrupted them. "Surprised~ Well, you should be. As this little girl will fight to the death with one of the beasts that stand there in locked in that metallic gate, hungry for a fight!"

From a far distance, there stood an aggressive rogue clawing the gate that acted as a barrier. It was blacked furred with red eyes that filled with bloodlust.

"There are weapons that Marcella can use to defend herself in this battle. This battle will determine if she lives or die..."

"Now, let the battle begin!" Yvetta finally said as the gate opened for the rogue.

Yvetta leaped high to a safe location and left Nehora alone in the arena with the beast.
