Battling an Abomination (2)

While the Abomination walked in the direction of Clover, the latter likewise came into the former. He knew that the Abomination coming toward him because of the traits it was leaving on to its surroundings.

"I should quickly meet him before his very existence continues harming the beauty of nature. I don't want it if someone dares to harm a beautiful painting just because of his very existence. I should eradicate immediately him!" His eyes were blazing with fire, with a hint of fierce mixed within. It pains him that the jungle he loves the most; continued to decay and was devoid of life.

Thankfully, the Abomination never affected the river, and he was afraid that if the former dared venture into that area, then his source of water may be contaminated, and that would cause him to find another water to clench his thirst.

His step fasten and his stretch lengthen, it was almost like he was jogging. He checked towards his weapon: resting on his left shoulder—tied with green leaves who seems much sturdy than the regular belt.

"Five flying knives and one broken dagger. It seems I can only battle with range, and this is also a good thing. Since I'm afraid I can't get close to that living natural disaster." With the Abomination in his sight, he jump to a branch of the tree and waited for the Abomination to close the distance between both of him, as he was assessing it.

"System, Appraisal!" He muttered as he open his right eye wide, expecting that something amazing would happen.

[…]

What greeted him was silence. He forgot that there's no such a feature like it. He remembered a famous comic regarding appraisal when they have a cheat-like system at their disposal, and he was expecting the God's Record to at least have that particular feature and it seems he was wrong, he should have expected it when it didn't even give him a storage function.

Dismissing the negative thoughts unto his mind, he observes the abomination half a hundred meters away from him.

"A bald body, a bulging eye from his socket, a missing nose, yet no blood coming out from it. Aside from his missing left limb, his right hand is gripping a rapier weapon," Clover conveyed, as his gaze stopped at the weapon for a second.

As if sensing his scrutinizing gaze, the weapon's point moved and pointed itself towards Clover. The Abomination's head also moved—in sync with the weapon and look towards Clover with an eye swinging outside.

"That weapon…" Clover, while speaking, suddenly turned speechless. He could feel the uniqueness of the weapon as if it has its own sentience. A moment after, he suddenly laughed out loud, and wipe the tears crawling out of his eyelids.

"HAHAHA, you system sure like to twist facts. It is indeed true that I will receive a half-spirit rank weapon after killing the Abomination. But! That is the spoil of the battle! And you will not be the one rewarding it!" Clover was fuming in anger. One second, he was laughing and after not even three seconds yet, he was beyond angry to the point he was gasping for air.

The God's Record was clearly unreasonable. Indeed, it was logical that he would be gifted with a half-spirit rank weapon, but she would not be the one who would be rewarding him! It was a spoil of the battle if he won! To think he let his imagination wild, and maybe he could extort God's Record by some reward!

[Host, a reward is a reward. I never pointed out that I will be the one to reward you if you completed the mission. It is the mission itself that will reward you. In short, for every mission, there's a reward, and every reward is created for the mission.]

Clover was speechless, he could not finds words to retort with. The system's reason was logical, which was hard to argue with.

He was about to talk about God's Record once more. When the man exuding a gloomy atmosphere suddenly turned blurred and disappeared, together with his weapon. Being experienced with a sneak attack, Clover's expression turned serious and he didn't need to move his eyes before tilting his head sideways.

A long, slim, double-edged sword passes from the previous position of his head.

"How fast!" Clover exclaimed, as his eyes turned wide.

Although it was seen that he dodge it completely, a slight narrow small tear appeared on his cheek. Although the skin was completely shredded off and supposed blood came out, yet as if the blood had dried like someone just sucked it.

When his eyes landed on the weapon, he noticed that the crimson-colored body of the rapier previously turned into a bright scarlet, as if fresh blood has just been painted on it. For some reason, Clover could hear a tongue licking on its lips, as if afraid that even a peck of a delicious meal would be wasted on its lips.

"Not good!" Sensing another danger, he jumped back like a rabbit with a sprint onto his legs.

Swoosh!

The edge of the rapier rushed towards his previous position! It was so sudden that even a naked eye failed to see what transpired, and they could only see a weapon blinking to change to another position. When he sensed that an enemy was no longer in his perception, the abomination felt lost before he was forced to move aggressively by the weapon. It was so awkward that he even failed to take a step normally, and his body parts were not in sync.

Bang!

Due to the force of his legs brought when he jumps, Clover couldn't control the inertia, which caused him to land aggressively on a tree. The tree couldn't completely absorb the force which Clover transmitted, and thus the tree plummeted to the other side.

Bang!

Another bang occurred, while Clover crouched with his back to the tree - who falls to the other side—wiping the blood coming out of his mouth. He watched as the Abomination walked toward him like a child getting his first time to take a step.

"It's not the Abomination itself I should be wary of! It should be the weapon! And with them not in sync totally, I can take advantage of this!"

Hope was not lost yet, and even though his body was contaminated due to the physical contact with the Abomination, he still have five minutes to deal with the Abomination before thinking of solving it.

He felt like something inside him trying to awaken. His every cell was slowly consumed like cancer trying to spread its disease. He wanted to shout, yet afraid that it would be the beginning of a rapid infection, and he even thought that he would become a zombie any second.

"A brain couldn't move without its body," he murmured as he made a decision.

Taking out his dagger, he threw them towards the Abomination's head. With a swoosh, the black dagger halfway penetrated and broke completely, spreading its sharp fragment to its brain.

The Abomination stopped moving, except for its right limb, which was influenced by the weapon wiggling excitedly. Clover was about to smirk and thought that he should deal with the weapon now that its body was gone when it squirmed suddenly.

Its right leg took a step and continued moving towards him awkwardly. The weapon didn't notice what happened and continued giving signals for the Abomination to move quickly and let him drink the blood from the unique man before them.
