Chapter 69: Consequences

The Lightning Sage looked at Alex with contempt. He had checked and done an investigation, and saw that there was perfect evidence of the Sword Mountain Sect being a secret Demonic Sect. 

But that was also suspicious, the evidence was too perfect, almost like someone planted it.

If the case went to the Supreme Judges, then no such thing as the evidence being too perfect existed. Plus no one would dare offend Camilla by killing Alex, but once he was dead and had no value. Camilla wouldn't fight for him anymore, after all, even she only worked on the value of interests. 

The Vampire Queen didn't suddenly decide to help Alex out of kindness. So there was something special about him. That was the conclusion that the Lightning Sage could come up to. 

He knew how people like Camilla worked and how they saw things. They were logical to a terrifying level.

So in the end, he had to kill Alex right here. He can't allow the case to go to the country's judges. 

"Heh, brat… you were trying to buy time," said Lightning Sage, his eyes full of malice. "I commend you for being able to trick me. Even the story you gave was likely fake."

"Hmm~ that feels like slander to me. I would rather take you to court. Even the Emperor can be the judge this time," said Alex but in his mind, his thoughts were opposite of his words.

'People normally would think that the Emperor would be fair. But he won't, even he doesn't have the balls to offend Camilla. She is a crazy bitch. Even with my future knowledge, I wouldn't like messing around with her. Especially since she will probably break through the Legendary Rank soon and go beyond it.' – thought Alex.

From what he remembered originally Camilla would have surpassed Legendary Rank fifty years from now. But due to his actions, Alex predicted that the vampire would reach that stage in ten years. Maybe even seven due to just how good Camilla was. He would never underestimate someone like her. 

"Taking you to the Emperor would just waste his time." The Lightning Sage insisted.

Alex on the other hand looked at him with a suspicious face. "If you want to kill me, then just say so. No need to try and make excuses for the people around us. A lion doesn't concern himself with the opinion of the sheep."

At that moment, Lightning Sage frowned. Unlike before where Alex used all kinds of excuses, he seemed more sure of himself now and was full of confidence.

With that in mind, the Lightning Sage didn't attack. Alex was too cunning and it seemed like he was inviting him to attack, which made the old man nervous. Something felt wrong in the air. It felt unnatural...

"Your traps won't work on me. Just wait till the Seers come here. They will look into the past of this place and see what happened. The Sword Mountain Sect is part of the Wayne Kingdom, and righteous. You will be hunted down like the dog that you are." Said the Lightning Sage, not mincing his words at all. 

Alex still seemed unfazed. That was when suddenly a giant dark line opened up in the sky, like the closed pupil of an eye. Instantly all of the dark clouds above dissipate and the dark line opened up to reveal a single dark red eye.

"I think that can't happen." A childish voice came all around them. 

Fwish!

In an instant the Lightning Sage went to attack Alex, now seeing what he had been up to. But in that instant, dark tree roots came out of the ground and formed a cocoon around Alex.

Baaam!

The Lightning Sage's hit didn't even leave a scratch. This made the old man wince, knowing that he can't kill Alex anymore. A dark mist formed at the top of the dark cocoon and a young childish pale figure with a red dress and her blond hair tied up in twin tails. Camilla had personally come here, and the smirk on her face said all that needed to be said.

"Hello, there~ sparky. When was the last time I saw you? A couple of decades ago? You have grown to be ugly as hell. Look at all that wrinkly skin and gross patches. Sheesh, you should become a vampire. That will help you in your lonely life."

The Lightning Sage clenched his teeth in anger. "Camilla…"

"Oh~ you called me by my name? Old man, people of our ages shouldn't be with each other. Have you seen my loli body? It's illegal to even look my way." She said some references that the others didn't understand, but the amusement on her face was as clear as the sky… she is mocking the old man. "By the way, how is your daughter doing? Yin Yin was always such a sweet child."

The Lightning Sage couldn't handle it anymore and attacked without remorse. A dragon's head formed on his fist as he punched at Camilla.

BOOOOOOM!!!

A giant lightning serpent-like dragon came out that obliterated everything in its way. 

"You killed my daughter Camilla!! I swore that day that I would kill you!!" Said the Lightning Sage, a memory of his daughter begging for her life came to his mind. A hologram that Camilla had sent him as his daughter was sent to a brothel and forcefully… and Camilla had sent him a hologram of the thing.

Back then the Lightning Sage had been young and drunk on power. He couldn't even imagine someone being able to touch him, he had reached the peak of Legendary Rank and even the Emperor wouldn't dare dismiss the Lightning Sage's words. He had been proud and joyful that he had reached this far. Due to a fortuitous encounter in his youth, this had all been made possible.

But also because of that strength and confidence, he had gone and destroyed a Sect that had been under Camilla's protection at the time and the leader was a vampire. It was supposed to have been a declaration of power and to tell the world that the Lightning Sage was here and he would leave a mark in history.

But unlike he had expected, there had been no retaliation against his person. Only a week later his daughter went missing, she had been missing for a long time but only then was the clone noticed. The clone had a hologram crystal inside of it with the video of Yin Yin being brutally violated for days straight till she had died of starvation and dehydration. 

At the end of it, the Lightning Sage had wanted to storm the Shadow Lands where Camilla lived. But for the first time in his life, the man had been stopped and thought of the consequences. At the time he still had another daughter and a wife… so with that rage in his heart. He had to step down and not dare retaliate, or the rest of his family… he didn't even want to think about what Camilla would have done to them.

Like a dog with its tail between his legs, the man who had thought himself unbeatable under the heavens, had turned around in fear.

Since that day, it showed that Camilla and Julie were on a whole different playing field from the rest. A family could be one's motivation to get stronger… but it also becomes an absolute weakness.

Still though, now the Lighting Sage had Camilla right in front of him. He could see her, he could kill her with his own hands and get revenge.

A/N: I never understood in wuxia novels why the villains don't go after the MC's family. So you can't catch him? So what? His family is easily killable and taken hostage. 

For all their speeches about how they will torture the MC and all that, they never deliver even after the MC kills their sons and even eliminates their families. 

So the Lightning Sage is fast, and even if she wanted, Camilla can't catch him due to his speed and power. His family on the other hand? Easily available. This is a realistic way of how cruel people deal with opponents. Be cruel but doesn't kill children or use other methods of torture? Then, are they really cruel? 

P.S: Yeah, Camilla might have a gentle demeanor towards Alex, but she is a brutal woman who has survived for thousands of years. She didn't last this long by being nice and letting others step on her toes.
