Chapter 70: A Feast of Deer

At the same time, Alex who was inside the dark cocoon smirked. He could sense what was going on outside, and wondered if this would spark a war between the Wayne Kingdom and Camilla? With the latter already fighting against the Holy Kingdom, then fighting against another Kingdom would ruin her chances of victory. Especially since the Holy Kingdom has the support of quite some Gods who can send their avatars for support.

What Camilla had as an advantage was the number of undying vampires, any army that would contend against her's and they would lose. A battlefield was a place of blood, that was the perfect terrain for the likes of Vampires and Blood Mages. They could be unbeatable there since neither their Mana nor their stamina would ever run out due to the blood in the vicinity.

The Vampires could heal hellishly fast too, especially those of the Legendary Rank who were generally considered unkillable by physical means. Their regeneration was monstrous. Having Blood around only helped them.

Alex then laid down on the ground and bit his finger, drawing blood and drawing a rune in his hand. "Tch, this is gonna suck."

On the other hand, outside of the cocoon, Camilla's head was half gone and half of her brain spilled on the ground. Her body twitched as she got up from the ground.

"Hahahaha, that hurts you bastard," she said, a sense of madness hidden in her.

The Lightning Sage's body shook, he had to stop himself and could only watch as Camilla's brain regenerated back and everything went back into place. As if time went backward and the blood flows back into place.

"What? You aren't going to attack me?" Her smirk widened into a malicious one. "Don't worry, I won't take your other daughter. At least this one is older and it wouldn't be her first time when well… you know…"

The Lightning Sage's head feels like it's blasting off, and his dead daughter's screams resound in his head. Looking at Camilla's smirk, showing that she wasn't remorseful even about what she had done.

Fwish!

In an instant, he moved in front of the vampire with the appearance of a young girl. Camilla's gold-like blonde hair floated around. Her smirk never fled away for even a second as lightning-fast fists plummet her body, crushing her ribs, rapturing her organs, and obliterating her limbs.

"Hahahahaha~" her laugh resounded through the mountain. Making everyone get chills down their spines.

Even Alex inside the dark cocoon felt uncomfortable.

'Tch, something feels wrong. What is Camilla planning?' Alex didn't want the vampire leader to get any strange ideas. He knew that she could be even as dangerous as Headmistress Julie, maybe even more so since Camilla wasn't always logical.

She could get caught in the moment and kill him for some reason… that might not even be a reason at all. Not like she needed an excuse to kill someone. That was also the main thing that made someone like her unpredictable.

Who knew what she would do next, at least Alex had known that the Headmistress Julie would act logically and look after her own interests. He had been sure that Julie wouldn't kill him unless she wrung out all she could from him, but Camilla was different, she was passionate. One wrong move and he would be dead.

Still, this call to Camilla had been a last resort kind of thing and a little bit of a gamble. Because some people were truly unpredictable no matter how much they thought that they knew them.

Alex wasn't arrogant to think that everything could be in his control. This was a genuinely dangerous situation for him, a wild card like Camilla was crazy to think that they could predict.

"Hahahaha~"

Baam! Baam!

Squelch!

Just by hearing the sounds, Alex could tell that she was being ripped apart. The Lightning Sage was no joke, and physical power-wise he was a monster.

Alex then after drawing two strange runes in the palm of his hands he used a spell to make a knife of ice and it dug deep into his hand.

"By the power of my Blood Sacrifice, I summon upon this world. This body of mine shall never grow up to have children, never will it see my hair grow gray, never will it see adulthood. My life shall be short, for the sacrifice of desperation will bring my salvation." After saying those words, dark spots started growing all over Arthur's body. He winced in pain, as it felt like raw lava was running through his veins.

On the sky, as the Lightning Sage and Camilla were fighting, the Vampire's laugh stopped.

Camilla looked at the dark cocoon that she had used to engulf Alex for his protection. Veins popped on her forehead. "Alex!! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!!!"

For the first time, she had a nervous look on her face, and even the Lightning Sage was shocked by her reaction.

BOOOOOM!!

Suddenly malicious energy busted out and Camilla immediately turned into a mist of blood and traveled far in the sky. The Lightning Sage on the other hand wasn't that fortunate and didn't sense anything wrong. His instincts didn't react to anything.

*COUGH!!*

Until a huge glob of blood came out of his mouth, the Lightning Sage fell to his knees and looked at his hands. They were shaking uncontrollably as black spots slowly spread all over them.

"What the hell?! Disease?!" The Lightning Sage is shocked at that.

Alex comes out of the cocoon too, and his body was shrouded in dark marks. Blood coming out of his orifices on his face.

"This hurts…" that was all he said to express his pain. Even though no other thing seemed to show how he felt. "If only I was stronger, I wouldn't have to suffer such desperate manners."

The wind howled. It felt like something very bad had just been opened in this world.

"Alex… what happened?" Asked Camilla, now calmer. But that cautious look was still in her eyes and she looked at him with something that she hadn't ever looked at him with. It was… a sense of murder.

Alex felt like he would die if he said something wrong. If he appeared too weak, he would die. Appear too strong and only death would await again also.

"I opened Pandora's Box," he said, his smirk saying that he knew something they didn't know. "It felt like you were all gonna get your claws on me and rip me apart. I don't want to be ripped apart. Sacrifices along the way are necessary for my freedom. I will do horrible things to other people, but I am not above doing the same to myself."

Then the serious look on his face turned into a smirk as dark blood dripped out of his mouth. "It's about time I showed the world they shouldn't mess with me. Having people come and fight me would be a bad thing. I need to make an example of someone."

Alex looked at the Lightning Sage who was now on the ground coughing out blood. "Your family will have to be killed in the most horrible way possible. Sorry about that, but you were going to kill me anyway. So don't expect any mercy from me."

"Don't say shit like that, kid." Said the Lightning Sage as he forced his body to stand up. "You think I am someone you can just use as your showboat? I will-"

"Yes," answered Alex truthfully. "You never even were anything special to me. Your daughter's horrible death has created a deep hole in your heart. You will never be able to reach either Godhood or Immortality."

Fwish!

The Lightning Sage rushed at him. "You think I will let you kill my child!! Dream on brat!! I will give you a horrible death!!"

Camilla looked at this from above, Alex would die if this hit landed. But she wasn't risking her life for Alex, she could sense the maliciousness around the child. Even though she didn't know what it was, it felt familiar.

Still though, Camilla searched through her memory and the only thing she could come up with was that Alex had been possessed by some unknown creature.

The Lightning Sage's fist was just about to obliterate Alex's head when suddenly bile rose through the old man's throat.

*COUGH!*

He fell on the ground in front of Alex, dark blood seeping out of him.

"Sadly being angry doesn't make you stronger. And fast movements only made the disease spread faster through your body," sighed Alex, looking at the man's dead body coldly. "Again, sorry about this, people suffer all around the world. Adding two more wouldn't be a big thing."

"I wouldn't be so sure about that." Camilla's voice came from above. She looked down at him and narrowed her eyes. Unlike her usually friendly demeanor, she now was showing her true colors. "What did you do?"

It was a simple question, but Alex knew that if he didn't answer he would be making an enemy out of Camilla. He wouldn't mind that outcome, today he can't be killed here by her.

Plus unlike the Lightning Sage, he doesn't have anyone he cared about, so there was no weakness to exploit there.

They both knew that, so Camilla clenched her teeth in annoyance. But then she smiled. "Oh~ is that so? So you want to make an enemy out of me? That would be pretty stupid of you."

Alex only smirked, though he seemed half dead. For some reason a strange confidence exuded from him.
