Chapter 60: Confused

"We are just here to hunt as many beast as we can, get the exact description and location of the king beast here and go back." Timmy said

"I think we know that already." Sam said

"I've seen it." James said aloud

"What did you see??" They chorused

"The snail, it's few kilometers from here." James responded

"Take the t-cam and zoom on it, let's leave after that." Noah said

James proceeded to use the t-cam t to zoom on the beast, trying to take an image of it. While doing that the others rapped up everything they have and prepared to leave, a voice beckoned to them all.

"Guys we gat company." Sam's voice could be heard.

"Are they friendly??"Timmy asked without turning to look

"See for yourself ." He responded

Low growls could be heard accompanied with hissing sounds. Taking a peek, they were surrounded by multiple beasts, ranging from the pupa tier to the mediate tier.

"This should be a walk in the pack." Sam said

"Don't get too cocky, even though they're weak, they make up for it with numbers. " James said

"Hmm, I was actually directing my word to you." Sam responded with an innocent look

"50 in total, I should be able to take them on with my ethereal beasts." James said

He raised his hand in air to draw the attention of the beasts, he then widen his palm and small light shot out of his palm, heading or a pack of beasts. The beasts not sensing anything dangerous from the light stood there, while letting the light hit them.

The lights converged together to form an orb, the orb shook slightly before exuding a blinding light that blocked the view of all the beasts in it's perimeters. When the light calmed down, what replaced it was two snake beasts at the gilberk tier. The snakes began to cause an onslaught the moment they set their gaze on the beasts around.

'Taking out a pack of beasts without being directly involved, that's one of the powers of an artifact coupled with his talent and energy.' Noah thought and clinched his fist hard.

"There are more coming. " Timmy said to the hearing of the others.

"Don't worry, I'll take them on." James said with a smirk. "I've two more stash of that orb" he added

'Creating an ethereal beast of that level takes lots of energy from me at my present stage, it would have left an heavy backlash on my oval if not for this artifact who do most of the work, I would be out of energy sustaining those previous two already, talk more of adding another. I still have to increase my energy and get to the next rank soon.' James head was processing lot's of things as he was observing the beasts coming near.

The ethereal beasts took out the pupa and mediate tier beasts in no time and immediately rushed towards the incoming beasts.

'How I wish I could make them look more alive like the beasts from the tent, that was a gift from the artifact itself, I have to work on that.' He was once again lost in thought when a voice jolted him back to reality.

"Your snakes are having trouble taking out this bunch." Timmy said

James stared and saw what was happening. " Their numbers increased same with their tiers. This isn't something he beasts are doing consciously."

"I thought no one was going to notice that. There should be a stronger and more intelligent beasts in play." Sam said

"Do you think it is those raccoons??" James asked

"Probably, we can't write them out, and we shouldn't forget that there is an hyper tier beast." Sam answered

"Trying to act like you know about them ugh. Beast that can make other beats do it's bidding are beasts at the zulu tier and are highly intelligent beasts. Even though I don't know much about beasts, are you telling me that there is a zulu tier on this planet??" James asked

"Looking at the peripheral and low state of energy on this planet, the chances of there being a zulu tier on this planet is zero, unless a beast hibernates itself for thousands of years which I doubt can be possible with the low energy on this planet." Noah chimed in.

"So are you guys saying the hyper tier can't have an innate trait that is related to mind control??" Sam asked.

"We were told to gather information about it, this is really intriguing " he mused.

"I can see you're crazy to think that even if we go with your idea of the beasts having such innate trait. Why would you find that intriguing??" James countered

"Guys this is not the time to banter, the snakes are getting overwhelmed." Timmy who has been silently watching the battle between the snakes and the other beasts spoke out.

"No, I can't afford to lose them." James said aloud and immediately another orb appeared on his hand, he threw it forward and out of it came another duo beasts at the gilberk tier, they didn't hesitate to rush forward to aid the other two. The wave was quickly cleared, giving them a breathing space.

"I think we should go forward to know what the cause of the beast wave may be." Timmy said

" I think the best option right now is to harvest the mine of beast crystals." James said , his eyes glittering.

"Wait guys, I can sense a stronger aura coming from upfront, I think it's another wave. Larger, if my speculation isn't of." Sam voiced out

They all look forward and could see dust gathering at a far distance, the dust was heading their way.

Coming in close were four raccoons at the gilberk tier, running upfront and leading another wave of beasts ranging from pupa to the four leaders which were only the gilberk tiers in the wave.

"What tier do you think those four would be?? James asked

"Ohh the al knowing and mighty James could stoop so low to ask me that??" Sam said mockingly

"Just talk, don't get too high on yourself." James retorted

"Those beasts upfront are raccoons and judging from their speed and size, they should be at the gilberk tier." Sam said

"Are you sure they aren't advance tier??" Timmy asked

" Yeah, I'm sure, the strongest member of a pack comes later." Sam said with a smile

"Meaning??" Timmy asked

"Judging from the pattern of the wave, the perpetrator is sending the beasts from the weakest for two reasons. Either to get rid of the weaklings in the pack or to gauge the strength of the opponent." Noah explained to the others to which Sam nodded in acknowledgment.

James brought out another orb on his right hand and what looks like a flare-gun on his other hand. He threw the orb forward and same thing happened, he then shoot the flare-gun at the previous ethereal beasts.

"They should be able to fight at full power now, this last set are more stronger than the others. I hope the stand a chance." He murmured to which Timmy answered

"If you think they stand a chance then you're wrong, you will have them killed before you know it." Timmy said as he took a squatting stance before positioning himself like a racer.

"What are you doing??" Sam asked

"Giving them a hand obviously." Timmy said then ran off into the distance.

"Block head, you should conserve your energy for the stronger beasts you know." Sam's voice came from beside him.

"Why did you follow me??" Timmy asked

"We are taking out the weaker beast so they won't tire out James ethereal beast." Sam said

"As much as I want to wipe out that smug look off his face, we still need his ethereal beasts." Sam added

They bypassed the ethereal snakes and leapt into the air so as not to attract the attention of the gilberk tier raccoons. They crashed into the midst of the weaker beasts and begin to cause havoc in their midst. On the other hand, the raccoons clashed against the ethereal snakes and a battle unfolded, one of the raccoon continued forward, totally ignoring everything and heading somewhere else.

"Is that beast heading for me??" James asked himself

'It can't possibly think it could take me out, but why would it head toward me and not him??' his thought were running wild then it clicked.

"Ohh I see, that block head information might be right after all, this dumb beast here sees me as a threat and is trying to take me out, they are really an intelligent and problem solving beast, does it actually thinks taking me out would take the ethereal beast out??'

"I have to do something, without my healing flare-gun, those beast will die." He muttered

He tapped the ring on his finger which lit up a little, a spear appeared on his hand.

"This will do." He muttered

He aimed the spear at the fast approaching beast, he fused his aura into the spear and made it get covered in golden flames, the flames moved to the tip of the spear while burning gently. Timing the speed of the raccoon and the distance between them, he aimed at it's chest area, Throwing the spear with full force, the spear cut through air and impaled the incoming raccoon who was unlucky not to have avoided the attack.

"Haha, my aim wasn't off."

The beasts started backing off suddenly, they all turned tail and headed back to where they came from, including the three gilberk tier raccoons.

" Wow this is really tiring, they sure are a lot." Sam said

"Something's strange." TIMMY Chimed in

"Hmm" Sam hummed

"Why did they suddenly turned tail, something is not right." Timmy said

" I suspected that, let's gather around, we should decide what to do next because I'm having a bad feeling about this" Noah said as they walked toward him.

They decided to go and join James who was busy working on a formation on the floor with crystals at the edges and mumbling strange words.

"Ever since he gained that artifact, he's different. It's as if he can do all things." Sam mumbled

"Yes" James interrupted

The formation lit up, the crystals at edges began to levitate on air and floated over the body of a dead raccoon.

The levitating crystals begin to emit different glows, the body of the beast at the centre emitted a strange glow also, and generated a pulling force that tried to pull everything around it in.

"Does this count??"James mumbled

'Ever since I gained this artifact, it passed on it's knowledge to me, as far as I meet the requirements, I could do unusual things.' He smiled mildly

All the crystals were pulled into what looked like a floating circle over the beast, as the crystals touched the circle, they begin to disintegrate into small particles until the last one which made the circle lit up. The pulling force then went wild as there is nothing else to disintegrate.

"What is this, shouldn't it go into the body after that or are the crystals not enough??" James mumbled

"I am having a foreboding feeling about this." Sam said to the hearing of the duo beside him

'I don't have much I can only give up all the crystals I have and see if it stops.' James head was on rampage as it struggles to find a solution

He brought out crystals after crystals and threw them in the formation which just pulled them in.

"I have five pieces of gilberk tier crystals left, do I have to use it?? I don't know what to do again" he mumbled
