Fifteen years ago, a demon plucked the forbidden fruit and ate it. He is in love with his host, and is willing to abandon his dimension for her. To add insult to injury, he is the one and only, demon king: Orzar His action came at a cause, tearing space and time, creating a gigantic wormhole, connecting our world, to another, to hell. Opening a slaughter field as demons, monsters, spiritual beings. Beings of myth and legend flooded our world. Starting a war between dimensions, millions were dead, and the numbers are still rising. Those occupations that seems like joke and witticism started to become the list line of defense from those beings. Exorcists, priests, taoist hunters stood out, protecting humanity and finally forcing them back to their dimension, temporary. Those who are still left were taught to learn knowledge of such, humanity needed to arm to the teeth to fend off the second invasion, that is happening fast. With Fei being one of them, a what seems like a weakling, but someone with a very complicated and in fact dangerous background...
The bus stopped in front of the few people waiting for it. It is almost midnight, not much people is still up at this point. Miku boarded the bus, Fei followed from behind. She take a seat at the front, leaning close at the window. Fei take a seat beside her quietly. After some time, the bus closed it's door before continue it's journey. This make Fei remember a world his grandma used to tell him, life is like waiting for a bus to arrive at it's final stop, it will always arrive, the time might differ due to some issues, but in the end here it is. Back then young Fei didn't know the meaning behind those words of wisdom. But now he knew it all, that final bus stop is the end of life, or death, it always come no matter what, it is just the matter of time, whether it is early or late. Fei reach for his phone to continue his music, but then he felt a slight tug at the edge of his sleeve.
He turn his head around to find Miku, she opened her mouth and pointed at his ear before at hers. He knew what she meant, she wanted to listen with him too. He pluck out a bud of his earphone and handed to her. She fixed it before returning to her position, leaning at the glass panel of the window, waiting for the music to play.
Now this got Fei really wrecked up. He does a quick scan at his library before deciding to search a new one instead. Now looking back, he really had a questionable taste in music, all his song of choice were either gloomy or filled with suicidal message and intense screaming. Sure, he didn't recognize Miku well, they just met like yesterday, but based on his first impression, she isn't a big fan of such message. "I, I think I remember one…" He inserted a combination of alphabets before pressing down the search number. This is the only jolly song he could remember; grandma always play it during cleaning up the house. It is a very jazzy, old-fashioned song. He remembered the name, but not the tone nor the lyrics. It had been his first time playing it again, ever since she passed away…
"Oh, baby, give me one more chance
To show you that I love you.
Won't you please let me back in your heart?
Oh, darlin', I was blind to let you go,
(Let you go, baby.)
But now, since I see you in his arms,
I want you back."
It was after half of minute of listening to Jackson 5's "I Want You Back" that Fei realised this is a romance song. He immediately pull his earphone bud out frantically before taking a quick glimpse at Miku. She must've hated his old school out of date taste, even throwing a tantrum with her attitude. Tomorrow at school she will expose his grossness in front of the rest, he will drop down to the bottom once more, and become nothing except a flea…
Huh?
Miku swayed her head softly, closing her eyes as she enjoyed the music. Seeing this, Fei let out a breath of relief. He took his earbud back and place it once again, enjoying it with her. This music really hit hard for him. He recalled his past with grandma, those good, simple days at the countryside. It was after she left that his hellish life begin. He never saw grandpa though. His memories of him is a muscular, manly figure. Grandma also always told him that grandpa is out there saving the world. Thinking back, it is just some child's tale to fill his love thirsting, pathetic empty soul. It is alright, he had already get used to his miserable fate. Sometime he think if he was possessed by some sort of demon, bringing death and bad luck to everyone beside him…
Miku take a quick look at Fei, he seems fine, great thing he didn't question about his music choice. He is always uncertain and unconfident, just like back then, always timid and a coward. It is funny how far he'd grown over the years. Back then she is at least two inches taller than her, or maybe two. But now, he is almost half a meter taller, his natural attitude didn't change much though, still a scaredy cat. Their reunion is supposed to be a lovely one, if he still remember their promises. But now it seems he'd forget it all, throwing it at the back of his mind. Maybe to him it is all just child's play, just some jokes, but for the past ten years she treated that promise seriously. The lyrics filled her mind, depicting her feeling exactly right now.
I want you back, Fei…
"Thank you for today." The duo exited the vehicle once it arrived at the stop just in front of the Academy. "I am your lackey, remember?" Fei joked out, Miku sneered, hitting his shoulder. "Someone is calling you." Fei pointed at the middle-aged man, waving at them, beside him is a glorious dark night, a limo darker than ink, reflecting the moonlight. "That is my uncle." She explained. "He owns a limo company."
"Oh, right." Fei actually believed it. "Go ahead then, I will get back to my dorm too." The dorms are only for students with scholarships, those who are too far away from home. Home… Thinking back Fei really didn't had a home, all he had is just a house. "Goodnight." She bided before running towards the limo. "Oh, goodnight." He stood there and waving his hand gently.
"Who is that kid." Miku's loyal butler, Patrick, laughed seeing her pressing her face onto the window behind, staring at him as they drove off. "He is Fei." She answered, sitting back to her seat. "Fei? I remember him." The butler chuckled, the image of a timid boy and a fearless girl is still fresh in his mind. "Did he still kept his promise, are you two… A couple?" Patrick lean his head closer towards Miku and teased. "No! Way!" She pushed him away, only in front of her butler that she dare to spill out her true feelings. "He forget all of it, somehow…" She couldn't cover the disappointment in her voice. "How long had it been, ten years, right?" Thinking back of the memories, it is still fresh like yesterday. "Ever since that incident, he moved out and we've never seem him."
"You got me covered, right?" Miku asked, worried that her action will be exposed. Her family would skin her alive if they dare know she sneak out just to be a weird stalker "Yeah, I told them that you are heading towards the library for revision." Her butler gave him a "OK" sign, telling her everything is alright. "Phew." Miku let out a deep sign before turning back, checking whether Fei had left. Sure enough, Fei is still standing there, it was after the limo completely disappear in his sight, then he walk away.
