Minotaur Ambush (1)

As I got closer to the scene, the roars of the minotaur became more violent and fiercer. The sight of the minotaur screaming and attacking mindlessly was frightening. Contrary to this, the solidarity within the demigods was captivating. Every one of them was fueled by the desire to protect the only place they all could call home.

However, I didn't feel any of that. I was still a stranger to this world, let alone this camp. To be honest, I was always a stranger, even in my past world. But that was who I was in the end. I couldn't bring myself to belong somewhere or someone after that night.

As the shrapnel of rock shot in every direction due to the minotaur smashing everywhere uncontrollably, I hid behind a stone and began observing the battlefield. Soon my eyes were drawn to a boy and a girl.

'They are here...'

The boy was the main character of "Rise of The Son of Zeus", by Adriel Quill. He had bright white hair and sky-blue eyes. He was the same height as me and had a very robust body, demonstrating his defined muscles as his t-shirt was torn apart by the minotaur. His face was chiseled and his skin was as white and soft as the clouds up in the sky.

'Having the genetics of Zeus himself must be crazy...'

Though since everyone here carried one of the gods' blood in them, they all looked quite pleasant. But the genetics of the Big Three were still different than the rest of the gods.

Unlike him, who didn't show any sign of fear in his eyes, the girl who was next to him and clinging onto him out of fear was Amelia Elway, the female lead. She had grey hair that cascaded onto her back and black eyes which contrasted to her snow-white skin. She was around 170cm with a petite but fit figure. Her face was pure. She was the perfect portrait of innocence, something that should be protected at all costs.

She was the daughter of Athena, mostly known as the goddess of wisdom. Although the blood of the Big Three didn't flow through her veins, her beauty was on par with Eleanor.

My eyes drifted from the two to the minotaur, whose movements and attacks were getting slower and clumsier. It couldn't possibly deal with tens of demigods all at once. As more wounds appeared across its body, the minotaur was slowly dying.

However, what the demigods didn't know was that this minotaur had a hidden rage mode that automatically activated when it was near death. Normally, a single minotaur wouldn't pose any a threat to the camp but currently, the stronger demigods were all out on a mission or somewhere else, meaning the defense of the camp was severely lacking and couldn't really overcome a minotaur with rage mode on without having a few casualties.

Of course, this unexpected situation will be suppressed by Adriel. But the death of one demigod won't be avoided.

As I glanced at the minotaur, I noticed it was on the brink of entering rage mode. Soon I was proved right as a deafening roar filled the entire battlefield.

*Roar!*

The eyes of the minotaur had turned all red as a result of rage mode.

Those who were shocked by the violent roar couldn't dodge or pair the swift punches of the minotaur and took all the impact directly. The force sent them to fly outside the battlefield. Many of them could no longer move from the pain.

The spirit of unitary and the collective purpose of protecting the camp was suddenly broken as horror filled the demigod's eyes. Blinded by fear, many demigods escaped into the safe barriers of the camp, leaving their comrades alone in a life-or-death battle against the minotaur.

Those who were abandoned were left waiting for their death as the minotaur approached them with heavy steps. As the minotaur exhaled out of its nose, steam gushed out. Its red eyes were glowing with killing intent.

I snickered at how it all turned out. It was quite the twist.

'I guess their dedication and commitment to this camp they collectively identified as home is as far as death comes knocking on the door.'

"Bunch of hypocrites..."

Now that the tables have turned around, it was time for the main character to shine. I quietly waited for Adriel to make a move. Just as I anticipated, after saying a few words to Amelia he quickly grabbed a spear from the ground and stood straight to confront the minotaur.

Although there shouldn't have been any chance of him beating this minotaur, he was still a hero at the end of the day. And a hero cannot back away even if the odds seem impossible.

Adriel was like any other hero. His good-will was above all. He always tried to save everyone. In his eyes, others were more important than himself. A selfless, admirable, and honorable protagonist with a great nature. This was what he was: A cliche hero who wanted to save the world on impulse.

Although he didn't even know what he was trying to protect, he knew he had to protect. So he fought for the sake of others every time. Just like now, he was determined to take on the minotaur to protect a camp he had no idea about and people he had never talked to.

'At least unlike those hypocrites, he has the courage to stand by his beliefs.'

With a battle cry, Adriel dashed to the minotaur from behind. Sensing him, the minotaur snapped his head towards the source of the scream. Minotaur's eyes held a glint of arrogance in them as it saw the desperate boy's attempt to attack it. However, what the minotaur didn't comprehend was, that the blood of Zeus, king of the gods, flowed through his veins.

Adriel could feel his muscles contracting and his senses getting enhanced as the divine blood in his veins reacted to Adriel's emotional state. His divine energy was overflowing and lighting had appeared around him.

With a newfound power, Adriel stabbed the feet and the leg of the giant. Each stab with the spear easily penetrated its metal-like skin, creating holes in its lower body. Black blood oozed out of the holes. The minotaur persistently tried to catch Adriel but its speed wasn't able to compete with Adriel.

Adriel continued stabbing with his spear that was installed with electricity. However, the minotaur was getting used to his moves and figuring out the pattern of his attacks. Soon more punches from the minotaur connected with Adriel, leaving him no room. He was getting exhausted pairing and dodging the non-stop punches.

As his speed decreased significantly, he couldn't resist the continuous assault anymore. The minotaur caught him off guard and smacked him with force. The impact blew him away, smashing into a tree.

As he hit the tree, blood came out of his mouth, staining his body and clothes. He wasn't able to get up as the broken bones and aching muscles denied his brain's orders to move.

He stared at the minotaur, which had already started to celebrate its victory. As it eyed the battlefield to find any other demigod, its eyes paused on a vulnerable girl, whose black eyes and innocent face were filled with terror. The minotaur exhaled steam from his mouth and pawed his left food violently, readying itself to charge at Amelia.

Realizing what the minotaur was planning to do, Adrial shouted at the top of his lungs, telling her to run away but it was to no avail. She was left unable to move out of fear. The minotaur gradually closed the distance between itself and the target. If it were to hit, there was no doubt Amelia would have died in an instant.

Being unable to move his body, Adirel could do nothing but witness everything unfolding before his eyes. His eyes intently started at the awful scene as the minotaur almost reached its target. His expression demonstrated how devastated he felt.

At that moment, what was left of Adrian's divine energy reserve discharged all at once as his emotions overrode his mind. Hopelessly watching Amelia on the brink of death, he went into a crisis.

*Crack! Bang! Crack!*

*Bang! Crack!*

The sky was suddenly covered with dark clouds. Following this, several lightings fell from the sky directly onto the minotaur, roasting his flesh and brain alive. The huge amount of voltage carried by the lighting fried the interior of the minotaur. The damage dealt by the lightning caused the minotaur to fall to the ground face down.

*Thud*

As it twitched from the after-effect of the lightning, the minotaur's ragged breaths gradually weakened. After a while the twitching ceased and the battlefield fell into silence with a huge body of a motionless body of minotaur in the center of it.

Seeing he actually won and saved Amelia, he felt relieved and his eyes began shutting down. However, before he could close his eyes completely, he sensed a movement from what he thought to be the dead body of a minotaur. His senses weren't lying to him, the minotaur was still alive and struggling to stand up even after such an onslaught.
