Minotaur Ambush (2)

As I watched the minotaur struggling to get up, I knew it was time for another member of the main cast to show up.

The condition of Adriel was obstructing him from controlling his body completely since he had depleted all his divine energy as well as his stamina with the last move he had pulled off. It was a miracle he hadn't lost consciousness by now.

On the other hand, Amelia was still too scared to act. She desperately stared at the minotaur trying to stand up.

'At this moment, Eleanor should arrive to save-'

"Hey! What do you think you are doing standing there like a statue? Get up and help them!"

I turned my head towards where the voice came from where I met eye to eye with Eleanor. After commanding me to help them deal with the near-death minotaur, she passed by me and rushed at the minotaur, raising her sword and preparing to strike at its neck.

"Sigh... I shouldn't have chosen such an open position to watch the battle."

Even if I didn't help her, she would be still able to kill the minotaur. But not helping her and staying still would only make me a coward in her eyes. And the idea of being on the bad side of a member of the main cast didn't sound pleasant.

On the other hand, I would probably be more like a burden than support. I didn't know how to wield a weapon properly, let alone use my divine energy if there were any. The only knowledge I had about fighting was hand-to-hand combat which I had trained in my past life quite a while. I had a black belt in many martial arts and many golden medals in worldwide tournaments.

Although I quit almost every one of my hobbies, I stuck with martial arts. My father always looked proud while watching me fight so I pursued martial arts to honor my father even if he wasn't alive anymore. It was the only thing I took seriously and put everything on the line. I was known as the genius of martial arts who became a world champion at the age of 15 which was an incredible feat. It was thanks to the sponsor and the money I earned from martial arts I was able to sustain my economic life without parental support.

"Now that I look at it... Those times when I fought challenging opponents were when I felt alive amidst the monotonous and numb life I had."

Still, I didn't think my black belt would be a match for a giant minotaur. What was going to do, do a spin kick at its toe? I could be of help if only I could control my divine energy. I knew this body could likely use divine energy because it was the only explanation for the corpses of grey creatures.

So I closed my eyes and concentrated. I tried to imagine the description of the feeling of using divine energy from the novel. I focused my senses on my heart, the pumping center of the body that distributes divine energy throughout the veins. I started to feel the rhythmic beating of my heart. It was a similar sensation to when I meditated before my martial arts fights. So I was able to grasp the concept of divine energy pretty efficiently. It was like opening your chakra points.

Then something eventually sparked in my mind, with each beating of my heart, a relaxing sensation spread throughout my body. I could feel something other than my blood cruising within my veins. Something light but at the same time violent.

When I opened my eyes, I could see black-red threads poring out my body. I was feeling more vigilant and energetic. I wasn't sure how much force I could inflict with this power but it was better than nothing. With that, I ran towards where the last battle took place.

As I closed the distance I noticed Eleanor was trying to protect Amelia from the minotaur, who had already fainted due to extreme fear. Adriel was still unable to move and could only watch her fight.

The minotaur had all its focus on Eleanor which caused it to not sense me attacking it from behind. Taking advantage of this I dashed at his right ankle. Although using a weapon would normally be more devastating, I believed my limbs more than a blade.

I guided the unfamiliar energy to my right hand and squeezed it hard to form a punch. Already weakened minotaur couldn't notice my strike until the last moment and it was too late. My punch connected with its ankle and the giant fell onto its knee following the sound of shattering bones.

*Roaar!*

Although it was my first time facing such a huge beast, it had still human legs. And one thing I mastered during my marital arts training was human anatomy and its weak points. The point I hit was where tendons and bones joined.

Though I must admit, the force of my punch was more than I initially expected. The minotaur was in immense pain due to its tendon getting ripped apart. Not wasting this chance, Eleanor attacked the minotaur. Eleanor jumped high and slashed her sword horizontally.

*Thud*

The head of the minotaur fell to the ground and black blood spurted out of its sliced neck, creating a mini rain. The threat was now gone. The adrenaline in my body diminished and what replaced it was aching of my muscles and fatigue. I guess using divine energy for the first time took a toll on my body. Unlike me, Eleanor seemed just fine.

As I was observing her, she met my gaze.

"If you can, come help me get these two into the infirmary!"

"Yeah, sure."

After gathering some energy in my legs I approached the main cast. Adriel too had passed out by now.

"I will carry that girl and you carry Adriel."

"Understood."

I looked at Adriel's body which wasn't said to be in his best condition. I crouched down and got him on my back. Eleanor did the same thing and we set out for the camp.

"Thanks for the help."

"Don't mention it. You would have dealt with it even if I had not intervened."

I was telling the truth. She was bound to kill the minotaur anyway.

"Still..."

Our conversation was interrupted as the demigods were coming towards us, knowing the threat was now gone. However, most of them were more concerned about the lighting than our well-being. Though it was understandable. Only one type of demigod can control lighting: children of Zeus, the king of the Gods.

The fact that Adriel was a son of Zeus was a huge shock. This is because it was very rare for the Big Three to have demigod children. It was an extremely rare occasion for a child of the Big Three to come into the camp. But what was unbelievable was that just yesterday Eleanor had come to the camp. This meant two children of the Big Three had appeared in just two days out of nowhere.

"What was that lighting?!"

"How can someone control lighting?! What the hell?"

"First a daughter of Poseidon and now a son of Zeus! What's going on?"

Amidst the crow appeared a tall mature man. At first, one would think he was just tall as the crowd obstructed the view of its lower body. As he passed through the crowd of awed demigods, his lower body came into sight. His lower body was horse while his upper body was human. He was a Centaur.

'Chiron, the director of the Camp Twilight'

Chiron was the wisest of all the centaurs, who served as a tutor for many heroes of Greek mythology.

"Silence! Let them be, they are wounded and need immediate aid. You can satisfy your curiosity at night around the campfire. Now disperse right away."

Hearing the director, the crow was dissolved and we were able to reach the infirmary where a pink-haired girl with pink eyes met us.

"Quick! Put them to the bed!"

Although Amelia wasn't hurt at all, we couldn't say the same thing for Adriel as he has many broken bones and deep wounds all around his body. I and Eleanor were in good shape as well.

After tending to Adriel's wounds, Grace turned around, her worrisome expression was gone as she ensured the life of Adriel.

"He will be fine by night. His regeneration ability is exceptionally great. Probably due to his bloodline."

She then turned her eyes towards me and began to scan from head to toe. She had a mischievous smile on her face.

"Even though you two just came here just a day ago, you already successfully hunted down a minotaur. What a surprise."

Pointing at Eleanor, I said.

"I did nothing. She and that guy with white hair killed the minotaur."

Hearing my answer, Eleanor raised one of her eyebrows as she realized I was trying to give all the credit to her. But I wasn't trying to make it look like she single-handedly killed the minotaur, I just didn't want to draw much attention to me.

"Is that so?"

Though she wasn't satisfied with this answer, she decided not to push anymore.

"Okay, you two can leave now. I will check on them once in a while."

Eleanor and I left the infirmary and I started taking cumbersome steps towards the cafeteria as I hadn't eaten anything for over 16 hours.

But I was stopped by Eleanor half-way.

"Hey!"

As I looked at her eyes that resembled ocean, I felt like I was drowning.

"I am Eleanor Aiken. What's your name?"
