Time passed quickly as Ethan and the masked men traveled through the forest, but for Ethan, each minute of the journey seemed to drag on. Nevertheless, he kept his patience and remained determined.
'I guess I am quite far from the mansion right now,' Ethan thought as he glanced at the countdown on his system panel. Only three hours remained until he could copy the ability.
'It's now or never,' Ethan concluded, deciding to copy the ability right away.
As Ethan closed his eyes and focused on copying the ability of the vampires, a searing pain coursed through his body, as if every cell was being torn apart and rebuilt. He clenched his teeth and groaned as the sensation intensified, feeling like flames were licking at his skin from the inside out. He could feel his muscles convulsing, his bones shifting, and his organs rearranging themselves in a way that was both excruciating and disorienting.
The masked men around him grew alarmed, unsure of what was happening to Ethan. They could see the agony etched on his face, and they exchanged worried glances. They had been ordered to bring him to their mistress unharmed, and they were determined to fulfill that command, even if it meant risking their lives to protect Ethan during this mysterious situation.
Ethan's body continued to undergo a radical metamorphosis, his skin becoming taut and resilient, his muscles bulging with newfound strength, and his senses sharpening to an extent he had never experienced before. His bones seemed to solidify, becoming unbreakable and fortified beyond human limits. Every inch of his being was being altered, restructured, and fortified, as if he was being reborn as a superior being.
The pain, however, was unbearable. It felt like his very essence was being torn apart and pieced back together, like a puzzle being reassembled with pieces that didn't quite fit.
The torture he went under Eliza was nothing compared to the pain he was feeling now. He just wanted to fall unconscious and escape from this pain in any way possible.
But Ethan held on. He knew that without suffering there would be no success and it was proven to him every day after he had came to this world.
He had been put in an impossible situation since the start. Still he hadn't lost hope and had held on. Now that the luck shined upon him and he was able to get away from the clutches of Eliza, he won't let go of the chance to become stronger.
He knew that if he lost his consciousness, the process of copying the ability would fail and he would die.
As the minutes stretched into what felt like an eternity, Ethan's body began to emit a strange, radiant aura. His eyes, which had been clenched shut in agony, suddenly snapped open, now gleaming with an otherworldly intensity. His breath came in ragged, uneven gasps, and yet there was an undeniable strength and vitality in his every movement.
The masked men observed with a mix of fear and trepidation, unsure of what to make of this incomprehensible situation. They had never witnessed anything like it before, and the implications left them both awestruck and fearful. They kept hoping that nothing bad would happen to Ethan.
Finally, as the agonizing ordeal reached its zenith, Ethan's body ceased its convulsions, and he collapsed to his knees, breathing heavily as he attempted to make sense of the overwhelming sensations coursing through him. His every nerve felt electrified, his muscles thrumming with an unparalleled power, and his mind reeling from the sheer magnitude of the transformation he had undergone.
He struggled to come to terms with the sheer magnitude of the transformation he had undergone. He could sense the raw, untamed power coursing through his veins, and he knew that he had been fundamentally altered in ways that were both exhilarating and terrifying.
'I am still human,' Ethan concluded after he felt the rhythmic beating of his heart. He thought that he would become a vampire like Victor after the transformation, but he couldn't be more wrong.
He felt glad that he was still a human as he didn't want to become a vampire. Though becoming Vampire had its perks, but there were quite a few limitations too.
Ethan, who already had an infinite lifespan, didn't feel the need to become a vampire.
He stood up and looked around the wagon, which seemed to have stopped in one position for a while. The entire wagon was filled with residual blood from Ethan.
He then looked at the masked men who were watching him with confusion, wondering what was wrong with him.
Ethan lightly smiled at them and spoke, "Is there any lake or river ahead?"
One of the masked men looked at Ethan doubtfully due to his changed attitude and behavior, but he still answered, "We will pass by a lake soon."
Ethan frowned at the masked men and, after contemplating for a bit, he spoke, "Your voice seems quite familiar."
The masked man's eyes showed a glint of surprise, but he didn't pay any more attention to Ethan.
He turned towards the other masked men and spoke, "Let's leave quickly."
Ethan's blood boiled as the realization hit him like a thunderbolt. The voice of the man was unmistakably the same man who had orchestrated the torturous events during Ethan's capture and journey towards the mansion. His muscles tensed and his eyes blazed with an intense fury as he remembered the pain and suffering he had endured at the hands of this sadistic leader.
Ethan couldn't contain the surge of anger and hatred that coursed through his veins at the sight of the man who had caused him so much suffering. Without thinking, he lunged towards the leader, his movements fueled by sheer determination and unchecked rage. His hands grabbed onto the man's shoulders and before he knew it, their bodies collided with an earth-shattering force.
The impact was deafening as the horse-drawn wagon they were in buckled and groaned under the sudden strain. The wooden structure could not withstand the sheer power of Ethan's lunge, and with a resounding crack, the wagon splintered into pieces. The force of the collision sent both Ethan and the leader flying through the air, their bodies tumbling and twisting amidst the chaos.
The other masked men inside the wagon frantically shouted as they were jolted around by the violent tremors, their panicked cries merging with the chaos of the moment. The suddenness and ferocity of the crash had caught them completely off guard, and they struggled to regain their composure amidst the wreckage.
