The end of the world cured my depression

I'd read hundreds of fantasy novels, and nothing could have prepared me for what would happen next. Hell I didn't even fully remember selecting this class that pretty much guaranteed my death. I mean what kind of lunatic would choose one of the classes that had the lowest chance of survival in the early parts of this whole mess? I just picked it out of tired curiosity since I'd always wanted a pet dragon even now as an adult. How the hell was I going to survive if my current chance of survival was 1%? Sure I was highly compatible with my class, but that didn't mean shit when my reward for that was having to kill 5000 monsters to prove I was worthy of hatching this dragon egg.

It took three more arrows for me to kill the creature, and it was practically on me when it finally fell. It was then that I realized that this massive bear sized creature was a dog. One of those breeds with a floppy face, and massive ears. I rushed to see if the guy was still alive. I was breathing pretty heavily at this point.

He was pretty obviously dead. I reached in to check his pulse to confirm he was in fact dead. I eyed the dog while I was doing it. Wait. My rabbits?

I rushed around the back of the building to the courtyard. Checking my rabbit cages to see if the dog had gone after them first before attacking us. I found them safe, and breathed a sigh of relief. I went back up to my apartment to grab my phone. Calling the police, and finding myself sitting on the phone waiting for an answer.

I wiped the blood on my hand off onto my pants. I didn't like this situation. I had to report that this guy had died or risk legal action. Especially since I touched the body. I'd probably be questioned too.

This whole situation was annoying. I was detached from it all so I knew I had a blank expression on my face. People that saw me would probably think there was something wrong with me, but honestly I'd seen way too many dead bodies lately to really react on an emotional level. People could judge me all they wanted, but I wasn't going to let them tell me how I felt. I finally got through after a while.

I told them the situation. They told me they were coming, and to wait until they got there. I shut my phone screen off, and stared at the scene for a little longer. I was more focused on the notification I'd gotten when I checked the guy for a pulse. The system had asked me if I wanted to part the man out.

The system had given me the option to part out a human being. It both shocked me, and didn't at the same time. I mean people are made of the same things that animals are so to a certain degree it made sense. I just didn't think it would allow me to part out someone who was my own species. I didn't noticed when the police pulled up because they didn't run their siren.

He was already dead so there really wasn't much point in blaring the siren anyway. An ambulance pulled up a few minutes later while I was still talking to the cops. One cop was talking to me while the other was taking pictures of the scene. It was pretty obvious that the cop taking the pictures wasn't a professional. They were probably too short staffed to deal with the number of dead bodies they had lately.

I headed up to my apartment, and changed my clothes before going down to my car. The cops handed over the arrows I'd requested towards the end of the conversation. I put them back in my quiver, and got in my car. I thought they'd keep the arrows, but I was glad they hadn't. I decided to head north to granite falls.

It was less populated up that way so I'd be able to find more beasts to hunt. Monsters were worth a lot less experience. The dog alone had given me three thousand experience points. I wasn't all that worried about it. My skill, and stat point rewards made it kind of useless to level up, but there were a lot of benefits to being in near death situations for my stamina.

Plus it wouldn't hurt to have the points if I needed them. I wanted to use the random stat draw or add points to my vitality. The drive was quiet, and peaceful. I was actually surprised just how quiet, and peaceful it was. That was until I turned onto burn road, and saw the blood smear across the road.

I slowed down, but I didn't stop. I couldn't see what had made the blood smear. I decided to accelerate once I was past the blood smear. One of my friends lived another few miles up the road. I hadn't spoken to her in a good long while.

It was just one of the houses I knew would make a good stopping point while I was up here. The blood smears got more frequent as I drove. A bad feeling started creeping up my spine. This was getting worse the further into granite falls I drove. I accelerated further.

Going five miles over the speed limit at first. Then ten as it got bloodier. I slammed on the breaks when something fell on the road in front of me. I backed up quickly so I could see what it was. Then I saw it was a deer.

It was bigger then any deer I'd ever seen, but it had been torn to shreds. It's head looked as if it was barely attached, and it was definitely missing one of it's front legs. The other one was in horrible shape. I started at the eye that had been popped out for a few scant seconds. Then I realized that something had killed this deer, and hauled it up into the trees that surrounded the road.

I scanned around me quickly. I didn't see anything. I put my car into gear, and moved to drive around the deer. Then I saw something moving in my rear view mirror. I slammed on the gas.

I wasn't waiting to see what the fuck was following me. I was glad I knew how to drive this car well. I had never had the tires break loose before, and now that they were I was horrified. I let off the gas to get the car back into control before I skittered off into the ditch. I felt my tires go over part of the deer as I accelerated as quickly as I possibly could.
