“If you’ll excuse me,” Julien finished his glass in a single gulp, “I have other appointments to attend to.” He stood before Steane had the chance to reply and left. “Home,” he ordered, climbing back into his carriage. He could feel blood pounding at his temples and took several deep breaths, forcing himself to calm down.

Of course other men would be interested in Leander once the young man’s leanings became known. Hadn’t he wanted Leander from the first moment he’d set eyes on the American?
