Looking at all the shocked faces in front of me, I guess they are in awe of what just happened.
But soon afterwards, all of them took out their weapons. They finally realized the gravity of the situation...or not. Because even though they had their weapons out, these guys just stood there like a bunch of scarecrows. I thought at the very least five of them would charge at me.
"GET HIM!" The moment the second man shouted, the front, two men charged straight at me.
"HIYYA!"
Damn this is kinda boring so far, so far the two dimwits who have charged at me have missed all their hits, it's kinda embarrassing. I thought they were escorting "treasure" so they had to be strong, but I guess I was wrong, they aren't much better than a couple of idiots who wielded swords.
"Why can't we hit him!"
Of course you can't idiot. First of all your stance is wrong, who the hell charges forward like that.
Secondly, you're just swinging your sword aimlessly, did you actually learn how to wield a sword?
And lastly...
"DON'T LOOK DOWN ON ME CAUSE I'M A KID!"
I had just made sure one of the men who charged at me won't be able to have children.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU ALL DOING?!"
"It's just one brat! CATCH HIM!"
Looks like the second man is the leader. I rushed forward towards his direction but was blocked by another 2 men.
So I chopped both their heads off.
"Allow me!"
The cloaked man in the back had spoke. He had been silent standing in the back while observing the situation. My guess it that he had been focused on erasing his presence. It makes sense since I'm only a fourth rate now so I didn't notice him until now.
"FLAME BURST!"
The cloaked man pointed his finger at me and a large flame emerged, rushing towards me.
"EVADE!"
The other men who were desperately trying to escape got caught up in the fire and got burnt to a crisp
"Isn't this kinda overall kill for a little kid?" I couldn't help but snicker when I said that. The man in front of me is around third rate maybe higher than that?
But looks like it's in point black range now! Alright time to try out the shadow pet!
"BLADE!"
Yes. That's my shadow pet's name, Blade. I thought it'd be a good name since I usually wield a sword. Because you gotta admit, it does sound cool. Blade was also the name of one of my favorite swords in my second life.
Blade answered by call and exited my shadow, showing it's full form in glory.
What's it form you may ask?
Well obviously it's a sword! More specifically it's a black thin sword.
As blade swiftly made it's to my right, I grabbed its handle with my free hand and readied my stance, striking an attacking pose.
"VAPORIZE WAVE!"
I twirled the sword back and forth before making a spin to cut the huge flame charging at me. From it, emerged a huge tidal wave which target was my opponent. It was quite a sight to see. As fire and water met a huge steam cloud formed in the center of the camp.
It's a success! Vaporize wave is a third rate spell which used a quite a bit of mana, but even though I'm a fourth rate currently, I don't actually feel tired, I actually feel kind of recharged as well due to the mana given to me.
"Y-youu!"
"WHO ARE YOU!"
"Hoh. You managed to block that. So there was someone among you that had skill."
Now that I think about it where is that second man? I looked over to see several burnt bodies lying on the floor.
I think one of them might be him.
He seemed like the boss so I was aiming for him, who knew he was just as weak as the others. I didn't actually think that he would get burnt by his own comrade's attack.
"Don't look down on me brat! I'll have you know I used to be..."
"Demonic art 4: Fervent slash."
I dashed forward slashing the cloaked man in the process.
"Alright, it seems demonic arts works as well, so let's test one mor..."
I was thinking of testing one more skill on the cloaked man cause it seemed like he was strong but when I turned around, he was lying on the floor devoid of life.
"AHHH! Why the hell did you have to go and die!"
I rushed forward towards the body, picked it up and started rocking the lifeless body back and forth.
"HEY IDIOT WAKE UP!"
I continued shaking it for a few more moments till I realized there was no hope.
I had lost a valuable testing piece.
"Haiz, I shouldn't have used that. I didn't think he'd die from such a move. Isn't he almost second rate?"
It had been a while since I faced such a strong opponent so I did feel a sense of disappointment. Not to mention he'd make a perfect test for the rest of Blade's abilities.
I looked around the area to check for any survivors, there were quite a few of them but none of them made good test subjects, so I just released some spells to slaughter them all.
"Alright all killed!"
I immediately went towards the cloaked man's body, bent down to reach for the body in front of me and started checking for any valuables. After a few moments...
"How the hell do you only have a notebook and 12 gold coins!"
"Aren't you supposed to be a mage! Why the hell are you so poor!"
One gold coin is 10 silver coins and 1 silver coin is 10 copper coins. Which means this idiot only had 1200 worth of copper coins on him!
I spent the next few minutes rummaging through everyone else's belongings and searched their camp for loot. Well, I say everyone, but because the cloaked man had burned quite a lot of them, their belongings were quite...well...fucked.
"Well at least there's some decent stuff here. A red mana stone? It looks worn out but I guess that's fine. Oh! At least he has some gold on him."
As I picked out the last of the gold from the last man's body, sounds of rumbling came from the cart behind me. I'm guessing it's those slaves they were transporting.
"Hmm? Well I have no need for some slaves."
I said while walking away nonchalantly.
But as the sound of the rumbling got louder, my irrational thoughts start to get the better of me.
"But what if there's treasure with them?"
I turned to look at the back of the cart.
"There's no way that's possible right? I mean, why would they keep treasure with slaves? That makes no sense."
I said, all the while walking ever so closely to the back. It seems curiosity got the better of me, actually, better to call it hope.
The hope that something would be at the back of this cart and not just slaves. The hope that there will be some insane treasure I could sell for a ton of money. The hope that I won't have to worry about the funds for any experiments in the future!
"Now show me my treasure!"
I grasped the two handles of the cart and slammed it open wide, breaking the door. I scanned the entire back of the cart for any signs for rare gems or goods, moments later visible disappointment could be seen from my face. It had turned from excited to disappointed in a split second.
"Ahhh! Where is my treasure!"
